I have the same experience with a BMW 325I that I bought used. Beautiful and stylish car, but when it broke down, the repairs were ridiculously expensive. Had to let it go. Great car, but one you have to have throwaway cash to keep. Didn't have it then. I did as many repairs on it myself as I coukd. Did a valve cover gasket, but when the catalytic converter went, that was the end. 1300 for it to get done. Wasn't close to getting that done. Made me sad, but learned an important lesson.
