Rosalie was pretty relatable as a character in Eclipse she didn’t want to be a vampire it was made for her in order for her to live and be Edward’s bride but after that didn’t pan out she found someone who loves and understands her in ways other people can’t. So to explain imprinting, Imprinting is a forever bond. It isn't always romantic, sometimes it's platonic soulmates. The Bond is determined by the relationship the imprinted person chooses. Also, the idea that Bella and Jacob are in love is talked about more in the books, just not shown in the movie

You're correct about the bond factor. But the books&movies do make it pretty clear that when all parties are adults, the feelings become romantic. Which is creepy as fuck. It's basically grooming. What Rosalie and Emmett, Bella/Edward, Alice/Jasper have, is a more accurate depiction of imprinting. And Edward is still almost a century older than her.

To clarify the imprinting topic: In Twilight, it is an involuntary mechanism by which werewolves find their soulmates. Does not necessarily mean romantic but more like a bond. The wolf will be bonded with the person for life. They will be a protector, companion, brother-like if he is older and can morph into a romantic relationship later. Once Sam imprinted on Emily, he was not able to reciprocate Lea’s feelings anymore. Since all wolves can hear each others’ thoughts, the pack is aware of Lea’s pain and Sam’s guilt for this. They respect it though, because they understand it is out of their control.
