OMG! I have never seen nor heard of a pressing comb but I really need to go get me one because that would make straightening my hair sooo much easier! For context, I’m a white lady with very curly and very frizzy, dry hair. My curls go all the way to my scalp and the nature of my hair means it pretty resistant to straightening so it takes a few passes of the flat iron to get it straight and smooth. It also means it’s quite difficult to straighten the roots near my scalp and I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve burned myself over the years. A pressing comb is the ideal freakin’ tool, where has that been all my life. No white hair dresser has ever mentioned them or used them so I can only assume my mistake was only ever having had my hair done by white people. Thank you for the is video. I learned some stuff that I think will be really useful in managing my hair.
@trishmalone563911 ай бұрын
Girlfriend, pressing combs/hot combs were the Original straighteners for black women. Back in the day there were no flat irons. You can get a pressing comb at just about any beauty supply store. I think once you try it, you will love it!🤩
@VioletDisregard2311 ай бұрын
@@trishmalone5639 I have actually since gone out to shops in my area to look but they don’t stock them. The nearest thing they have are those hot brushes which definitely don’t go anywhere near my roots. I think the problem is that the area I live is very white and there just aren’t any black people. There does seem to be a more diverse range of people moving into the area over the last couple of years though which has been nice to see but the North Shore area of Auckland (New Zealand) is suuuper white so I’m going to have to order my comb online.
