Yes!!!! Pentatonix has a great rendition also. My first time hearing this was Disturbed and love it. It's so beautiful. It's as though Disturbed warns us but PTX gives us hope. I like PTX better just because Im not really a fan of this genre ...except for slower ballads and such. But on a real note... For me it's a really close 2nd. The original is a classic but both Disturbed and PTX have upgraded this song.

I'm 78 years old. I've been listening to this over and over and watching the reactions of folks like you and yours is the BEST reaction I've seen yet. The words, the sounds, David's voice all show on your facial expressions. I get chills and even hold my breath every time I hear this. WOW It's fantastic.

Great reaction! Now you should go watch the official music video for the stunning images they put together that really help communicate their vision of what this song means to them. You won't be sorry - it really is moving in a different way than this live, which is obviously glorious. You can react (many others have reacted to both) or just go see it for yourself. It's true art. David was trained as a cantor in the Jewish faith, which is where all this technique stems from. If you like this side of Disturbed, here are a few to try that are closer to this (their videos are typically beautifully put together and I recommend them, but that's a personal preference.) It's been said many times before: The original Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel version was a warning about our technology becoming too important. Disturbed's version is the anger that the warning wasn't listened to. His not 'classical' but still very traditional training as a Jewish Temple Cantor really shines with a song like this. Another note, I could be wrong, but I seem to remember other professional singing coaches express their amazement that David Draiman is moving through 4 or 5 octaves in this song, and still hitting that rock vocal fry and metal grit.

David Draiman...amazing range and control...a powerful yet soulful voice that can go from warm baritone to angelic tenor, from clear as a crystal to rasp/distortion/vocal fry and back on a dime, which is incredibly difficult to do . He has a timbre in his voice that I've never heard before.....just hauntingly beautiful ...one of the best male vocalists on the planet imho. Loved your reaction.
