A lot of people miss the symbolism of the two choirs. It symbolizes - as the line in the song says - "Between the present and the past". It also symbolizes that we don't realize that we become adults so quickly that the time we have to 'make amends' is short and gone before we realize it.

Mike Rutherford wrote the song. He’s in the video and plays lead guitar. Phil Collin’s was in genesis which Mike Rutherford was also in. Burt Bacharach said that it was one of the most beautiful song both lyrically and musically he’d ever heard and believed it would be a classic for many many decades. It won a bunch of awards and is still one the most impactful songs ever written.

The naval officer in the photo near the beginning is Mike's father Bill Rutherford, who was Gunnery Officer of HMS Revenge in 1940, and was a staff gunnery specialist in King George V in the final Bismarck battle.

@@Azimov-REACTS Mike Rutherford is the guy playing the guitar (wearing the light coloured jacket). He was in Genesis with Phil Collins. The guy singing is Paul Carrack. Paul Carrack has sung with various groups including Squeeze. He has an amazing voice and tours each year (in his own right) to sell-out concerts.

I understand your comparison to Phil Colins.. but I think Paul Carrack is a better singer.. much appreciated! - (p.s. - I have a great relationship with my Mom.. and all my siblings.. Dad was not around, and I'm female, so it's not quite the same, but I've recommended this song to several people... a couple of whom told me that it actually changed their lives...just beautiful)
