The way Aang was determined to be the Avatar is similar to how the Dalai Lama of Tibetan Buddhism is determined. Also the last name of the current Dalai Lama is Gyatso.

Unless more people watch because the videos are longer. Watching one or two a week will take half a year to finish. Many people are not as likely to watch it if it takes longer to complete

It always blows my mind that the worst episode of the show is right before one of the best episodes of the show. Which tragically has caused some people to quit watching the show, they watch the Great divide, think the show is bad, and give up. But if they had just watched one more episode they would have been completely invested.

Really enjoy your reactions. IMO, The Storm is the first great episode of ATLA followed by another one in The Blue Spirit. Some of the best episodes of ATLA parallel the journeys of Aang and Zuko like done in The Storm. I love the creativity of the action in The Blue Spirit along with Momo vision and Aang's words to Zuko at the end. It is also a nice touch at the end with Zuko turning his back on the Fire Nation banner. . Most people consider The Great Divide to be ATLA's weakest episode and, while I might agree, I still like it for the animation and even the "lie" at the end. Also while I didn't watch ATLA until I was an adult but I've read many comments that say that Nick reran The Great Divide ad nauseum so people got really sick of it.

Hard to answer without spoiling to much but basically two brothers trying to right a wrong they caused with alchemy. I would have to agree it is one of the best anime ever created just be prepared for some emotionally draining episodes, but the pay off is worth the tears.

Thematically the entire show is about the grieving process. But the plot is... Brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric, are young alchemists searching for the legendary Philsopher's Stone, hoping to use it to restore their bodies, after a horrible accident with alchemy. Edward, joins the State Military, which gives him the freedom, money, and contacts to continue the search. However, Edward and Alphonse are not the only ones seeking the powerful stone.

Love the three episode format! Good call :D The Blue Spirit reveal was so good, and The Storm really did a LOT of work in one episode to add depth to Zuko and Aang. (The Great Divide ...exists. I don't hate it, honestly, and it does serve a minor purpose for the characters, but it really is as close as this series gets to filler.)

Who this girl is will get much much clearer later. She doesn't show up much in season 1 here, but will have a bigger role in the live action adaptation. So it would be nice if you guys are somewhere further along with season 2, 3 or maybe even be done by then.
