Ten was a dance mentor and judge on the Chinese dance competition show Great Dance Crew for several months in China in 2022 , which is where "Birthday" and a short version of this dance was first performed a little more than 6 months before this MV was released. All of his dances also were, at least in part, choreographed by him. Ten is often the one that creates or modifies the most memorable and dynamic parts of NCT/WayV's dances that he is a part of. Therefore, it wouldn't surprise me if it was Ten who came up with or modified that tightrope jump move to create what you see in his "Birthday" MV. Most choreographers say they present Ten with choreography and then he changes it and makes it even better. He is a very skilled choreographer as well, which he has shown off in several self-choreographed performances on NCT's KZbin channels and as a member of SuperM, etc. (SuperM is literally a group of the best dancers, singers, rappers and performers from SM's most popular boy groups. Which I think explains a little of Ten's skill level.) If you check out his 'Birthday' dance practice video and the behind the scenes dance practice video, his behind the scenes of his MV shoot and the behind the scenes of recording the song, you can see just how involved he was with this whole project. Ten actually competed in B-boy competitions when he was younger, so, in his "Birthday"dance practice videos you will see how he incorporated a lot of B-boy moves in this choreography. You can hear him talk about it in his behind the scenes videos and in interviews he has done for this project. And he also has a background in gymnastics. Ten is actually known for being one of the most flexible male idols in the Kpop industry, and there are even compilation videos showing Ten flexing his flexibility and fellow NCT/WayV member WinWin and Ten competing to see who is more flexible, etc. (WinWin has trained in traditional Chinese dance since he was young and is super flexible as well.) I also recommend checking out an interview he did with BoA, who is a senior solo artist also under SM that is known for her dancing, kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmmnZmijYquHidk. This will give you insight into just how respected and talented he really is. Ten was very involved with the whole concept for both "Paint Me Naked" and "Birthday." Everything to do with "Paint Me Naked" he had a hand in creating. He was consulted on the sound and style of the song -- which is pop-rock/EDM -- was the one to design and choose his outfits, he was involved in the MV concept and design, and he helped choreograph the dance. This project was 100% Ten inspired. Ten is well known for his drawing and design work -- several of his tattoos, which are all real, are designs he created. Not only is he talented in the art of music and dance -- he is a main dancer (one of the best dancers in the industry), lead vocalist and one of the centers of NCT -- but he is also talented in all forms of art. So, the painting part and art work references in "Paint Me Naked" are a nod to his passion for art. Dive Studios, which is a PodCast KZbin channel, is like a Kpop radio station with podcasts hosted by Kpop Idols from all different generations who are all foreign idols, so the whole channel is programs hosted in English and geared toward an international audience. Fun fact: NCT's/SuperM's Mark Lee awarded Ten with the "Naked of the Year" award because, out of all the members of NCT, Ten is the one who most often doesn't wear a shirt or shows off his body. We have sort of come to expect that Ten won't have a shirt on or will be wearing something that barely covers his body. These days, it's actually more surprising when we don't see Ten's abs. LOL Ten actually said he wanted to paint his body for his "Paint Me Naked" MV, but SM said that was too racy, so they compromised and he wore the chain shirt instead. Which Ten says, and most would probably agree, he finds much more racy than paint would have been. LOL New Heroes" is the perfect examples of what makes Ten such a phenomenal dancer. Even though he looks like he must have been a trained ballet or contemporary dancer, really his dance training was in hip-hop and he was a gymnast when he was a kid. So Ten's dance style is really just pure talent. More recently he has taken a few ballet lessons and he is starting to become interested in contemporary dance, but he doesn't have a background in those styles. He is just really good at interpreting what he hears, sees and feels through the movement of dance. And even as a solo project, if you notice, everything he does is centered on NCT's dream concept. You should also check out Ten's dance practice for "New Heroes," kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqWyYoeiiLaDrsk. The dance practice choreography for "New Heroes" is different than what you see in the MV as well. In the MV, Ten's dance is mostly freestyle. However, in the dance practice it has been choreographed to use some of his original freestyle movements and adds in backup dancers and some choreographed elements. The dance practice is what he performed/performs at music shows and in concert. But the MV is all just Ten feeling the music and interpreting the song with his body. :D All of Ten's solo songs -- "Dream in a Dream," "New Heroes," "Paint Me Naked", "Birthday" and "Lie With You", etc. -- so far are in English because Ten is fluent in English. He grew up attending an international school in Thailand run by British educators, so he spoke English in school. He is native Thai, however, he is fluent in at least 4 languages -- Thai, English, Korean and Mandarin, and he is currently learning Japanese. Because Ten is a member of WayV -- the Chinese sub-unit of NCT that produces songs in Mandarin and promotes in China -- this is one of the reasons why his songs are in English. Due to all the political issues between China and Korea, by producing songs in English, among other things, this helps him avoid any conflict with the Chinese government or being seen as a Korean idol, when WayV promotes in China. Right now, Korean companies are not allowed to do business in China and any mainland Chinese citizens are restricted from doing business with or working in Korea, which is why WayV has to maintain a separate presence even though they are part of NCT. Plus, English is one of the languages Ten is most comfortable in and it helps him connect with a wider international audience, etc. Ten first debuted as an original member of NCT-U in 2016 with their "The 7th Sense" MV, as a main dancer and a rapper, but by virtue of the fact that he is an SM Entertainment artist, it shouldn't be a surprise that he is also an outstanding vocalist. LOL. As you are starting to discover, that's just what SM artists are known for. That's why SM is the vocal powerhouse of the industry because everyone under SM has superior singing abilities. Ten is the NCT member with the most solo projects because he is one of SM's and the industry's top dancers and he is an amazing singer and performer, so SM likes to showcase all his impressive skills. Ten is one of the most talented and skilled artists in Kpop. And yet, not enough people pay attention to him. SM Station songs are special songs that are released by SM artists or collaboration songs that are done outside of the members group, etc. Solo performances that aren't associated with a member's group or are just special songs are often Station songs. Hence, why all of Ten's solo releases are Station songs, and not really part of NCT, even though I think some of the MVs still are connected to SM's SM Culture Universe storyline. :D NCT Lab is a special project that was started at the beginning of 2022 that allows NCT members to release special songs that highlight their individual skills and the members get a chance to put their own ideas and style into the project.

Great reaction! A few things about Ten... 1-he is the most respected dancer from NCT across the industry...see his dance off with Taemin and Kai. 2-He is the only SM idol from Thailand 3- He sings in English (just like Lisa from Black Pink - and Bam Bam from GOT 7) these Thai idols grew up taught English and are fluent 4-Ten is so respected as a dancer he was a judge on a Chinese female street dance competition (where he got stuck in China for many additional months quarantined with entire show due to COVID 5- The dance practice for "It's your Birthday" is better than the mv 6-"New Heroes" was filmed in LA ...it was a little side project for Ten alone.. why....he sat out without a unit from NCT's original debut in 2016 (where you saw him in the seventh sense) and not again until 2018 with Taeyong in Baby Don't Stop and NCT 2018 Back on Black . and not again until 2019 WAYV. He was the only member who debuted in 2016 who sat out without a unit for 3 years. SM even stuck him over in the young NCT Dream dorm. 7- SM has given little effort and promotion to Ten and WAYV (any non-Korean artist) 8- SM issues most songs to their artists vs other labels that allow more input on writing, composing and producing ..I have only heard Taeyong and Mark allowed to write some rap lyrics from NCT.
