13:19 "If he was a wee bit closer, I could lob a caber at 'im, ken?" Tossing the caber is a game played at the Highland Games, a caber being a massive wooden log, as seen at 14:59. So he's saying that he could throw a caber at him, if he was just a little closer. "Ken?" is basically Scots for "Y'know?" 24:58 "Since yer sayin' it an' ah wisn't there t' see it maself, I'll gae ahead and take yer word fer it though." - Since you're saying it and I wasn't there to see it myself, I'll just take your word for it. 40:39 "It's jist nae fair makin us ficht for the hand o the quine that disnae want any bit o it. Ken?" - Quine = girl. It just isn't fair making us fight for the hand of a girl that doesn't want any part of it, y'know?

The brown ones are not that evil, it seems, but it’s still better to look for cover or back away. There are a lot of them in Kamchatka; they even got into our tent. He scattered everything, climbed the mountain and left. But they even climb perfectly well. There the slope was 80 degrees, about 10 meters in height at least. The bear got up in a couple of seconds.

*But if you really look into it, the witch’s spell worked.* Not for the reason that the queen became a bear upon eating the cake, it is because she shifted her opinion on things, including Merida’s marriage. (which is what Merida wanted in the first place)

I love the movie but I think it would have been better if it had Merida learn something too because even at the end she doesn't really seem to learn anything and she gets what she wants. She is the future queen and she doesn't take any responsibility for anything. The marriage is not something anyone in her family wants, it's a necessity for the future of the kingdom and instead of taking responsibility and choosing a suitor, she ends up doing what she always wanted since the beginning which is push it off so she can ride her horse and do archery. I would love a sequel where she actually takes responsibility and marries one of the suitors. It would be nice to see a more wild princesses like Merida fall in love with one of them.
@nuwandas16
@nuwandas16 9 ай бұрын
@paige8453 Sounds like you missed an important part. She did learn a lot of things, as is obvious in the speech she gives. That very much is her taking responsibility. She's fixing the whole mess by combining her (valid) convictions with what she learned, with some little help from her mum, which she can finally use because they both listen to each other and take both their duties as well as their personal wishes into consideration. That's why her mum is so proud of her in that moment. She never should've had to sacrifice her own happiness and be forced into a marriage, and as she rightly explains, a marriage that wasn't even necessary in the first place. The Clans are already close and have each other's back, the marriage thing was senseless tradition just for the sake of decorum. That is what the Queen finally understood, and why she made Merida say they're breaking that tradition. None of the kids wanted it, it was unnecessary, it just would've made them miserable for no reason. The right to self-determination is the whole point of that storyline, and that no one should have to sacrifice their happiness for "duty", especially not if it's pointless nonsense. And the fact that Merida doesn't want or need some prince by her side is one of the things about her that make her so awesome and different from other typical princess stories.
@ravenm6443
@ravenm6443 4 ай бұрын
The argument between Merida and her mom is probably one of my favorite scenes in this film! The reason why is because the dialogue and the actors did such a good job that it felt like a real argument between a mom and daughter. When Merida said she’d rather die, you really feel the visceral anger she has toward her mom on this issue. And when the mom throws Merida’s bow in the fire and then tries to save it, you can feel how mortified her mother was at her own actions in that moment, recognizing that what she had done was too extreme and hurtful. The actors emotions in that scene were very believable and it’s for that reason I love this scene.
@emillypiety6289

I think the reason Mor'du was after Merida is that some part of him deep down still had some awareness that this wasn't him, that it was something he wanted to escape and he didn't know how... But Merida knew. Mor'du probably went after the witch alone and no one knew what happened, there was no one to help him break the spell and even after years some desperate party of him wanted to free myself from the spell. But he wasn't himself anymore, so his instinct as a bear was to attack Measure even if he didn't want to, He couldn't control it, as if the spell was forcing him to attack the only person who had the answers he wanted. In the end he got the relief he wanted and freed himself through death.

I'm surprised that you've never heard of will-o'-wisps before. They're part of European folk-lore, although there are legends of them in other territories, too. However, the will-o'-wisps of legend are not the friendly, helpful things that they are in this movie. They supposedly appear to be like a flickering lantern flame in the mists over a swamp, bog, or marsh. Of course, this is a legend from many years ago. They're an actual atmospheric phenomenon caused, in part, by the gases released by such bodies of stagnant water. Because they looked like a flickering lantern light or torch, people would follow them, especially if they were lost or confused while trying to get through a swamp or bog when it was dark. The people would then fall into the waters of the swamp and drown. The will-o'-wisps are also called ghost lights or jack-o-lanterns. Because people who tried to follow them usually died, you were never supposed to follow them anywhere.

Growing up, Brave was one of my favourite child-hood shows and Merida was one of my movie crushes and no matter how much time has passed, I really would've loved a Brave 2, but if I'm being honest, the show ended well, meaning there probably wouldn't be a need for a part 2. Next show Don gotta watch is the HTTYD trilogy. Also if you have to rank the major bears from most dangerous to least dangerous, then it'd be Polar Bear as the most dangerous, because they are the only carnivorous bear and this is because where they live has no vegetation or plants. Grizzly/Brown Bears would be second to Polar Bears, then Black Bears being the least dangerous among the other 2. I don't know where Pandas and Sloth Bears sit though.

