Steve Miller is a massively underrated Guitar Player, Singer and Songwriter. He has been on the scene since the early 70's, and even earlier making music. He was a Prep High School roommate of Boz Scaggs, in Texas, and he eventually wound up in San Francisco and started a band. Lots of great songs, "Fly Like An Eagle", "Jet Airliner", "Livin' In The USA", "Abracadabra", "Swingtown", "Take The Money And Run", "Mercury Blues". Seen him a couple of times live and he is EXCELLENT.

Donna is right when she points out that musicians known for being in a certain band will later turn up in another band. They are all professional musicians, and they need a gig to survive, so they will often join another band if their old band is finished, or fill in for someone else. Bernie Leadon of The Eagles used to be in The Flying Burrito Brothers, and also played in Linda Ronstadt's backing band. Joe Walsh (also of The Eagles) has also played in The James Gang and has had a successful solo career as well. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young were all from other bands and purposely put their band together so that they could go off and do other projects, either solo or in various combinations with each other. Axl Rose filled in for Brian Johnson on an AC/DC tour when Johnson had hearing problems, and when Queen did a tour after Freddie Mercury's death, they got Paul Rodgers to sing lead - and he had been the lead vocalist for Free, Bad Company and The Firm. And there are many musicians who are not famous in their own right, but back many other famous people on stage and in the studio, and people start to recognize them from live concerts or from reading the credits on albums. It can be an unstable life, but those who do it for a living have the drive to do it.

Steve Miller is a fun guy. He writes fun songs. Space Cowboy, The Stake, Wild Mountain Honey, and many others. His greatest hits album is just a taste of his greatness.

Steve Miller is hard to escape whenever he’s heard on the radio. He’s just that iconic. My favorite song from him, that you have to listen to next is “Jet Airliner”. Just one important note, it’s best to pair it up with “Threshold”, a synthesizer instrumental that has incredible sounds and is the first track on his album “Book of Dreams”.

The long-haired guitarist is Kenny Lee Lewis. He’s been part of Miller’s band since 1981. He has also collaborated with many other artists over the years. Another good song from this concert (Live From Chicago) for you to react to would be Miller’s big hit, “Jet Airliner” and/or “Jungle Love” - both are classics you will recognize and feature a bit more of Kenny on guitar. This concert was recorded July 13th & 14th, 2007, at Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, Illinois (pronounced “Ruh-vin-ee-ah”). Ravinia is a VERY classy outdoor venue and, since 1904, is the oldest outdoor music festival in North America. Ravinia has also been the summer home of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra since 1936. It’s very similar to Tanglewood in MA.

Steve Miller's real life Godfather is Les Paul... of Les Paul guitar fame. Les and Steve's parents, among others, used to hang out and jam together way back, post WW2. SM had a lot of musical influences growing up.

Steve Miller Band | The Joker ... Love Steve Miller. I went to so many concerts in the mid 70's that I would swear that Steve Miller was at the Anaheim concert with Lynyrd Skynyrd a month before the crash but he is not list as being there. It's possible because not all of the concerts had every band listed. Why I remember it is because The upper decks were really bouncing when Steve was on. More than any other group. Maybe 3 to 6 feet. I thought it was going to collapse. That's the kind of music that Steve brought. ...Fly Like An Eagle... Swing Town... Keep on Rocking me Baby...Dance Dance Dance....Take The Money And Run are just a few of his hits. BTW ...Anaheim is part of the larger Los Angeles area aka "Shaky Town" The decks were built to not collapse.

WOW, Steve Miller. So many fun songs. Saw him and Santana in Diamond Head Crater in Hawaii in 1971. That was a really GOOD day. "Space Cowboy", "Seasons" and "Goin' Up The Country" are 3 of my favs of his. He's one of the most under rated guitarists out there. I'm pretty sure he's still playin' Gota hand it to him, he made his mark in Rock n Roll history. Donna, you'll really like "Goin' Up The Country" Even if you don't react to it, give it a listen.

Hi ladies! Sometimes the live versions are better than the studio recording and other times the the studio recording is superior. This is one of those cases where their 70's studio is the better choice. But, despite them being older and live.. I still really enjoyed it. They really performed well and still sound awesome after all these years. Your reactions are great and I really enjoy each of your personalities. Have a nice evening y'all.
