Love your straight forwardness. I related to so many of the things you said. It is really strange how we accustom ourselves to a 'look.' How we don't easily recognize ourselves without it. On a side note, you were talking about hydration, I didn't know! Thanks. Here are some other supplements, specifically for hair, that a friend told me about. I love the response in the growth and health I have experienced with my hair, probably skin (but I haven't noticed): Glutathione, N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine and BioAstin (Astaxanthin)

I'm white, I have always felt that black women often have a natural beauty that gets hidden when they wear wigs or fake things. I would say I feel that way in general about women of all races. I've seen plenty of black women without any of these things and thought "gorgeous, wow" but I've never felt that way about the ones who have fake stuff all over.
@etherealessence1596 ай бұрын
Me either as much. I stay away from fake eyelashes, nails and fake hair. I used to be into the fake stuff more when I was younger though.

That’s funny my white husband rip demystified how you your sister your mothers and grandmothers wear wigs toppers hair pieces clip on falls, etc. don’t play obtuse like you guys aren’t the queen of fake care you are it’s just that you aren’t over exposing yourself nor are the males of your race dissing you because of it
@pinkchilldivestmentor5 ай бұрын
I have mixed feelings I think this is an individual choice and black women are the only ones who have to make all these announcements as white and nonblack women are steadily wearing their wigs clip ons extensions toppers, falls, etc. they just don’t advertise their insecurities like black women do
@rosemary_and_vines3 ай бұрын
Thank you for the comment. Unfortunately the "standard" of beauty in media and the zeitgeist isn't afro or natural hair. It's getting better don't get me wrong, but a lot of black women still feel its better to use wigs and weaves to fit in. They still look beautiful and amazing and wigs and weaves can be part of their style and if they boost confidence I love that for them. But as you've seen, its hard not to notice a full, wonderful afro.

Remember where this body and beauty image has stemmed from. Beauty comes from within. There are so many people who society/media have named beautiful but these people cannot hold on to a relationship. So it’s not all about looks, it’s about you as a person. What is the point of being with someone because they fit in with society as being beautiful / handsome and they are boring as hell . So glad your hair is back to its healthy state. 🙏💖

@rosemary_and_vines2 ай бұрын
I am sorry to hear that, hair loss can trigger us to feel down about ourselves. There are many reasons why our hair starts thinning and some of them are out of control. In my journey I have found any styles that restrict my scalp, harsh chemicals and other factors such as diet and stress can affect our hair. I normally start from the inside out : eliminate stress, eat foods that support and nourish my body and then give my hair some love through gentle care. Best wishes on your hair journey
