My girlfriend and me just bought a couple of these. A friend of mine who is an outdoor pursuits instructor recommended it highly, saying he felt it outperformed sleeping bags he’d used that were in the £500+ range. We tested them last weekend in what is still a very wintery feeling Snowdonia; Yr Arddu near Cnicht, and were more than happy with how warm they kept us. It reached a low of 1 degree C overnight and I even needed to open the bag up a little at one stage as was even too warm.

Good sleeping bag ,i got one and had it down to -4 very comfortable and even had it down to -13 not so comfortable but if you considering cold winter camping m the UK I'd keep the 3 season nature hike cloud peak for the rest of the year and as you will start to feel the draft due to the ventilation on the inner and invest in a 4 season winter tent . Even at temps just below freezing it'll be your cloud up 2 tent letting you down not your sleeping bag 👍

I’ve just received my first sleeping bag a Burghaus Transition 300 today it also comes in a compression sack. I’ve had it out twice & managed to get it back into its sack I even tried folding it in half the sleeping bag no no lol. I’m just waiting for this endless lockdown to end & I’m going on my first ever wild camp at the age of um 42 lol

The less you wear in your down bag the more effective you will probably find it. Zip is a bit of a challenge, but you just have to take your time with it to avoid baffles getting caught. Good movement inside and I like the fact you can rotate inside without the bag moving with you. I've just purchased the Sea To Summit Thermolite Fleece Liner, for the really cold weather. Should be interesting.

I bought this bag earlier in the year and used it a few weeks ago. Only got down to about 5 degrees, but I was toasty warm, and it felt snuggly! It does lose a few feathers, but nothing major, and it's a great pack size once compressed. Just in case, I have bought a Thermolite extreme liner for winter camping for when we come out of lockdown, and have upgraded my mat to a Multimat Summit 25/38 xl, which seems a good specification for the price. A good sleep is essential to me when I'm camping.

Thank you, I wondered if the bag has the shoulder baffle ? Like my mountain warehouse summit 250 ? Your so lucky to be able to get out into what looks like a natural woods. Only have man made evergreen ones nearby me. Which usually means no room for a tent as planted in rows in a trench. Perhaps I should think hammock lol. Lovely video thank you

I enjoyed your review and was impressed by your kit. I carry a glow stick hang it at the bottom of the tent. It's great when you wake in the dark looking for something. Just enough light. On a foggy dark night when I go for water or a pee I hang it on the outside to guide me back.

Get on Wildbeare 👍. Glad you got out and used your shiny new bag. I'm not sure if you have a sleeping bag liner but it would be a good option for making your sleep system a bit warmer plus it would prolong the life of your nice new sleeping bag as it stops your sweat and natural oils on your skin from making the feathers clump together. Fleece or silk liners are spot on but cotton is poo 👎. Thanks for sharing mate. Atb Sconja 👍

I bought this bag for £100 using a discount, I used it in the Peaks pre lockdown, lowest night time temperature was zero deg. Tent was well ventilated, I use a synthetic liner, didn’t have a base layer on, I was comfortable without shoulder baffle and hood pulled in. In addition I used a Neo air and foil underlay, I’m dubious of the claimed temperatures also, I wasn’t overheating.

Hey Claire the best way to use the sleeping bag is either just in your underwear or a thin base layer. Down traps body heat, if your wearing lots of layers then they stop the down doing what it's designed to do. If your worried you will be too cold, use your jacket on top of the bag. Also sleeping bags are designed to keep the heat in, not warm you up. You will find a lot of extreme. Cold campers and the like will actually do a warm up exercise just before getting into their bags, the warmer you are climbing in, the better the bag works. I know it sounds wierd but honestly try either naked, skivvies or thin base later only, you will be amazed how much warmer you stay.

Davey Boy Goes Wild What you said is very true. Simply a change of clothes removes the moisture from your body. So often this is overlooked! Here’s a hint... if you wake up freezing, try eating a chocolate bar or something similar, it works! Great comment Dave !

@rory6089 3 жыл бұрын
I agree with a lot of what you are saying, but it's not very practical (getting down to her undies) for Claire as she is camping on her own. I'd say she feels a lot safer with multiple layers on. Too be honest, I don't think there is any need for the reflective mat as the Thermarest sleeping mat should be fine on its own.

