It's not pineapple, it's sweet potato (kamote) :)
@ElyMarasigan2 жыл бұрын
If y'all haven't tried these.. Highly recommend "Kare kare with shrimp paste" if you're not allergic to peanuts, Sinigang, Bulalo, real Lechon, Binagoongan, Siarsiadong Tilapia, Lumpiang sariwa, Pinakbet.. Spicy ones like: Bicol express, Gising gising, and Caldereta. I'm sure you'll be enjoying these.. (also just typing this, for real making me drool 😅)
@artvine17042 жыл бұрын
Sooo cute, hehe. By the way, that's not a pineapple in your Bilo-Bilo. That's actually what we call KAMOTE also known as sweet potato so it is squishy. The ube color there is actually a balled glutinous rice with ube extract and coloring.

Based on the shape and color, it looks like Taro roots, not sweet potato 😁

On New Year's Eve, stay at the Mall of Asia or BGC for the fireworks and live shows...Btw, try going to Okada Casino in Manila and the new Mitsukoshi Mall in BGC.

I hate New Year’s Eve in Metro Manila… too much smoke, noise, and nonsense revelry. We go to the mountains for that much needed peace and solitude. Just letting you know, guys. If you’re apt to it, yeah suffer… but really!
@nightwing40652 жыл бұрын
@@polgonzales Very true, New Year's Eve in the Philippines is like Fourth of July on steroids. It's crazy! Haha. I'm not so sure if the current administration has restrictions on fireworks.😅👍

25:47 That pineapple you're describing in Bilo bilo is not pineapple, its actually sweet potato or in tagalog we call it "kamote" ☺ Pares is kinda underrated for foreigners and Adobo is so overrated (like much known) But for my opinion Pares is better ulam than Adobo 😉 Hopefully you both could try Pares in some streets there in Manila, affordable and tasty 😃

The beef stew you had is called beef pares. Kuya J’s version is an adaption of the original beef pares which are usually eaten in small roadside eateries which specialize in that. The best part of the bangus is the fatty belly.

You can ask the waiter to serve your dessert after your meal. Btw, 3 of the best Filipino restaurant is in Greenbelt mall. Fely J’s (grnblt 4), Mesa (grnblt 4), and Manam (grnblt 2) and special mention for Gerry’s Grill and Bench Cafe both in Greenbelt 3.

Almost all of those are in smn/trinoma as well. Most malls in the Philippines have the same tenants.

Kangkong (kanng kong) = water spinach and you should ask the waiter what the dishes are. The halo-halo topping is Le'che -flan. They use evaporated milk on shaved ice, The bilo-bilo has coconut milk, tapioca, jackfruit, yam (root crop), sometimes, sweet potatoes, beans, etc.

Always like watching your videos. Just a comment on the Ginataan/guinataan…it might not have been pineapple that you ate cause ginataan does not usually have pineapple. Must have been the sweet potato. Maybe that’s why the texture was different. Anyway, continue to enjoy the food of the Philippines! I was in Manila for a very short visit (November 12-18). I didn’t go around much cause of the traffic and the heat, but I frequented Robinsons Magnolia which was just a three minute walk from my mom’s place. I was hoping to see you doing your usual mall rounds but I guess I wasn’t lucky enough. I’m back in Vancouver, Canada. Take care.
