One of my favorite groups in Kpop. They are incredibly underrated and extremely talented.

Another great group. I am a mamamoo fan and Purple Kiss comes from the same company, so I saw all the pre debut and training days of this group which includes interaction with mamamoo members, so their debut was great for me. This group writes pretty much all of their songs, choreo and produces everything.

Probably the most important thing to know about Purple Kiss is that they are under the same label as Mamamoo: RBW. And if you do check out Zombie, which is different from Everglows, also check out the Halloween version for a much different feel.

For the first five title tracks, Purple Kiss are witches. Their debut Ponzona, they are casting a spell to make people love them, Zombie they are playing with the Zombies, memeM they are taken control of your mind and are playing with it, Nerdy they've decided to come out and disrupt a television station with anti witch content, Sweet Juice they decide to open a hotel and are attacked by a mysterious black figure. There are a number of short lore videos associated with some of the comebacks. Their last two combackes 7even Heaven and BBB they moved away from the dark concept. For all of the first 5, there is an intro with an MV that is thematically linked to the title track. Crown, Freaky Purky, Illusion, Bye Bye Bully, and Save Me. They are all awesome. For Zombie they did a Halloween version where they remixed the song, changed the choreo and dialed the horror up to 11. I like it better than the regular version. Some of their excellent b-side video's ... Pretty Psycho, Love is Dead, My Heart Skip a Beat, Can We Talk Again, Cast Pearls before Swine, Agit. I would encourage you to listen to the full mini-albums as all their b-sides are immaculate. They debuted 3/15/2021 from RBW. They are Mamamoo's sister group and their vocals live up to that legacy. The member you noticed particularly is Swan the best 4th gen female vocalist and one of the 3 main vocalist (Goeun and Chaein). They are very involved in the creation of their material. All of them have song credits. Yuki writes almost all of her raps and Chaein in particular has written and composed many of my favorite tracks. Swan actually wrote their debut song Ponzona as a trainee exercise, Goeun contributed to that song as well.

They are more than playing with zombies, they are also themselves zombies. Initially they look human because they try to hide that they are zombies. The reason for that is that they have a crush on a human boy. At the end you see that their faces are starting to show their true nature. Also in the beginning Dosie sneezes and one of her eyeballs falls out. 😄

4:25 Swan, she was in Lee Mujin Service and had an amazing performance, I love her vocal tone. Sweet Juice is a song that feels so unique and satisfactory even from first listen, second song I heard from them and I got hooked. I love how memeM is trippy af since it is about the song getting in your head. From what I've seen Purple Kiss is also a funny group, I haven't watched a guide on them yet but I'm sure you'll like their personalities

I'll try to control my inclination to babble. The one thing that you will find with PK is that their music and style are not 'out of the can' and just when you think that you have them fit into a box they will come out of Left field again.Their music and lyrics are always paradoxical and they do most of their own coreo, writing, singing dancing, acting etc. If you delve into them and start watching various videos you will discover beyond their immense talent that they are incredibly fun, interesting, very dedicated to their fans (Plory) I could go on and on. I would like to request that you listen to these few tracks. They are not exclusive but they are a little cross-section of their talent: Pre-Debut-My Heart Skip a Beat and Can We Talk Again, these Two alone should indicate to you their unpredictability. Then I would suggest any of their dance covers like Ring-Ding-Dong or OneUs's Black Mirror, Then check out this track (No MV yet) but it is a great dance track called Bittersweet and lastly look up Purple Kiss's cover of Vegas but Doja Cat. Oh, I almost forgot, one of their iconic songs, "Zombie" You are in for a fun ride Roldy. Cheers.

Thanks so much for checking out Purple Kiss!! So glad that you enjoyed them! I saw them live in Toronto and they put on an excellent show! Fantastic vocalists! All 3 of the MVs you watched are in their "witch concept". The voice that kept wrecking you in Sweet Juice belongs to Swan.

thanks for reacting to purple kiss, they are the little sister of mamamoo , same label, many ppl don't like their label RBW, they are poor in management and marketing etc but for music, they are good at recruiting talented musician/artist and form them into groups, Mamamoo, "onewe" (a true self formed band) , "oneus" (boy group), and purple kiss all have good music.

Yes more purple kiss! Their debut song Ponzona is really good. If you check out zombie I recommend doing the MV and the Halloween versions. They changed it up in the Halloween version. Also, their pre debut song My heart Skip a Beat is so good.

