A lot of the actors have played in international movies, and can speak with good english/american accent. But they overplay the accent for fun

That dog was a Bu Hund I believe, it looks a bit like a lighter colored Shiba but it's a native norwegian farm dog. I think it's related to the Elk Hound.

Arvid's poem was paraphrasing an anti-war song by Country Joe and the Fish. A Woodstock classic.

When it comes to beeing institutionalized, I worked many years in the Norwegian prison education system. I had this one inmate that had 43 sentences, he was about 50 years old at the time. He seriously asked the prison warden if he could have a camper outside of the prison and come in to work the short periods he was a free man. He did not do very well outside. It is a thing. :)

I remember the consept and idea the producers told when making this series, was to see how today's modern life, mindset and social behaviors would look 1000 years back. If you put that perspective into it, the series is hillarous and kind of mocking the modern world.

Well if the times where reversed and the Vikings from 1100 years ago lived today they wouldnt flush the toilet twice to get rid of any leftovers.. THats for sure xD. MyHeritage puts me at 98% Norwegian, so i would probably be a pillager from that time. Today, im a programmer with a table that can rise electrically so that i can stand up from time to time.

The accent thing is on purpose. A bit for fun and a bit for it to sound "vikingish"
@kilipaki87oritahiti12 күн бұрын
Vikingish? Modern English didn’t exist back then. English is a western Germanic language related to Norwegian (north Germanic). Old English was similar to Old Norse so your comment makes no sense. And most Norwegians do sound like this when they speak English🤣🤣🤣🫣
@88Wern3r11 күн бұрын
@@kilipaki87oritahiti I know that but they are speaking english with an Norwegian accent, and norwegian has a lot of similarities to old norse, just like Iclandic, compared to how modern english is pronounced

They are "forcing" the accent a bit, but it is kind of rigth. ;)

Some might fake or exaggerated their Norwegian English accent a bit, but it’s not fake. Even in Norway we make fun and laugh at those who speak like this. And even though English is taught in school as our 2nd language, many do suck at English. Mostly out in the country side due to their dialect. So no, not everyone in Norway speaks “perfect” English. The whole “calmness” is part of the joke. I find it more entertaining seeing foreigners being too sensitive and take everything way too seriously. Again, it’s not that deep. It’s comedy. Think Norwegian version of Monthy Python, but Norse mode.

And lol slavery “was the real world”. Ever since the 1st cities arose with agriculture, slavery was part of life. Everyone had slaves. You were either born into it or you became one due to crime, debt or war. Barbarian is just what the ancient Greeks called everyone that wasn’t Greek and didn’t speak Greek hence: speaking barbar aka Barbarian.
