There are several reasons why few people connect Clark and Superman. 1. It’s not just the glasses. As Clark Kent, he usually slouches just a tiny bit to look different and generally moves around in a way that makes him look more awkward. 2. His attitude. Most of the time, he just blends into background as Clark Kent. 3. Not many suspect that Superman even has a secret identity. And why would they? They know that his name is Kal-El and he comes from Krypton. They know that he lives in Fortress of Solitude and spends his days saving people. Like… Imagine that one day, you get a new guy at work who looks like Keanu Reeves. His name is Kyle Smith. He acts like nothing like Keanu Reeves. Meanwhile, you see Keanu in the news or doing movies. Would you really suspect that this Kyle is an actual Keanu Reeves who decided to work some office job just for kicks or something?

Yeah, plus, IRL people tend to have a sort of "filter" around anything that could rock their view of the world. IE people will go like "Oh, Clark can't be Superman. He's just a guy who looks somewhat like him. I mean, people say all the time there are at least two people that look like you in the world."

Doomsday was created a millions of years ago on a primitive era of Krypton, when a scientist was experimenting on an infant to survive the harsh environments, every time it died, the body would be retrieved and made immune to whatever killed it. When it became too powerful to control, it attacked the lab and killed everyone as it remembered all everything they’ve done to him, thus the birth of Doomsday. It came across other planets with no one being able to kill him, the last one trapped and restrained him and sent him into space, which leads to his arrival on Earth and killed Superman.

It’s not that no one could kill him, in fact most places he visited managed to kill him at least once. That’s why he’s so hard to kill when he reaches Earth. Because every time he died his body regenerated with an immunity to whatever that planet used to kill him The one planet that survived realised his ability and managed to trap and imprison him in a metal coffin during the regeneration process, which was slow and took a long time. They left a warning on the coffin for future generations saying never to open it, along with an explanation of Doomsday’s ability and then buried it. When Doomsday finally finished regenerating, he managed to break out and make his way to the surface, where his first attack had become such a major historical event, that 2 generations later they were prepared and shot him into space. Which is how he ended up on asteroid that would eventually make its way to Earth The reason Superman is so ineffective is because the scientists that created Doomsday experimented with using artificial yellow sun energy, which they used to give a champion powers similar to Superman and had him kill Doomsday. They then used the same energy to strengthen Doomsday and had him fight the champion again which is when Doomsday won and became uncontrollable, returning to the lab and wiping out the scientists involved

The original doomsday was actually a being made by those scientists to eradicate the life from on the planet that would become Krypton so they could terraform the planet they were paid to make doomsday but they didn't think it through completely.

The Clark Kent effect is an actual studied phenomenon. Like Henry Cavil went out to Times Square, stood in front of a Man of Steel ad for a good chunk of time while that movie was in theaters, in a Superman T-shirt and nobody recognized and/or approched him. Johnny Depp has gone on subways in a hoodie during the PotC craze and not been recognized at all. There are all kinds of stories like this, where a simple change in clothing or even something as inoccuous as a different hairstyle can turn otherwise highly recognizable people into just another face in the crowd.

Fun Fact about Lex and his villainy: Occasionally, he does something similar to what Boom suggested. There was one time Lex created a robot that would rampage through the city and distract Superman. Why? Because every moment Superman is fighting that robot, someone out there who needs Superman’s help is getting hurt. For example: One kid saw his best friend die while they were calling for Superman to help. And while Superman stopped the robot, that one kid lost his faith in Superman entirely.

In 52 Lex gave a ton of children super powers. They helped protect metropolis while Superman was gone. There’s more to it but eventually on New Year’s he flips a switch and turns off their powers. And hundreds of children rain down to splatter on the pavement. If I remember right it was all to garner sympathy, make the heroes look bad and test his own super power serum. Lex is evil.

In the final post Crisis fight against Lex, Lex eats an omnipotent god, putting him beyond the levels of even the Endless (Death itself stopped in Luthor’s presence). The god is young though and makes a condition, if Lex uses his power for evil it will instantly leave him. Lex instantly conjures Superman to him and begins holding him against his will and taunting him. He does that ‘you had everything while humanity had to work’ and Superman finally reveals his true identity to Lex. Lex simply can’t believe it despite viewing it with his godly powers. Superman even says something like Lex could’ve easily figured it out but he refused to believe Superman would ever ‘lower’ himself. Anyway Supes begs Lex to be a good god and not waste this chance, Lex assumes Superman is taunting him, instantly tries to kill Superman, loses his power, is sucked into a black hole and finally dies. And that’s the last time we ever see post crisis Luthor! Black Ring arc it’s called, basically Lex on a manhunt for a black lantern ring. Phenomenal final look at Lex’s character, shows that even if he did accomplish all his goals it would still never be enough

Regarding the dog: Old Batman comics have a character called Ace the Bat-Hound, AKA Batman's dog. A lot of modern adaptations of Batman also feature Ace, but usually just a normal dog unlike the cheesy animal sidekick that the old comics have. In the end of Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, Raven gifts Damian a dog. That is the dog in this movie, grown up. The dog's name is Titus because more modern comics feature a dog called Titus the Bat Hound instead of Ace. But it's the same concept. It's the pet dog of the Bat Family.

