This is my first time hearing Goto Tendon. I'd say there are 3 types of Pares: (1)The upscale - lets put Goto Tendon in this category. Anything around 200-300+ (2)The mid tier AKA The Original Pares - these are the ones you buy in carinderia/canteen. These are served in combo of 3. The Broth, the sliced beef with the sauce, & garlic rice. Normally priced around 100+. (3) Pares Kalye (Street Pares) - the street food type and the cheapest. Priced below 80.

Beef pares in Makati (The JolliJeep) is always the best. My favourite is the "Mami Pares" which is egg noodles + Beef pares. You should try that!

Tried it in Illinois when my cousin from Cali came over. I took him to St. Louis to buy the recipes of pares and monggo. It was so delicious, especially the broth. But when I had it in Baguio, the taste was quite different...kinda tastier. We lacked ingredients, I guess.

The one in Goto Tendon is called Pares Retiro. I don't know why they call it retiro. I prefer the Beef Pares in food stalls because support small businesses.

Good comparison. I eat my beef pares like you do but I also add some of the clear "sabaw" with the rice along with some chili oil and fried garlic. Then I would also order a serving of plain rice to consume after the garlic rice.

Mergim you need to put some of that pares on top of the rice. It’s the right way to eat it! Sabaw 😂 It’s also easier this way. You don’t have to dip that spoonful of rice into the pares.

The original beef pares is named "PARES" only. No prefix and suffix. Originated in Q.C. They serve the original ingredients and tastes good/better than other claiming 'Pares' etc karinderia or resto.
