As someone who loves to sing and has talent but has never sang in front of my friends or family due to extreme shyness and insecurities, it's so comforting to know that I am not the only one that struggles with this. I can so relate to some of them sweating it before they open their mouths to sing. It is easier to sing in front of those you don't know vs. those you are close to or know personally.

Legitimately cried. I don't cry. But something about this... concept of being behind a wall afraid to show yourself to others because of what...criticism? How many great singers are out there riding around scared? I know I am (not a great singer-scared to sing in front of others) and it drastically limits the ability to practice and improve, get constructive feedback, lessons etc. It's like if you aren't perfect right off the bat you can't sing or something... The clip of dude cranking it up around 1 min in front of the guys demonstrates a substantial amount of courage if it really truly was random and out of context.

Sometimes people haven't got the self confidence. My daughter sang in front of the entire school for her first time singing in front of anyone but me. Jaws dropped, she was highly emotional after and I had to hide from her so she didn't get the giggles. I told her to sing at last, she nailed it.

I can sing in front of 10 000 strangers..but can’t hit one note if my family or friends are listening! I don’t get it..am I alone here? I almost became a professional, but my anxiety and fear, along with colon cancer, killed that idea, but want to try it again..it’s not easy…but I must have survived for a reason, I was supposed to die.
