Dimash is a 29-year-old Kazakh vocalist and composer; He speaks Kasakh, Russian and English and is learning Mandarin Chinese. He sings in more than 14 languages, plays 7 musical instruments. He graduated from the Kazakhstan University of Arts with a master's degree in composition and would be completing a doctorate in musicology. He is sometimes refered to as The Golden Eagle of Kazakhstan after the symbol on their flag. Justifiably, the Kazak people consider Dimash to be a national treasure. The Quobyz is the oldest stringed instrument on the planet and this guy is a master. Dimash always shouts out his musicians, back up singers, dancers etc. Dimash is very dedicated to honouring his vocal gifts. He practices for an average of 3 hours every day without fail except the final day before a full Concert when he rests his voice. Here are 2 to start with. SOS from his Digital show 2021. It was during Covid. And Unforgettable Day from the Gakku live performance. He hits a D 8 note. He wrote the melody as a teenager. You will be blown away by both of these songs. I discovered Dimash a year ago. And I can't get enough of him.

Yes, he's in a League all of his own. No doubt about! 😉 Not only is Dimash a great and unique creative Artist, but he is also a great Humanitarian. STRANGER is spotlighting the plight of the ever increasing numbers of Displaced People around the world, forced from their homes, by various wars or other calamities. Often with only the clothes they are standing in, and having to seek asylum and start to rebuild their lives again, with nothing, as Strangers in Strange New Lands. { That is... for those who DO manage to find refuge } Here Dimash uses his 'many voices' to represent the Displaced; Men, Women, Young, and Old. Even the high faintly-Arabic sounding cries of a very young child. Many of his works carry such anti-war or humanitarian messages. Dimash wants his audience, not just to cheer his musical skills, but also to pause and reflect, and do whatever we can, as individuals, as communities, to make this world a better place. This is yet another reasion why he is held in such high regard.

Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. I’m a real fan of movies that have such a mystical or oriental atmosphere. And it was such a great idea by Dimash to use the Qobyz for that. The Qobyz is a very old two stringed Kazakh folk instrument and it’s wide spread among Kazakhs. The man who often is playing the kobyz in Dimash’s performance (also here in Stranger) is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. You often can hear this instrument when Dimash sings in his native tongue like Samaltau, Qairan Elim or Òmir Òter. As a Kazakh he speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently. He sang Stranger for the first time at New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international competition for young artists, founded in 2002 by Igor Krutoy. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury. Igor Krutoy, like so many other masterpieces, wrote this song specifically for Dimash and his incredible vocal range (in this song alone he sings 5 octaves F1-F6 I think). And the last note he held for 20 seconds. The way he switchs so affortlessly between the different registers and octaves in one song is so mesmerizing and unbelievable. Stranger was written by the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. He wrote this song and others especially for Dimash’s wide vocal range. Please react to Olimpico or also Ogni Pietra from his Arnau concert in 2019 next. In this song he sings in Italian. You can find it on Igor Krutoy‘s Channel. Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. It was written for the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus 2019. And that’s why the lyrics are also very motivating. This song and this performance from this Arnau concert is my absolute favourite🥰 I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I always get breathlessness. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭(and apparently many cameramen think so too, since many of the camera shots during his performances very often only show his hands. Sometimes it seems as if he is conducting himself. This is really fascinating). And the facial expression, the look. There he looks so commanding😱. In my opinion, this version of Olimpico is one of the most impressive performances ever. If you don't know what the song is about, you'd think he was going to war and is calling his army to a lost battle 😅! It’s absolutely stunning. And I don't even mean the vocal part, but also his stage presence. The whole package. Oh wow I’m starting to rave again…🤤 Sorry but I can’t help it🥺. Dimash " using no way as way - having no limitation as limitation ". He has no style, yet he has all styles. Sound familiar. Those are quotes from Bruce Lee, the greatest martial artist of all time, who threw away all the manuals and rule books, to create a style of fighting that had no style. Dimash is doing the same with music. Creating his own style. But more importantly evolving that style ! Technically, one of the best voices I have ever heard. I'm a fan of Bruce Lee and I am a "Dear" of Dimash !! ( Dears is Dimash's description of his fans ) Been following him since listening to him perform SOS on The Singer 2017. Great reaction to not only the greatest all-around singer/performer on the planet, but also an incredible musician and human being. Another fantastic singer you should definitely react to this time from the UK is 20 year old Lucy Thomas. She has just released her 5th studio album and has millions of fans around the world. May I recommend her cover of the Whitney Houston song "Run To You" from the film "The Bodyguard." Although all of her performances are wonderful including her duets with her younger sister Martha.