Ok so a little known fact among the casual fan. Superman's glasses are just 1 of the dozen things he does to throw people off. A few of them are his posture, his coordination, the disheveled way he wears his hair & clothes, the befuddled way he speaks etc. All of that said, the most effective way he throws people off is him vibrating his head a such a high speed that its not only undetectable by everyone around him but it also causes people discomfort when they stare too long.

So some backstory of this story. The movie is based off a famous 1992-93 storyline. It was so impactful it was talked about in US News & talk shows which was an extreme rarity at the time. Comic writers for Superman like Dan Jurgan & others wanted to do something Big for Superman and initially was going get Superman to marry Lois finally. But at the same time was the live action TV show “Clark & Lois” was also setting up a marriage episode first, so the comic writers went with Plan B. KILL SUPERMAN. So they created doomsday; a hulkish monster that can adapt to anything & can’t be killed the same way twice. In the movie doomsday is created by Darkseid but in the comics was an experiment from a primitive era of Krypton. The storyline was already adapted in 2007ish with “Superman: Doomsday” with mixed criticism.

My favourite thing about the Death of Superman is that in the comics they did it primarily as a time filler. Originally they wanted him to get married to Lois, but they wanted to make it happen at the same time as the tv show Lois & Clark was going to get them married for brand synergy, but the show was dragging it feet so they were brainstorming how to fill time when someone suggested to just kill him off as a joke. The post credit scenes will make more sense once you watch the Sequel Reign of Supermen😅

The people who say Batman and Superman aren't friends have either never picked up a comic or have only seen bad adaptations of their relationship (Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns, Snyder's DCEU). Superman and Batman are literally the best of friends, so much so that they have a much deeper understanding and respect of the men behind the cape that even their closest family members and other superheroes will never quite understand. I won't really get into that much detail unless someone asks for it, but one of the things that shows their level of understanding and respect is how they both admire and look up to each other. They wouldn't ever admit it to other heroes or even to themselves, but they have admitted it to their closest confidants. It always irks me seeing Batman and Superman at odds in movies and shows because growing up, I read comics and saw the JL Animated shows where they weren't at odds and were actually very close. I also want to include Wonder Woman in their relationship as well because she has been a really good anchor of support and friendship for both Batman and Superman. Wonder Woman being right up there with Batman and Superman isn't really surprising considering they are quite literally the three pillars of DC in terms of their roles as leaders of the superhero world as well as the qualities they help to inspire not just in normal citizens but even other heroes and sometimes even villains. Wonder Woman represents truth and love, Batman represents justice and responsibility, and Superman represents compassion and hope. Together, they make up DC's Trinity and are capable of not only turning the tide in battle, but rallying people to the side of good.

There was a comic book where Batman gained Superman's powers temporarily. He NEVER stopped and flew around the world stopping crime around the entire world but since he likes to operate at night he stayed on the night side of the planet. I think it took about a week before he lost his powers from a lack of sun. As long as Superman gets a bit of sun every 24 hours, he's fine. He parts his hair in the opposite direction, slouches, pulls in his jaw, and uses a different voice. His biggest disguise technique is the simple fact that he doesn't wear a mask, so the average joe assumes he doesn't *have* a secret identity. On top of that, how many newspaper reporters can you pick out of a lineup? Outside of personal friends, family and coworkers, who tf even KNOWS what Clark Kent looks like?

As to what "Doomsday" is varies between adaptations. The basic gist is that it's a science experiment gone wrong in an attempt to find true immortality- by killing and reviving the same lifeforms over and over in hostile environment until all it knows is a hatred of every living thing with a strong desire to kill. Said environment being prehistoric Krypton.

Not immortality they were hired to terraform the planet but were afraid the creatures would survive so they made a kid to destroy the creatures that remembered every time it died and the faces of the scientists who kept cloning him.

Well when it comes to Superman he doesn't really need to eat he can get most of his energy from the sun but just chooses to eat sort of similar to Amethyst from Steven Universe. It depends on the story mostly some stories he doesn't really need to eat or even sleep thanks to the sun. While others stories he do need to eat and sleep just not as much as a human.

My bf had us go through the animated series shows together first, then we tried these movies (along with other random ones) and fell in love even more. We also watched young justice together. This animated movie universe was loosely adapting the new 52 comics line and even in those comics superman and wonder woman’s relationship never really went anywhere. With this movie they adapted a 90s superman conic story so to keep it true to that had to have Lois and Clark be a thing and sweep the other relationship away

Two different Supermen. New 52 Superman was together with Wonder Woman. ‘Main’ Superman was still with Lois and had Jon. Both existed side by side but when New 52 Superman died the ‘main’ universe one had to come back into the spotlight. ‘Main’ Superman, Lois and Jon come from a previous universe. Never thought about it before but I don’t think New 52 Lois ever interacted with ‘main’ Lois. That would’ve been fun.

