This is beautiful. You should check out the NPR Tiny Desk concert. This is great live and she has Mohini Dey playing bass, which elevates it a little more.

Notice the name Chris Greatti. He is a producer, musician, and songwriter who works w Yungblud and on Willow's Empathogen lp. He works w a lot of popular pop artists.

Amazing song, very complex and excellently produced. Great singing. What a piano intro! Chord clusters and the associated dissonances, as underscored here with the piano, are certainly not what you would expect in a pop song, especially not in the complicated but beautiful resolutions that seem so simple and logical. The harmony, but especially the unusual rhythm, is the backbone of the unusual but equally interesting melody. But I can't stop raving about the equally unusual rhythm - 7/4 and 4/4. A 7/4 time signature is absolutely unusual in popular music. I can only think of two pop/rock songs that use such a time signature, and they are from the 70s. One of them, Solsburry Hill, probably only occurred to me because I suggested Peter Gabriel for the Tuesday contest. 4/4, on the other hand, is a standard in pop. Of the outstanding musicians in this extraordinary production, I particularly like the bass and the drums. Above average!!! If it hasn't been expressed yet, I think the song is great!

@@perrosol-ns4cc8ot4t Lol, OH WOW! I love pleasant surprises. I never would have thought, WILLOW, would blow your mind. I would have imagined some distinct classical to WOW you, before a Willow song...but THAT is the beauty of being eclectic (loving many types of genres). You are a true melting pot of musicality, Sir. 😏. Lol, I have to Google what you mean by 7/4 and 4/4. Thats OVER my IQ. Lol. To add, since you like this Willow song, tell me if you like this other song she was a featured singer in. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nGGbeaN7bc-HrLssi=wTinXd1EpjvtqyM8 ~ Tazzz ~

@@tazzznphilly I have repeatedly expressed that I am particularly fascinated by creative and complex pieces of music, especially when they are organically light like this one, regardless of the genre. When it comes to what "creativity" means, I don't always agree with the mainstream. In music, a bar refers to a fixed period of time in a piece. The 7/4 time, for example, is an odd time and is rarely used in pop music (as I write this, another well-known example comes to mind). Mathematically, 7 quarter notes fit into a bar. So you count 7 even beats, with the 1st and 5th being emphasized a little more because of the odd number.

@@perrosol-ns4cc8ot4t I remember from music class in grade school, iambic pentameter. I thinkkkkkk that a four count beat. I mentioned that sometimes....but the 7 thing I didn't know. Thanks for the education as always, you eclectic guy, you.

@@tazzznphilly This confuses me now. In German, an iambic pentameter is a meter consisting of five (from the ancient Greek "penta" for five) iambics (iambis: a meter consisting of two verse elements) in literature, especially in classical stage poetry.

Dang, that's an amazing review w the time signatures and all. I barely understood it as I was describing it. 😊

I've got to say, I've been watching other music reviews and they talked about the time signatures in this song. It is a difficult thing to do a 7/4 and 4/4 beat going, blend and separate. One man/reviewer broke down crying! He was very moved. He reviewed the whole lp.

@@JKThom-59 i give respect to those Reactors that do music reviews. Some of them are in the music industry, and deal with music as a profession. That is not this channel though. NICE! Haven't seen Willow Smith sing since she was a baby but she's grown into one helluvan artist. I was just reading something about her the other day though. She added the most talked about young bass player there is to her band, Mohini Dey from India, or to be more accurate, started a whole new band with two other talented young ladies on guitar and drums, and the lone holdover and male of the group on piano. I just looked up the rest of this after watching your reaction. Then I watched a video of this new group playing another song from the same album on Jimmy Fallon, even though Willow and the piano player are the only two who played on the album. I think it's about time I start compiling that jazz playlist I've been thinking more about since you did genre month, so thank you for this, Way Kool Stuff!
