5:10 Bubblegum Crisis is dystopian future earth, and it goes HARD. It was incredibly popular around that time, and is pretty much seen as the scfi anime of the 80s, like ghost in the shell was for the 90s. Due to the episode limitations, when compared to modern anime the story is a little skeleton, but I still think it holds up well, even now

Stop talking and go watch Evangelion! It's not the mech anime you are thinking of, you will be VERY surprised by the show. There is a reason why many put it in their top 5 best anime of all time. And for the love of god... watch Cowboy Bebop and Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood... it's a sin not to. The same with Code Geass. Now that i think about it... you haven't watched the top 5 best anime of all time... shame on you.
