Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。This is the song that I am longing for the revival with Su-Metal's matured rich voice. (Of course I love this version) "Rondo" is a musical form with a recurring leading theme. I can't tell how many times I have viewed this video. It is literally a rondo of happy dream for me. Kamis' (=Gods') super solos were excellent enough as a main event in the show, but once the 16-year-old Queen (as of 2014) emerged from the underground, she colored everything differently with her penetrating voice then turned Kami Band's plays into a ritual to summon her. ps. On Jan.19 this year, I went to see a concert where 3 kamis out of the 4 in this video joined : Ohmura (2nd guitarist), BOH (b) and Hideki (d). Their play was, as you can imagine, amazing. 😍

Great reaction, thanks! Yes, I've watched this a few times... maybe more than a few and probably more than what is considered healthy, lol. How do I feel when I listen to BABYMETAL? Oh, that's a super difficult question since they are very diverse musically. They have fun and crazy songs that make me smile, some serious (and even dark) stuff (like this) and even songs that can make me cry. In general, their music relaxes me and puts me in a positive state of mind. The instrumental intro, "Mischiefs of Metal Gods", is perfect to show every Kami Band member's skills. And it serves to summon Su-metal who finally emerges from the depths ... well, at least from the bottom of the stage. 😁 This is the only intro song which has a name but they have several other songs with an intro when they perform them live such as "Catch me if you can", "YAVA!". "Awadama Fever", "Kagerou" and more recently "METALI!". "Rondo of Nightmare" is probably their darkest song lyrically. It's about Su being trapped into an endless nightmare, without any chance to escape, where she's chased by a dark entity as she tries to run away and hide. Finally she asks the entity to reveal its real nature before giving up. The song had the tentative name "Kill the Alice" (reference below). This was just the second time they performed it live (the first one was just the previous night at the same venue) and Su-metal, being 16 at the time, was standing by herself on a relatively small and elevated platform, without any safety and probably not being able so see a thing due to the spotlight. This is so freaking metal! This is one of what we call Su-metal solos. She has four of them. The others are: "Akatsuki", "No rain no rainbow" and "Amore". The "rondo" in the name refers to the musical refrain form. The typical feature of any rondo is the return to the main theme after each digression giving the song a dark feeling of moving in circles without any possible way out. One of the best known rondos is Beethoven's "Für Elise". Here is an excerpt from an interview with RollingStone (April 2014 issue): Q: Concerning Su-metal's solo songs we see that 'Akumu no Rondo' has been released as a new single. Su-metal: It seems my two solo songs are 'Akatsuki' and Akumu no Rondo'. 'Akatsuki' has the sense of being the 'redness of passion' (realize that Akatsuki means 'red moon') as is a song where I move around passionately. Compared with that, 'Akumu no Rondo' possesses the feeling of 'blackness'. The temporary title for this song was 'Kill The Alice' based on an image of Alice falling into a cave and being flaying around in the darkness. This is a story where it seems that something is chasing me (this girl) around in the darkness of the cave where I can see nothing at all. Most of the songs I have sung up to meeting this one have been passionate songs but this song has allowed me to try my hand at new ways of singing and I feel I approach this song with a new way of expression each time I sing it. 🤘🦊

Babymetal is absolutely incredible. With understanding the lyrics, this song invokes a sense of foreboding dread and leaves me on an emotional cliff hanger. It is about being pursued by an unseen monster, an endless nightmare. Eventually giving in and falling to that nightmare. You asked what we feel when we listen to a Babymetal song. That is a VERY hard question to answer. Each song tends to draw out a different emotion. Some make you happy, some make you sad. Some can even get you emotional and may draw tears. With all that being said, if I WAS forced to choose only one emotion and it had to fit every song, then the only emotion I could attach to every song of theirs is pride. When you consider the fact they started off when Su-Metal was only 14 and the 2 dancers were only 12 and you look at how big they are now, then in my mind there's no way you can feel pride for these young ladies.

