It is kind of amazing to think that the remnant glacier you were at the bottom of is the last of the ice that started as a two mile deep sheet that extended well south of the border. Then 18000 years ago it began to retreat and now all that is left there of an ice sheet that was large enough it shifted the axis of rotation of the planet and was thousands of feet deep where you stood is that little glacier peaking over that drop calving cooler sized chunks of blue ice down on to the snowfield below. I bet the sledding was epic 19,000 years ago. 👍

How much trail riding do you do compared to off trail? If you’re not riding in deep snow off trail frequently id recommend a Polaris switchback assault. It’s a really good crossover. It’s got good power and you can take it off trail if you want to but it’s going to be way better on the trails compared to a mountain sled. I’ve also ridden a 2015 skidoo renegade backcountry. If you don’t mind a used sled I’d highly recommend it (I rode a 600 version and loved it). If your exclusively riding trail I’d avoid any mountain sled. I currently ride an Arctic car m8000 hcr. So I’m not really biased towards any brand. They all make great sleds
@nsa67903 жыл бұрын
@@aidenrylott6688 I agree with this. The switchback is essentially just a trail sled with a longer rail and track, which makes it perfect for the person who rides mostly trail but likes to drive off in the POW every once and awhile. The backcountry from doo is lot more deep pow oriented and will slay any trail sled off the trail, but that also makes it suffer on the trail.

So you’re killing it on a 146. I’ve got a 137 free ride with a 2.25 paddle. Although not the weapon of choice it’s the weapon that I’ve got. Do you think it would be “doable“ in the terrain you rode today? I’m contemplating 146 rails to extend it but for the one trip west a year from the flatlands of Minnesota I’m not sure it’s worth it.
@MuskokaFreerider3 жыл бұрын
It really depends on your skill level. For today a 137 would’ve been fine especially since there were old tracks but it’s it’s a little deeper and no tracks then you’d struggle. But also make do with what you have!
