I’ve lost count of how many times I have watched reactions to this song. At what point do I need to ask for help? Because I am clearly obsessed. And I cry every damn time. It’s like David’s voice combined with the absolutely incredible production values and the brilliant instrumentals- they just reach into my heart and take over.

His name is David Drain an of the band Disturbed. When younger, he was trained as a cantor, from a line of famous cantors, but went another path. He is a very moral, good man, from everything I've read/ watched about him. I love their heavy metal songs, but if you just can't handle them, listen to The Light, A Reason to Fight (which has helped many people, including myself), Hold on to Memories.....A few of their softer songs with wonderful meaning. I'm a 70 yo grandma who absolutely adores David and the remarkable musicians in this band. They're not afraid to try new things, always growing.

Yes, the band Disturbed is fronted by David Draiman, with guitarist Dan Donegan, bassist John Moyer, and Mike Wengren on drums. Donegan also pitches in with keys when needed. Disturbed is a hard rock/metal band. Prior to this cover, best known for "Down with the Sickness" which is much more in the metal/rap metal/nu metal/ don't try to pin down a genre vein. At its core, you'll hear the dark, heavy sound of the hard rock/metal roots in all their music - even their ballads. They do great originals and great covers.

Do you think the video producer chuckled to himself when he didn't start the audio for 5 secs into the video, knowing that people would sit forward and wonder where it was?? So evil!

David Draiman... ah yes... one of the best male vocalists' on the planet! He has amazing range and control! ....can sing sweetly in baritone or tenor... then with vocal fry and back on a dime. He can actually put vibrato on the vocal fry which is incredibly difficult to do. Liked your reaction Michael.

I only came upon this version about a year ago and have watched it over a thousand times. Every single time it moves me and I get misty eyed. Always hits me the most in the last sentence when he draws out the" Souuuuuuuuund ' of silence. The day David laid down the vocals for the song he wasn't even booked in to do it but they got him to go in to sing it and after about 3 hours he came out of the recording booth with tears in his eyes as he listened to the playback. He wouldn't look at anyone else there because he was crying and didn't want the others to think he didn't like it. To the contrary he was so moved by it he couldn't help crying.

OMG, the tissues I've 🤧 gone through since I discovered David Draiman and Disturbed performing their rendition of "The Sound of Silence" on April 29, 2024. That day I have to believe my spirit 🙏 guides (out of the blue) first led me to a cover video by Dan Vasc singing "Amazing Grace" which was phenomenal 👏 and then to the cover video of Disturbed and David Draiman singing this most POWERFUL, EMOTIONAL 😂rendition of Simon and Garfunkels "The Sound of Silence". I'm 75 and was 15 when they released one of the most popular classic songs of our time during the 60's. It is amazing how relevant it is today, actually I feel it is even more relevant than ever in so many different ways. I've spent days since listening and seeing, you notice I didn't say viewing, the many channel hosts and each of their reactions and have 😢 almost every time. It's funny that more males have gotten teary-eyed than females, just an observation. Thanks, Diane

This song should be and everyone are available to sing it in. I am very sure did Paul Simon would be proud of the way his song is being used. Though the song was written by Paul Simon it's owned by Columbia records. It's going to be very rare for a corporation to actually want this song to be popular again.

Okay so Watch You Burn by Disturbed is a beautiful song and an awesome example of their more recent music as it’s evolved in the decades they’ve been around. If you want to hear one of their most iconic songs that’s representative of what their sound was like for a long time “back in the day,” you gotta hear Down With The Sickness 😅😅 it is veeerrryy different from the sound you hear here and often total whiplash for people who discovered them through Sound of Silence. I love seeing it 😂

I believe that This is the absolutely Proper Treatment, in the context of our current reality, of the original lyrical intention. (even Paul seems to agree..?) If taken as if it were new writing, this poetic commentary stands solidly in our current world. Which only deepens my appreciation of the prescience and connection of the author's perspective. Nice react! Cheers rl 🤘👹🤘

By the way, David Draiman was really sick for the Conan live performance and I heard he was not pleased with his performance, being the perfectionist that he is I can understand why he felt that way. However, the production as a whole was amazing and his performance was EXCEPTIONAL! I loved it. So POWERFUL and EMOTIONAL! Disturbed "The Sound Of Silence" 03/28/16 | CONAN on TBS Team Coco Thanks, Diane

The Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel is sad resignation. The Sound of Silence by Disturbed is Dammit, LISTEN! ***** The Warning ***** "And the people bowed and prayed, to the neon god they made." ~ Paul Simon "And the people bowed and prayed, to the golden calf they made." ~ Old Testament

This is a beautiful song and one of my favorites. If you like this you HAVE to learn about REN. Start with his video Hi Ren, which has over 900M views and you will see what I mean. Not to mention you will probably at least double your subscription because of the way you break songs down. GOOD LUCK!!!

Ignorant comment! 😀 It’s Very easy to sing or mouth along with David if you know all the words to the song, which most people who grew up up in that era do, who know the song well.
@onmywayhomerescue4350 Жыл бұрын
The fact that he mouths along with David with exact timing shows that he has heard it before. I really look forward to these raw reactions and it's disingenuous to pretend it's your first hearing and yet you somehow already know what's coming. Yes, he knows the Simon and Garfunkel version but the original is nothing like Disturbed's version. I'm disappointed.
@michaelreactions Жыл бұрын
Sorry but you're wrong...it was my first time listening to this version...when you know the original and you have a pretty good ear it's not difficult to mouth it...but thanks for your comment
