Races are usually between 400-500 miles long. Depending on the track you can have from 200-500 laps in a race.

Should also mention lap times are usually under a minute so 500 laps is just an hour or two depending on cautions.

Dale Earnhardt was a 7 time champ in nascar cup series and he died on the Daytona 500 (the greatest American race there is) by wrecking into the wall a few races prior, and 3 weeks later, his replacement of Kevin harvick the 29 car beat one of the greats the 24 car of Jeff Gordon in a photo finish and what you saw by them all raising the number 3 is the number dale Earnhardt drived his whole career.

They stay inline and close behind for a few reasons. 1- the lead car breaks the air allowing those close behind to have less air to move through and kind of get sucked along with less effort. 2. The car behind keeps the air flow moving away from the lead car and kind of pushes it along. 3 If you are right behind and using less effort while being sucked along, you can slingshot around for a attempted passing. Two cars running nose to tail will go faster than just a single car by itself.

It seems simple because it's all out oval, only left turn, but the crazy thing to consider is that the most competitive drivers are running around 200 MPH on constantly on the edge of spinning out in every turn for 4-5 hours. I can't fathom it. And, that says nothing for dealing with the dozen or so other cars within 1/4 second around you in every direction trying to do the same thing.

NASCAR fans and drivers raise three fingers to honor Dale Earnhardt Sr who died in a crash at the 2001 Daytona 500. His car had the number 3 painted on the side. Cars are on each others bumper in a move called "drafting".

Yes, in NASCAR teammates often work together at the three superspeedway races (Daytona, Talladega, and now Atlanta), the teams also share information with each other And the "slow" car was a few laps behind the leaders, and thus not a factor, and yes that was a tribute to Dale Earnhardt

The number of laps is dependent on the lenght of the track and the number of miles of the race. The Daytona 500 is a 500 mile long race. It takes 200 laps to reach 500 miles at the Daytona Speedway.

Restrictor plate racing is done at Daytona and Talladaga which means all cars have the same horsepower so they have to push each other and play a chess game in order to gain positions.

That’s one thing that American racing has over Formula 1. The onboard cameras are far more dynamic, and can be turned to look off centerline. With all the miniature technology nowadays, I imagine cars could have enough bandwidth to go full 360 to be edited live without moving parts. You could get the feeling of the F1 helmet cams without the shittyness of helmet cams.

There are different types of racing. Plate plate racing is when they are stacked up. Those races are all about aero packages so they draft in packs. You are also watching different generations of cars, which handle differently.

Hey if you’re interested in learning a bit more about the heart of NASCAR you should react to “The Day: Remembering Dale Earnhardt.” It’s a 4 part series that many KZbinrs who are learning about NASCAR react to. It’s a really great story about one of the greatest drivers in NASCAR history. Dale Earnhardt AKA “The Intimidator.” Get your tissues ready.

I actually just got back from my nascar/camping vacation yesterday as of writing this comment and I can understand when people say they don't understand nascar because it seems so boring on the TV and such but I can't stress how cool it is to go for real tickets are fairly inexpensive at where I go for the very least (NHMS) and to do tent camping on the grounds of the track its $120 for a week at other campsites I've looked at for other trips they ussualy are more expensive than that and the race track itself while I was there had 2 different tribute bands play concerts one on Friday the other on Saturday and that's included in the camping price as well is their fan zone at nhms where they have rides and experiences and driving Sims the one I used was put up by Toyota and used some pretty high end sim equipment that's just for the tailgating half of things though at nascar tracks you can bring a radio and listen to the drivers radio communication with spotters or you could rent a radio to listen in then there is the feeling of standing next to the track while the cars are doing a restart and a huge burst of air slams by as they pass you and you can feel the ground shake as they drive by there is also the wonderful feeling of when they do the national anthem and a local airforce base near the track will work with the truck to coordinate a fly over of a jet or some other type of aircraft they used a k135 stratotanker over this last weekend for me all in all its a great time full of fun people and drinking and loud cars and crashes and spin outs at a fairly inexpensive price in my opinion

When two cars run directly in line with each other very close together there is less aerodynamic drag. So basically two cars working together can go faster than one car by itself.

Mos NASCAR races are between 300-500 miles in length at tracks ranging from 0.526 miles to 2.66 miles in length. The outliers are road courses which are little over 200 hundred miles, the short track races which are little above 250, and then the Coca-Cola 600 which is 600 miles. Most tracks are 2 miles or shorter and many can run sub 1min lap times in green flag conditions.

Yeah. Dale Earnhardt, Sr (father of Dale Earnhardt, Jr you'll hear about in the videos) was known as "The Intimidator" and drove the black #3 car. He's right up there with Richard Petty as one of the most iconic NASCAR drivers. And you'll find a lot of people sporting a 3 decal on a back window, or other part of their vehicle in remembrance of him. Tallahassee's use of it on his vehicles is also a reference to him. Tim McGraw did a version of David Allen Coe's "The Ride" that features Dale, Sr in place of Hank Williams, Sr.

I know this video is a year old. But, if you're still having interest in NASCAR, as of this comment 5/15/2024. That Darlington finish, that's deemed to be the closest finish in NASCAR history? That finish has just been dethroned a couple of weeks ago at Kansas Speedway. Where Kyle Larson beat out Chris Buescher by a margin of 0.001 , crowning it as the newest closest finish in all of NASCAR's history!

Cars touch intentionally. The front car literally pushes the air in front and wears more tires and spends more gas. The rear car will spend less fuel but will have less downforce. When cars touch, 2 cars become one for aerodynamic purposes. If the rear car pushes, you have one car with 2 engines. This is called drafting. When you join a line of cars drafting, you do not care about you position inside the drafting line. You just care about moving forward to gain positions over other cars outside the line.

Nascar is the sanctioning body. Only. The race car isn't called a nascar. Thats like calling the race cars in B.T.C.C. a B.T.C.C. Its a race car or stock car or in the top series called a cup car. Nascar is a acronym that stants for the n.ational a.ssociation of s.tock c.ar a.uto r.acing. Oh, and you are hearing 40 race cars with all the same engine size 358 cubic inches roaring simultaneously at 8,000 to 10,000 RPM. Pit stops are made faster by glueing 5 lug nuts onto the new wheel/tire going on the car. The socket on the impact gun taking the wheels on and off has a spring in it to spit the lug nut out of the socket for rapid fire loosing/tighting of the lug nuts. Now with the generation 7 car nascar has, the wheels are held on by 1 big nut like a F1 race car.

This videos is a bit outdated, at the superspeedway tracks of Dayton and Talladega those tracks have such high banked turns they don’t have to get off the gas so everyone stays bunched up in a pack and that’s why at those two tracks so many big wrecks happen and yes there are teams, some teams are a single car team others have 2-4, not all teammates will just let their teammate by