Insulation doesn't work like that Davey. At the end of the day that's all a sleeping bag is, down or no down. Unless the clothes are wet you will always be warmer wearing more than less. You wouldn't expect to be colder wearing a jacket in bed than not.

Decent sleeping bag/systems sometimes suggest wearing less rather than more. If getting in a cold bag is too brutal, heat some water and put it in a couple of plastic bottles and get the bag warmed up before stripping down and securing yourself in. If you get cold when temps drop, supplement from the outside of the bag. Nothing like being comfortable despite whatever weather!

My MW bag is great for spring summer, although there will be lighter bags, it's nothing special (and it's synthetic) but it does the job in warmer months and I do love it :) You'll deffo need something warmer for winter, down is great, I don't know much about hammocking but if you get a down bag, make sure you have a super warm mat or something underneath you as the down is pretty much useless underneath you as it will be compressed under your body weight

@LowPlainsDrifter60
@LowPlainsDrifter60 4 жыл бұрын
There are two disciplines when it comes to sleeping bags. Those that sleep naked or with minimum clothing & those that wear a lot of insulatiing clothes. When one sleeps in the buff, one's body heat warms up the inside of the bag & the heat is then trapped by the insulation, which is how a bag is designed to function. Wearing a lot of clothes however, the air inside the bag doesn't warm up or only marginally, since the clothing prevents heat from escaping from the body & so it can be a little chilly & of course more retrictive, which also means less air in the inside,....less trapped air = less retained heat It's always good to experiment to see which works better for you. 👍🏼

If the clothing prevents the heat leaving the body, then you aren't losing that heat in the first place. I don't see how more layers can ever equal being colder 🤔

@@WildBeare Well, the idea of a sleeping bag is to be in a bubble of warm air at body temerature. It is air than insulates & the filling of the bag is supposed to trap that warmed air & prevent it from escaping. Once your body has initially warmed up the air in the bag & the filling does it's job, you won't need to keep warming up the air in the bag.& it will act like a radiator set at 37°C. ..which also means your extremities will be toasty too. If wearing multiple layers of clothes or insulting outdoor clothes in the bag, then the air inside cannot be warmed up sufficiently to be of any benefit, & so you will end up sleeping in a layer cold air, next to your clothes, only marginally warmer than the air outside the bag.....plus wearing clothes also reduces the air available to be warmed up, both next to your body & in the bag. If one has a high performance sleeping bag, then one can trust it but as I said, experiment. I think that by shedding a few layers, you may be colder at first until the air in the bag warms up but then you'll be warmer throughout the night......and you'll be less cramped. If you have to get up in the night though, yes it's a bummer, but if you close your bag after leaving it, it should retain sufficient heat so you won't be shivering when you get back in.😂

Have to agree with this comment . I regularly sleep in subzero .. Aclima netting marino wool layer, this allows you to have a wool layer and heat the bag. A nalgene bottle of hot water in the bag for 20 mins before sleep is a good trick. Keep some softies in your bag if you do need to get up and out you can put them on in the bag.

Hi, thats a nice sleeping bag! I buy the Therm A Rest Questar 20F/-6°C, Comfort 0 and Limit -6°C Weight is 990 Gramm. I buy it together with the Trail Pro because the sleeping bad is thinner on the back to reduce weight. I check it our on a very rainiy night last week and + 6°C and sleep very well. Sure its not for all the best way using Down, but 1 i like the weight and 2 they warm fast. The Questar Downs are prepaired with NikWax and not so vulnerable to moist. I try it this season and the next year and if i be lucky i will see if i can expense the system. I thought before i buy it if its - 5°C at the day time i am not so happy to freeze my b... in the night with - xx°C. Maybe with friends and fire but for that ai have another bag. Your Sleeping Bag looks very comfortable and the price seems ok for what you got. I wish you nice times with it! Greetings from Germany, Kalli

Hello Claire, I'm really glad your experience with the bag was such a good one. I'd like to ask you which tent you used in this video, and seek your opinion on it. Your views will be appreciated and valued. Thank Claire. Stay safe and cosy lovely lass. All the best, Keith xx PS. . On those rare days when I venture out. I currently use a massive American forces artic warfare bag, which even when highly compressed, shrinks down to the size of a small car. . So I'm considering alternatives, when my pension allows. . Cheers !!💋
