I’ve been using Carols Daughters Black Vanilla leave in spray and also As I am Restore and Repair Jamaican Castor Oil Water spray as my daily sprays But when my hair needs emergency moisture I use Placenta Leave In Instant Conditioning treatment spray. Anything with a lot of heavy oils and glycerin I will not use. They really dry my hair out. Good luck everyone on your loc journeys!

I just love your hair!! I haven’t tried any of those products , but thanks for your review. I’ve tried Locsanity… talk about curly ends… I love that stuff! I use it only once or twice a week then I use water the rest of the time to reactivate what’s already in my hair, and my ends look just like yours. The only thing is my locks are immature. I’m only four months in, but loving it so far!❤ .

When my hair feels crunchy. I wash it using ORS moisturizing shampoo. Then I use ether rose or aloe Vera water. Then add a olive oil or jojoba oil. I use foams only when I am doing braid/twist out. When I do go swimming the same method but before I add the oil I put a shower cap on and create a greenhouse method

I've tried the Aussie mousse on my locs before, when curling my hair. After I finished what I bought I never used it again. I found that it left white flakes on my locs once it dried. 4/10 for me.

@@TheRealKylaB I did notice that once I put the mousse on my hair and it dried that my locs looked really dull and flaked when I ran my fingers through them. But the mousse washed out fine.

I have tried the Mielle Mousse on my locs. The first product I have used since I had my SL installed (my locs will be 2 years in August) and my scalp was so dry and dandruffy.. it’s all the oils in it

Thanks for the reviews. I'm curious as to why you didn't choose products that are made specifically for locs. Does it not matter after you've been loc'd for a while?
@TheRealKylaB
@TheRealKylaB Жыл бұрын
Specifically for black hair is good enough for me. A lot of those products are just marketed for locs. But they’re not special. In my opinion.

How does one decrease dryness and tangles with only shampooing? We are told not to use butters oils or conditioners. While I do spray water daily, my hair still feels dry. Im 8 months in and still lost🤦🏾‍♀️

Hello Sis, thanks for your cobtents. I started my 2 strands twist microlocs with an 11 inch hair. 😢😢 sadly I have watch it shrink to like 3 inches. It is no longer beautiful, this defeats the purpose of starting this journey. I was so excited when I started this journey but i am frustrated now. Is this normal? I was 4 weeks yesterday.
@TheRealKylaB
@TheRealKylaB Жыл бұрын
so, here's the thing. I don't know what your "purpose" for starting your locs was. But I do know that shrinkage is 100%, absolutely normal. It is expected for anyone with textured hair. In fact, shrinkage is a requirement for the loc process to work. It shrinks in order to swell, and mats/locs as it swells. It can only do that, in it's natural state. Being stretched will significantly slowwwwwwwwwwww down the locking process and will keep your hair thin and skinny looking. If the reason you locked your hair was to have locs, then you are on the right path. If your reason for loc'ing your hair was length, then you have to be in for the long haul. 4 weeks in, is like 1 minute in a loc journey. . . and you have a longgg way to go. my hair is 3 years old in this video, for point of reference. Though, I thought my hair was beautiful from the moment my hair was installed. shrinkage didn't bother me one bit. and as far as YOUR hair being beautiful, that is a state of mind you are going to have to build if you want to continue the loc journey. The reason I loc'd my hair was for convenience. That was my "purpose." I didn't care about how it looked. If I didn't like it, I was going to cut my hair off (which I've done like 6 times already - like down to my scalp). I'm not particularly attached to my hair. It grows back. quite frankly, I believe I look pretty without hair or with it. My hair is not what makes me beautiful. Though, I think my natural hair and all its texture is cute even when it is only 1 inch long. What I love about the loc journey (which is the reason I do not offer loc extensions) is that it is literally a journey. I love watching my clients fall in love with their natural hair, the way it grows from their scalp - unapologetically, intentionally, and without faults. Watching them embrace the shrinkage that their hair does naturally, loving the way their hair texture dictates the outcome of their journey, learning how their hair behaves in its natural state, and then watching the confidence grow as the hair does, is something I will never take for granted. Unfortunately, so many of us never really get the chance to experience that type of self love where it pertains to our hair. I say this to say, you'll need to shift your perspective and learn to love your hair (and all it's shrinkage) if you want locs. If you just want long hair that is loc'd, you're going to have to wait a few years. If that's not something you want to do, then you may have to comb your locs out and wear your hair in a straighter hair style. Only you know what's best for YOU. Hope this helps. ❤️ sorry for the essay