I love Purki! Easily one of the most talented groups in kpop. Vocals dancing rapping, and even writing and composing + choreographing. They deserve so much more💜

Fr, they have so many good songs but they never seem to get out of the nugu zone. I would recommend Nugudom, Stupidz (latest comeback), Undercover and Poison Rose

Yes its the same girl in the first 2 mvs. Her name is Swan, maknae of the group. She has one of the most unique voices in the whole kpop. React to their guide next and you’ll get to know them more

I highly, *highly* recommend reacting to their intros. Most of them have performance videos and are absolutely amazing. My fav intros in kpop (Dreamcatcher are a close 2nd)

If the person who recommended PK knew you were into cult-y vibes, I'm amazed they didn't recommend their debut 'Ponzona'! It's straight up occult themed. With the exception of their last two title tracks (7Heaven & BBB), even when PK does cute, it's still got a campy horror vibe to it, like in Nerdy and Zombie. The best of Purple Kiss however, is there B-SIDES. 🙌 Their discography is sooooo different from nearly anything else in kpop you'll come across, because from the very beginning they managed to develop a very distinct sound that is totally theirs and feels authentic to them and not the generic majority of girl group music. 'MemeM' is pronounced mem mem, which is a play on a Korean word '맴맴' (or 'maemaem') which means 'to hover', as in one's thoughts. Basically in the lead up to MemeM's release there were story line trailers with one of the girls describing how they bewitch people by taking over their thoughts. In the mv you see that they've gotten into someone's "brain vault" and are now wreaking havoc and consuming their every thought/memory. For me, MemeM is still my favorite title track of PK's precisely because it's so weird. Songs like it are why I got into kpop... I love when they take your expectations of how a song "should" sound and be structured, and tosses them out the window. What some people call confusing bc their brain simply won't relax due to those expectations... I call dynamic, interesting and addictive. 🤷‍♀️😂 😊 I hope you continue to explore them. i found you through ateez today and was happy to see you reacting to my favourite girl groups, mamamoo and purple kiss! (both under rbw ent) 'zombie' is their most popular song and 'ponzona' is their debut, so I recommend those. the voice you liked is swan's voice, she's the maknae. also unfortunately one member left after nerdy (jieun) so they're now 6 members. also since you like my fav gg mamamoo, I have to recommend my fav bg which is p1harmony. I'd suggest their newest song 'killin it'. they're super good, most ateez fans like them too :)

oh also let me recommend purple kiss pretty psycho ! it's not a title but it has a video and it's definitely a popular song, you'll understand when you hear it!

Sweet Juice MV is, as you recognised, heavily inspired by The Shining; but also incorporates Spanish. The strange hotel is called Hotel Insolito, literally Hotel Strange. With that hint, we can solve the "RILAS" mystery. Just like The Shining had "REDRUM" on the walls, which was "MURDER" backwards, this MV has "SALIR" backwards, meaning "to get out" or "to leave". They pronounce the title memeM as "maemmaem" (close to "Ma'am, Ma'am!"). 맴 "maem" that the the title memeM refers to is a word that creates the image of something spinning, whirling, going round and round. And the chorus is 니 머릿속에 맴 맴 맴 "ni meorissoge maem maem maem", which is a reference to the expression 머릿속에 맴들다 "meorissoge maemdeulda", literally meaning "spin inside head", but means "can't stop thinking about". This goes together with the MV imagery, where the set is revealed at the end to be a head, and there's plenty of spinny things throughout the video. So they are basically saying, once they put their spell on you, Purple Kiss is going to live rent-free in your head. "Oh my god it's so catchy"? I think the spell worked :) In Nerdy, yes they are witches. They used to hide from normal people, along with other monsters; but now they decided to go on the counteroffensive, by attacking a broadcasting company that is reinforcing bad stereotypes of monsters while exploiting them for profit. They disrupt a set of a supernatural drama filming, they mess with what seems to be a Jerry Springer kind of a talk show, bringing a monster guest just to laugh at him... We are the cool ones actually, is the message PK send to the geeks, nerds, otaku and other similar groups that are often bullied and marginalised in the society. The subs "I'm a weirdo duck who let the duck who" makes no sense; in fact, it uses one Korean word 덕후 "deokhu", which is the Korean borrowing of the Japanese "otaku". So in my opinion, it is a pun with two meanings: "I'm a weirdo, otaku let the otaku (be themselves)" and "I'm a weirdo duck, who led the otaku" :P (This is not canon, just my musings on that line) You are not mixed up. Both Everglow and Purple Kiss have a song called Zombie. (And I think DAY6 do as well.) Everglow's is proper horror, but Purple Kiss Zombie started their trajectory onto the creepy-cute concept that they do so, so well. They also did a Halloween version of Zombie where they change the vibe to... less cute. Anwyay, Purple Kiss is well worth your time... but then there are a ton of groups that are, too. It is hard, falling for K-pop... :P Purple Kiss is full of talent, from amazing vocalists, to a Japanese rapper who raps her self-written verse in Korean, to members who can paint and draw so well, members who can choreograph, members who kill guy group choreos (watching their relay dance cover of EXO Overdose is a must), members who compose and write songs... And then there's Swan, their youngest, with one of the most unique voices in K-pop. Her claim to fame is that she recorded guides for Mamamoo and Chungha when she was 15. Guides, not covers: the recording that the artists learn the song from. Oh, and she wrote what later became the Purple Kiss debut song, with two other members, as a training exercise. Stupid talented.