Fun bit: Jericho is also in the teen titans "everyone teams up" episodes. He's the blond kid who never talks and plays the guitar, but in the final battle you see him jumping bodies. As far as Superman's identity, I _extremely_ recommend the 1978 Superman movie. Or you can catch the clip "Superman changes to Clark and then back and forth" for a condensed example. Bro manages to morph into a different person on screen with no outfit change it's wild.

A) Superman canonically 6’3 and weighs 225. B) He does not have to eat, but enjoys doing so. I recommend the 78’ movie with Christopher Reeve where he goes into that in the interview. C) Depending on the Earth, Clark didn’t have all of his powers at birth and even had to grow into some of them, while always strong he did grow up on a farm and probably got some exercise lifting tractors until he absorbed enough solar radiation to get him to Superman level. D) Oh, he full on dies and goes to the afterlife in the comics and is brought back by a couple of things like his body being recharged and his dad retrieving his soul from a bunch of demons trying to take him to Hell. (spoilers for a 30 year old comic). Also, he never stops charging. As long as he keeps getting solar radiation he effectively becomes immortal and immune to Kryptonite, if they don’t, you know bury him in a crypt away from all sources of ultraviolet radiation…

The next movie was actually a collection of comics that followed the stories of several alternatives to Superman after his "death". I ABSOLUTELY LOOOOOVED that series. The Reign of Supermen comic series is probably the strongest geek core memory I have, I read it constantly.

Doomsday once beat the hell out of all of Apokalypse and Darkseid himself, even shrugging off the gods Omega beams 8. He’s been accidentally genetically programmed to hate all life 9. He is Kryptonian in origin but he’s from a prehistoric period of the planet hundreds of thousands of years ago when it was a harsh wasteland ruled by survival of the fittest 10. Even though Superman doesn’t really have anything to do in the DCAMU, this was a fantastic adaptation of The Death of Superman. I also want to give credit for this movie for making Superman’s death impactful even though he was underutilized in these movies. Also with the trunks, yeah I could see why it would be cheesy but there’s a charm since sometimes his Mom makes the suit and she’s the one that added the trunks. Also with the whole Superman glasses thing, it would work since you wouldn’t expect Clark Kent to be Superman. Even then what most adaptations would do is that Superman would switch up his personality to throw off people.

Idk about the food thing for sure but keep in mind that his original planet does not have a yellow sun. So people on his planet were just normal. He is powered by the yellow sun but if he's kept in storage without it of course he'd be lanky

37:50 Superman is always burning through his solar reserves. Certain of his powers use more than others, like his laser vision, which he is using a lot here. I think he can get a little back from moonlight, but don't quote me on that, and either way, if he's going hard enough, at night, he can run out. It can usually be fixed by a quick trip to the light side of the planet to absorb some over several minutes, but Doomsday isn't really giving him a chance to do that at the moment. He has a lot of reserves, so he can keep going for a long time, but he is getting progressively weaker.

In the comic, I believe the fight between Superman and Doomsday lasted for about 10 issues. It was a MASSIVE deal and was huge for the time when the comic released. The shot of Lois clutching Superman's body and of Superman's torn cape flying on the rubble are some of the most iconic moments in comic book history

I remember back whenni was a kid, my uncle had a massive comic collection and i was about 6 or 7when i read death if superman. It shook me. That uncle left me a majority of that collection but most of it was sold off (it was a couple thousand but not crazy) but i still have that copy of Death if Superman

Many people already said it in the comments, in the main continuity (and most of the other universes), Superman doesn't need to eat to sustain his body. His kryptonian metabolism powered up by photosynthesis works fine on its own, basically converting sunlight into energy just as a plant would do. Clark eats mostly because that's how he is, deep down he's psychlogically human, so he do it on a regular basis if he can because he like it and it's part of his daily life. But there's been some ideas that deviated a bit from this (and were nice plays in my opinion), like in the 'Lois & Clark' show from the 90's : they introduced the idea that Clark body need way more calories per day than ours to keep its metabolism in check, and writters used this to make jokes about that Clark can eat whatever he wants without gaining weight. The supergirl show mention it too during its first season. Btw sorry for the typos of there's any, english is not my native language ^^'

He was created on Krypton in the comics, but he isn’t actually Kryptonian. In *’Superman/Doomsday: Hunter/Prey’* which revealed Doomsday’s origin, his creator remarks to the people he is working with _[who are Kryptonian)_ _”This infant, _*_not native to this world of yours,_*_ represents immortality”_
