one important shooting tip, MAKE SURE the shutter is closed before the DARKSLIDE comes out!!, this includes the focus lever on the lens(opens shutter for composition). if you want to know why, look at Nick carvers' video where he tries out NEW 55 film, at the tail end of the trip, you will know when, HINT, there is a cash register bell going off.

Just started a 4x5 journey myself. The only thing I'd say is to ditch the ball head. They are just to floppy. I have an old Manfrotto 3047 three-way head. It takes the weight better and is easier to center and make small adjustments with. Intrepid seems to have issues with the ground glass breaking. They do sell replacements. Also while color negs are great I love shooting B/W with HP5+ and both TMax100 and 400. I develop the negs myself and it have been nothing but fun.

good video, some TIPS for loading the Holders, the film is notched, this goes into the holder Right side UP, use your Index finger and thumb placed on the rail starting points, so the film goes into the FILM track, NOT the darkslide track!- the fingers guide it into the right one, plus tell you if the film edge is going astray, ALSO having the slide Partly in the holder helps to detect if the film is correctly loaded. lift up on the film edge after loading, ensuring the film is in the track, and HELD there! ; close the flap, and darkslide WHITE side{or clean metal side} OUT towards you [NOT Exposed], CHECK the flap is caught by the slide!! once exposed, turn the slide over to the BLACK side!!- to say this has been SHOT, and also if the whole holder is SHOT, define it in some way, tape the ends, add string, clips or simmilar, as DOUBLE exposing is EASY, as there is NO protections like in 35 or MF cameras!!