When I watch or listen to BABYMETAL the overwhelming feeling is one of joyous exhilaration. Even optimism. . What is about them specifically given I don’t really like “metal” music much? ? I wish I knew, but one thing for sure is Su’s voice & her choices when singing. I might not always know what she is saying but I almost always know what she means. That’s an extraordinary talent & a very appealing one.

Nice reaction! The type of feeling/emotion...? Fun and positivity. Awe, if it comes to Su-Metal´s talent. Joy, when Moametal and Momometal (AND Yuimetal!, in older performances) do their thing (you didn´t watch them here, but they are a vital part of BABYMETAL). Wanna headbang, listening to the Kami Band(s) (there are indeed two Kami Bands). "Rondo of Nightmare" is such a great performance, but you barely scratched the surface of the thing called BABYMETAL. They are awesome! Please react to more BABYMETAL, you won´t be disappointed!

The first time I listened to this song the piano, especially during and after Su screams, reminded me of Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells" used in The Exorcist. Less creepy perhaps. More an immediate, aggressive threat. Right after this Su bends over and croons into the microphone, beseeching the monster hunting her in the night asking if it will not let her go will it at least show itself to her?

Welcome back again, its been a while. Great reaction. This is one of four Su-metal solos, two on each of the first two albums. Yui and Moa would get a break while Su performed those. That was the Kami Band, some of Japan's very best session musicians - they can play anything - and with BABYMETAL they have to be able to do that. They are the support for all live shows - they first appeared in Oct 2012 and were phased in over the next 18 months or so playing at a couple of festivals and the encores in some shows. The Budokan shows at the start of March 2014, where this was filmed, were where they finally became the full time support for all live shows. The intro here is called 'Mischiefs of the Metal Gods'. In order of solos - Leda Cygnus (blue guitar), Takayoshi Ohmura (gold guitar), BOH (6 string bass) and Hideki Aoyama (drums). This line up of the Kami Band (the Kami Band of the East) last appeared in January 2023. In 2019 the Kami Band of the West (American musicians) was brought in to support BABYMETAL in their increasingly lengthy foreign tours and they have been ever present for all shows since April 2023. There can't be many 16 year old girls who could follow that intro and then just take over the whole stage and arena the way Su did. This is one of their darkest songs lyrically. I understand rondo is a musical term denoting a repeated theme - something like that anyway. I believe they borrowed the term for the title of this song as Su is caught in a recurring nightmare, being chased through the darkness by something she can't see. Eventually she hides, but it is still coming closer. Knowing there is no escape she asks that if she is to die won't it at least reveal itself to her. This was only the second time Su had performed this song live - the first time was the night before. This was early March 2014. They played two nights at the Budokan in Tokyo (this may be the most prestigious venue in Japan - it is the place all Japanese and many foreign artists aspire to play), Red Night and Black Night, becoming the youngest average age female band ever to headline there (Su was 16 and a couple of months, Yui and Moa still only 14). They had just released their first album - they sold out both nights. 🤘🦊🤘 They were back at the Budokan as part of their 10th anniversary celebration and played 10 shows over the first 3 or 4 months of 2021.

Most of their albums have a focus on self growth. Some are graphic and address topics that are taboo but NEED to be brought out into the light. The song "Prison Sex" is is clearly about the cycle of abuse and how the abused becomes the abuser. "46 & 2" is a about the concept of shadow work (confronting and integrating the parts of you that you hide from yourself and others). There is a song "Right in Two" about the folly of man fighting over everything.

Good choice Kauffdrop!! The song is like a punch in the gut. More of a music project by Reznor than a band. Great mix of rock and electronic. Not to forget Reznor's qualities as a songwriter, which is particularly clear when you listen to Johnny Cash's great version of the song "Hurt". "Wish" is a song full of frustration, anger and rebellion against external constraints. Emotional anger and nihilism as one of the central themes of NIN, coupled with social criticism and perceived loss of control, seasoned with a touch of irony. As far as I know, they are touring Europe again in the summer for the first time in a long time.
