I remember the juke box at my parents pizza place had "On the Dark Side" on it, and on the flip side of the record was "Wild Summer Nights". You got two songs for 1 quarter. After catching this movie on cable, we would then play both songs all the time.

Great choice. Absolutely nobody has reacted to this "under the radar" classic. The music is top notch, the story is good. I have the soundtrack to both of the movies. Thank you.... Eddie, Eddie, Eddie!!

GREAT reaction!!! Ur not gonna believe me but i had to watch this movie EVERY day, about FOUR times each day, for almost a year. LOL!!!! I worked a small video rental store in '92 with three gals. One of them was OBSESSED with the movie. Store policy was SOMETHING had to be playing on the large TV all the time. She commandeered the TV & VCR and would not allow anything else be played. So, u can imagine, by the time she left the business i was ready to fall on my sword for Eddie Wilson. My brainwashiing was complete

I haven't seen this in a minute. Always loved the sound of John Cafferty and the beaver brown band. Extremely good lip-sync, especially Michael Pare/Eddie.😎 "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" is a musical horror movie.

This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. I was 10 when this came out and can not tell you how many times I've watched it over the years. The soundtrack is also one of the greatest soundtracks in cinema history. I wore out so many cassettes of this soundtrack from constant play. I still can't put the singing voice to anyone other than Michael Pare because his speaking voice and the voice singing the songs, John Cafferty, sound so much alike. This movie and soundtrack deserve so much more recognition than it has gotten. The thing that really tells you its Eddie is as he turns to walk away from the tv in the window he starts flipping his keys like it showed him doing earlier in the movie.

Michael Pare lip synched to the record for the movie. The voice you hear is John Cafferty. I'm from MA/RI area and have seen them live more than a few times back in the day. One of the guys I worked with ran the lighting for them on the tour supporting the album. BTW the saxophonist in the movie is Michael Engines from the Beaver Brown Band.
@jasonlmeadows10 ай бұрын
@@genegiusti6239 yes I know about the lip syncing and who John Cafferty is I just said when Michael Pare talks it sounds very similar to John Caffertys singing voice.
@genegiusti623910 ай бұрын
@@jasonlmeadows sorry i misread your comment. You are are right about Pare's speaking voice and he was perfect for that role.

Ha, this is one way to see the movie. I've been told to see this. Oh the cigarettes (I hate cigarettes sooo much), are in so many movies on purpose like a product placement. It was Big Tobacco. This movie makes me wonder what if Jim Morrison was still secretly alive, or maybe Prince? I've stood there at Jim Morrison's grave at Pere LaChaise in Paris.

There is a sequel, it had been planned by the studio, but the first one didn't do well enough in the theaters so they shelved it. Another smaller studio managed to get the rights and made the second movie, it is lower budget, but the music is still great and it gives closure to the first one. The soundtracks of both movies are amazing, I listen to them all the time.
@treetopjones737 Жыл бұрын
This movie & the sequel are loosely inspired by rock band the Doors ( the myth that some fans had about Morrison not really being dead - HE WAS ).

The studio should of had this ending. Eiher at the half way point of the movie. Or at third part. The last thirty minutes should of been pretty much. What Eddie & the Cruisers II was. It should of just been part I & II combined but cut down.
@haroldjones802329 күн бұрын
There are times one needs to put themselves in the period a piece of art takes place in. The focus of the move Eddie Wilson takes place in the early 60’s. Before the Beatles come to America. The surfing sounds of The Beach Boys, Jan and Dean and others and then you had the east coast sound that was happening. It’s almost as though the writers were saying Eddie and the Cruisers were on the road to making music history and somehow inspired albums like Rubber Soul, Pet Sounds and Even Darkside of the moon. Just a thought The sax player in the movie is John cafferty and the Beaver Brown Bands sax player just FYI

I've loved this movie since it was basically on repeat on Cinemax the summer of 83 before I left for university. Beaver Brown actually played there, and they were amazing in person. You're reaction is great, and I think you'd enjoy Micheal Pare's next movie, Streets of Fire. Also a musical, but a different kind of movie. Both make a great double feature. As for musical horror, Rocky Horror has been mentioned, but also Little Shop of Horrors.

Well I'm a Jersey boy and most of my family is from Jersey. One of my Aunts was in High School with the person this is loosely based on. In the beginning at the SPRING fling you are intentionally shown SPRING for a reason. The black sax player, the rolled up sleeves, the guitar, the style.... Springsteen. I'm not a fan of his but when this came out I saw it ln the theater in Jersey with a Jersey audience. The energy in that theater was electric. Don't like Bruce but love this movie.

Sequel is 6 years later, Eddie in Canada, nobody knows, but band is still on radio, and that album is released....supposed to be 20 years after car in water. So new songs are 1989 in Canada. Word Man, actor was the most successful actor after, but Doc, not star but good in movies in 80s and 90s, like Risky Business/Running Scared/La Bamba/Midnight Run and the Fugitive, with sequel US Marshals. You're so cute 💕

Yeah, you gotta watch Eddie And The Cruisers 2: Eddie Lives now! It's not quite as good as the first but it's still entertaining and the soundtrack to both are AWESOME!!!! I found a copy of the soundtrack to the first on vinyl record at a thrift store for $10 and it was signed by John Cafferty (the real singer)! Then later I found the soundtrack to the sequel on vinyl at another thrift store for ten bucks! Sadly it wasn't signed, lol!
