Hi Tater...it seems that you are enjoying the Philippines as you gradually explore the country. We are so diverse, each city or province has something to offer not only to beautiful tourist destinations but also the diverse food. Sometimes , the common food like the bulalo has many variations all over the country. I am for the south and if you are up to explore diverse food varieties...you should try Davao City. We serve so much variety of local food or even fruits. We pride of our tuna dishes like 'panga, buntot, durian, mangosteen. White sand beach experience (but not the expensive ones) is a stone throw away from the city. Also there is a night market open every night at the heart of the city.You can also check out cheaper hotels or inns or even b&b for accommodation. HIghly recommended destination..i am from Davao but now based in Vancouver Canada.

Bulalo.. I eat the dish at least twice a month. Best when cooked for at least 8hrs using low fire. Really brings out the rich flavor.

I dont know why, but they shouldve recommended you the "fried tawilis" it is a known delicacy which is endemic in the Taal Lake. Anyways, hope you enjoyed your bulalo. Keep safe and have fun always!

free-range, grass-fed Batangas beef. Very tough meat but when stewed til tender gives you the best hearty beef flavor. CAFO -raised beef doesnt come close.

I'm a Filipino, I would suggest for those who wants to live or visit our country, please know the currency rates, travel fare( taxi, jeep, tricycle, prices of the hotel, apartment, condominium, food, restaurant) because I hate to say this but few of our people are taking advantage of the foreigners, well I think most of the countries have that kind of people too, so All I want to say is be smart and aware so you will not be the victim of those people, don't get me wrong most of the Filipinos are very hospitable people I would suggest to try our breathtaking beaches, cities and delicious delicacies and local food I love my county, the more foreigners to come, more job for Filipinos

pls don't eat the calamnsi seeds. they're bitter...also what Filipinos do with calamnsi is mix it with patis (fiah sauce) and either pour a little on a piece of bulalo beef or on rice before you eat it. the salty/sour taste balances out the richness of the bulalo broth.
