Welcome to the Dreamworld! Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip out your spine when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉 "Chase me" was their debut, released on January 13th (a Friday), 2017. It must have been nerve-wrecking for the members, re-debuting with a genre that is not popular in Korea after Minx failed. (5 of them were Minx before.) But they already doubled their sales with this. And they stuck with the Rock/Metal vibe until today, now selling 50 times the albums than Minx did. This is the start of the Nightmare arc, which spans 6 MVs and 1 Japanese release. They are Nightmares here, and the Nightmare hunter is trying to dispel them - how that turns out is shown in the next one, Good Night. Their dance costume here is like a shortened Yukata, except wrapped right over left, something that's usually only done for the deceased. Fits well into the horror concept! Good Night is one of their heavier releases, and I love it. The K-Rock girl group Rolling Quartz also did an excellent cover of it. The Nightmare hunter casts spells to trap the members, but they get the book from him and turn it against him, trapping him behind the mirror. "Fly High" is probably the poppiest of the Nightmare arc. It was not done by their usual production team as well. But it makes sense, since this is a prequel, so bringing in a bit of the Minx sound makes sense to me. There are really heavy parts in it as well, which clearly state that they are not Minx anymore. And I love the dark parts thrown in, they really make the song special. The light part sung by SuA after the metal break is in major, while the rest of the song is in minor. That is why it stands out so much. They did the same in Good Night, but a lot shorter. About the MV: You can see Yoohyeon burning the spider, which brought the curse of the spider queen down on the members. You will see the spider queen again in You and I. In Native American mythology, spiders are considered protectors, that is why a Dreamcatcher resembles a spider's net. That is a brilliant connection to their name! 😊

They have several storylines going on: - Nightmare Series: them trapped in a nightmare and wanting to get out (chase me, good night, fly high, you and I, what and piri and also breaking out which is an japanese mv and is an alternative ending to piri/nightmare series) - Dystopia Trilogy: talks about cyberbulling and the consequences of it waiting for an utopia where everyone is nice to each other, the tree has beautiful fruits when you say nice things and black ones when not (Scream, Boca and Odd Eye) - Apocalypse Trilogy: talks about climate change, asking for help but then not getting it so do it yourself and then saying goodbye (maison, vision and Bon Voyage) - Versus : about a crown which corrupt people into behaving like a "all about me personality) and then trying to get rid of it (ootd and Justice) Must know that all their songs has a deep meaning behind it: tension (feeling too much pressure and feeling not enough), Reason (thanking the fans for being there every step of the way), BEcause (toxic love)....

Previously 5 of them (JiU, SuA, Siyeon, Yoohyeon and Dami) were in a cute group called minx the typical cute and summer vibe girl group but they werent successful, they had two title tracks (why did you come to my home and Love shake). The ceo decided to redebut the groups adding two new members Gahyun and Handong and new producers making an innovated girl groups mix with pop, rock and horror theme ❤❤❤

The actor in Chase Me & Good Night is Jo Dong-hyuk. Also, with regards to your question about their personalities: Yoohyeon who killed the spider in the video would definitely not do it in reality. I seem to recall that she even felt bad about killing a mosquito in one of their vlives... The in-video explanation why she killed it is, apparently, "She felt like it".

Congratulations on finding the best group in the world. It might be a good idea to watch/react on a DC guide, there are plenty. Also there is a channel called "insomnicsy" with series of videos "this is [name]", for seven members and four years at the moment, since 2020 to 2023, which gives one understanding of their personalities. The music becomes even better when you know them.

Hi, and welcome to InSomnia (DreamCatcher fandom) Let me preface that you are already done with some of their most creepy M/Vs and as you will see later on M/Vs for Justice, Deja Vu, Bonvoyage are some of the most beautiful in the entire industry, so you are in for a treat. The reason is simple: DreamCatcher has pretty extensive storylines that tie together most of the title track M/Vs and what you are currently doing is called: Nightmare Arc. It consists of 6+1 videos and as you have correctly pointed out: Fly High is a prequel to the story! The order of the tracks is Chase Me Good Night Fly High (Prequel) You and I What Piri + Breaking out (Alternate ending of the story line, Japanese release) The story in nutshell that they were young witches who became nightmare due to a curse (of the spider ) after they captured and tortured one. The nightmare hunter tried to get them in Chase Me but they have escaped in Good Night.

It's always fun seeing people who don't like horror check out Dreamcatcher's debut stuff for the first time. It's always a mix of head bobbing to the music and cringing from the horror elements, lol. The overt horror elements tend to taper off after the next song, You & I, with a few exceptions. I'm glad you enjoyed their music. They started out really strong and have only improved and gotten better through the years. If you want a guide to check out then the most recent one is An Extensive Guide to Dreamcatcher 2023 by Dreamer. It does have some short title track spoilers but it's a fantastic guide if you don't care about that.

In addition to all of Kit's (better known as insomnicsy) videos, you'll eventually want to watch Mera's "Dodging Disbandment and Other Extreme Sports: A History of Dreamcatcher" from Feb 2020. (You can watch it after finishing the Nightmare series and the stand-alone masterpiece "Deja Vu".) FYI, Dreamcatcher is on tour right now. They just played Mexico City; then Sao Paulo, Brazil tomorrow (Sun 9/15); and Santiago, Chile on Tuesday. Then USA in November (where I'll finally see them in person, with their first visit to Seattle!) They're doing well and renewed their contracts early, so I imagine they'll tour Europe again (they've gone a few times already) within a couple years.

Hey Reeny, you should check-out 💎 Rolling Quartz, the Dreamcatcher-adjacent 5-girl (women really, all 2-3 years older than you) K-rock band! They'll tour Europe again in Jan/Feb 2025. Closest to you is probably Munich Feb 2, or Warsaw Feb 7. They just did two shows in Australia. I saw them in Seattle in May 2023 -- with literally fans from ~6-year-old into their 70s! Fantastic & so much fun! Some of their MVs were done by the same company as Dreamcatcher's. Eventually you may recognize the same locations, sets, and props in various videos. As others stated, RQ covered DC's "Good Night", an homage which included several easter eggs. And at some point, RQ's drummer (Yeongeun) was teaching DC's Handong how to play! RQ has their own original songs, done a lot of covers, and collaborated with singers like AleXa and Kim Jang Hoon. They've done MVs for most of their songs (sometimes multiple videos) and put on many free KZbin concerts with live interaction between the band & fans worldwide. If you like Dreamcatcher's rock, you'll enjoy Rolling Quartz! There's a lot of crossover between the fandoms (InSomnia & Diadem).
