Interesting guide. You could consider going “forward” with the bar, as in the normal way it’s used to cut, rather than cutting with the top side of the bar. I think you’d find you get a lot less sawdust on yourself, and might achieve a faster cut? Also, if you insert a wedge into the end that is being cut, it will keep the flitch from pinching the bar and will help with cutting action. It might also pay to use proper length screws to fasten your guide board? Cut large V’s in the 4x4’s and it will help stop the log from rolling. Obviously, you’re just testing it out at this point, but these are a few suggestions for the future, FWIW -😊

Awesome, thanks for the tips! It definitely was lugging and I like the idea of flipping it around and seeing if that works better. And less sawdust in my mouth would be nice too. V in the 4x4 is a good one too. Hopefully the next session will go much more easily!

I am not sure they make a ripping blade for my saw. It has the very thin kerf blade. But I'll do some searching.

@ you Canon do it by your own… it isn’t a big deal, if you can handle a file… I did this with my one to and it worked pretty well. ;)