Not a lot of lyrics, good atmospheric feeling, it helps you get in the zone like nothing else. I love this movie so much. This and Inside Out are definitely my favorite Pixar movies. The old Scottish legends say that the will o the wisp is either a mischievous fairies or a ghost that is trapped by their past deeds. They were said to lead travelers astray from the path as people that followed them would find themselves lost in bogs. Scientist say that they are "fox fire", or a naturally occurring light from escaping swamp gasses and that lost travelers would most likely have followed them thinking they were near civilization or at least another traveler. In many legends the wisp's are said to either be friendly and lead the courageous home, or not friendly and lead the cowardly or greedy to their doom. In the story of Brave, they seem to be more friendly, protecting the innocent. I do not know for sure but I believe that Mor dou turned into a wisp at his death because he had a lot to make up for, but he was grateful for finally being freed from his curse. At the time that Brave is set in, it was very common to betroth children as soon as they were born, in order to secure the borders of your kingdom, or to gain a neighboring kingdom as an ally. Those that waited to betroth their children often found themselves with a wealth of suitors and even battles over the marriages if the kingdom was wealthy or powerful enough. Brides were often kidnapped and they would hide out until they had gotten the girl pregnant, which turned into the tradition of the honeymoon. Girls were sometimes married as children, but most often as soon as they reached womanhood- for some that would be very young. Later on it became regular to ask the ruler for permission to marry, or for the ruler to arrange marriages, sometimes by proxy, between clans and landholders to better the kingdom. It was common for a young woman to be told she was married to a perfect stranger, and as soon as he arrived she would be expected to meekly pack her bags and leave with him, often never seeing her family again. Love was not in the equation, you married for protection, securing the borders, wealth, or power. Courtly love, flirtation alone, was expected and some couples actually found love in their marriages, but it was not the regular. Keep in mind, divorce was not the usual either, the only exception if one of the married couple was impotent or unable to have children. Women were expected to bear " an heir and a spare" because infant mortality was so common, and girls were married off young, because the life expectancy was so short, you were old by the time you reached 30, if you were lucky enough to live that long.

Black bears are the smallest of the three and the least likely to attack humans. Grizzly bears (aka brown bears) are much more aggressive but usually only attack to defend their territory or cubs. Polar bears are the largest and the most aggressive. Polar bear attacks are also more likely to be fatal. Living in the far north where food is scarce means they're almost always hungry, so unlike black bears and grizzly bears, polar bears often eat their victims.

About the bears, the black bear you need to yell and hit at if it charges you. Do not play dead cause it will try to eat you as black bears do scavenge other predators kills and chase them off. The Grizzly is if I'm not wrong a fair bit bigger than the black bear and you might think that's a bad thing, but since it has much fewer natural competitors it will not see you as food and leave you alone if you play dead.

And then of course if its a Polar Bear: you might as well off yourself. Because if it sees you; your dead.

@@TimberlakeTigerGirl I can echo that, when they got to close during their seasons of wandering to find a mate, Greenland always needs to find them before they get to cities and tranquilize them to fly them waaaaaay out where they used to be. It's the reason to use sledges and dogs cause the dogs know that what ever you are instructing.. They will not run into a Polar bear they will stay very much away from them and you trust their instinct to do so.

I know I'm late to the party. And people can correct me if I'm wrong. But from my understanding it was never about the tapestry. Them sewing up the tapestry would have never done anything for the mother. It was about their apologies and them overcoming their pride to each other the mother had already done her part when she told the daughter to break tradition. It wasn't until Merida also apologized for her part in being prideful that actually broke the spell on the mother. The tapestry was just a plot device so kids could understand it.

If you wanna do a Disney story you should watch the original "Beauty and the Beast" (its my favorite) And non Disney animated movie would be "Anastasia " If you want more recent you can try "Frozen" " Frozen 2" and "Tangled". Also "Elementals" those would be good.

Disney movies you should watch: 1. Maleficent watch sleeping beauty first though 2. Maleficent 2 3. 101 Dalmatian’s 4. Cruella 5. Lion King cartoon and Live action. 6. Frozen 1 and 2 7. Jungle Cruise 8. All of the Pirates and the Caribbean. 9. Moana 10. Mulan 11. Ariel 13. Beauty and The Beast (I prefer the live action but you should watch the original too.) 14. Bambi 15. All of the national tresures movies. (Also I know this is not Disney but you should watch The Hobbit, Lord of the rings and Titanic) YOU DONT NEED TO WATCH THESE IN ORDER IF YOUR GOING TO WATCH THEM JUST MAKE SURE YOU WATCH SLEEPING BEAUTY BEFORE MALEFICENT 1 AND 2 AND WATCH 101 DALMATIANS BEFORE CRUELLA AND WATCH THE HOBBIT BEFORE YOU WATCH LORD OF THE RINGS Also you should watch the cartoon Lion king before live action. These are just suggestions so you don’t have too :). (Btw I love your KZbin channel.)

grizzly bears are the most aggressive and you never want to run from any bear, they are predators and will hunt prey, so if you run you will look like prey, always try and make urself look bigger.
