Evil Dead 2013 Movie Description:
Mia (Jane Levy), a drug addict, is determined to kick the habit. To that end, she asks her brother, David (Shiloh Fernandez), his girlfriend, Natalie (Elizabeth Blackmore) and their friends Olivia (Jessica Lucas) and Eric (Lou Taylor Pucci) to accompany her to their family's remote forest cabin to help her through withdrawal. Eric finds a mysterious Book of the Dead at the cabin and reads aloud from it, awakening an ancient demon. All hell breaks loose when the malevolent entity possesses Mia.
Evil Dead is a 2013 American supernatural horror film directed by Fede Álvarez (in his feature directorial debut), who co-wrote the screenplay with Rodo Sayagues. Dubbed a "re-imagining" of The Evil Dead (1981), the film is the fourth installment in the Evil Dead film series. It stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas, and Elizabeth Blackmore. The story follows a group of five people under attack by a supernatural entity in a remote cabin in the woods.
Talks for a fourth Evil Dead film began in 2004, with original film actor Bruce Campbell about the possibility for a next film in the franchise. The project was officially announced in July 2011, with Ghost House Pictures producing it, Diablo Cody in the process of revising the script, and Fede Álvarez chosen as the director. Much of the cast joined from January to February 2012. Principal photography took place in March 2012 and wrapped in May in New Zealand outside of Auckland, lasting about a month.
Evil Dead had its premiere at South by Southwest on March 8, 2013, and was released in the United States on April 5, by Sony Pictures Releasing. The film received generally positive reviews from critics. The film grossed $97 million worldwide against a production budget of $17 million, making it the highest-grossing film in the series. A new installment, titled Evil Dead Rise, will be released by Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema on April 21, 2023.

Not sure if you know this, but nearly all of the special effects in this film were practical. They even shot this film in order so that the blood from scenes before would still be where it is supposed to be when it comes to splatter around the cabin. I would suggest checking out behind the scenes of this film.

This to me is still the best horror movie experience i've ever had at a cinema. The final act ruined me cause no horror movie has been able to match the adrenaline i had during this finale since. They all seem "meh" by comparison🤣 Mia is one of the most iconic final girls. Everything from the cinematography of that final scene, to the score the character design with the red dress drenched in blood with the blood rain...just beautiful. I was so upset that they didn't continue their original idea and have a sequel following Mia's story and eventually having her team up with Ash

I saw this in theaters right after Oz the Great & Powerful, had me a Sam Raimi Double Feature, and LOVED IT!!! This is up there with John Carpenter's The Thing and the 70's Invasion of the Body Snatchers as one of the best horror remakes ever made. I'm very upset Jane Levy didn't get a prosperous career after this. I wanted to see her do more films.

@@wonderlandian8465 the only reason evil dead rise beat the remake cause of the use of a new setting and involved kids which made the movie feel more tense cause evil dead franchise is ruthless so seeing kids possibly get brutally murdered is scary to think about. Just those 2 things really made me like rise a bit more over the remake while the remake is more brutal/gory with rise being the 2nd goriest of the franchise.

They all had the same bland reaction to everything, don't want to spoil it in the comments but they reacted the same way to literally everything that was going on. The acting overall in Rise just kinda ruined a lot of the moments (outside of the Mother who did an amazing job). Then the final act of Rise also just didn't hit for me at all and overall pacing wise/cinematography wise/set piece wise/acting wise/soundtrack wise Evil Dead 2013 did a much much better job imo

What you say at 17:45. When they made Resident Evil 7, they looked to a lot of western horror movies for influence when they tried to reinvent the series after RE6. The clearest and most obvious influence is "Texas Chainsaw Massacre". But you're 100% correct. RE7's love interest is named Mia. Evil Dead 2013's main possessed girl is Mia. ED2013 a scene with Mia creeping up basement stairs. RE7 Mia turns out can be saved from her "possession" and gets to be a main character (for a while during a flashback). ED2013 Mia is also saved from possession and she's the "final girl". When CapCom made RE7, the 2013 Evil Dead was 100% part of the blueprint. As was all of Evil Dead.

I love how they leaned into the hardcore horror aspect of this film. They did not hold back. Very well done. One of the few legitimate remakes. If you need even more Ash and Evil Dead the ASH VS EVIL DEAD show is legit. And if you want a smaller dose of Bruce Campbell goodness then look no further than one of his best films, BUBBA HO-TEP. Bruce plays an elderly Elvis Presley in a nursing home, taking on a mummy. If that doesn't sound like a good time, I don't know what does. Lol. You could be one of the only reactors to do that cult hit.

The continuity of this film is worth going into. But to summarize what I commented on one of the previous videos (or maybe the community tab post), it's basically in a timeline separate from the main one, but where the events of the first film still happened but Ash died at the end as originally intended. And since we've seen Ash travel through time and space already, we know that a crossover (if there ever were one), would likely have delved into the multiverse.

This movie was pretty divisive amongst fans who expected the camp and over the top acting from the reboot but I thought it was a solid horror film. They had some great and terrifying designs with some cool gory kills and a few bits of homage to the original films. I still pop it on from time to time but I might need to track down the unrated version cause I don't think I saw it. Ash vs Evil Dead is better for fans of the classic movies. It only got 3 seasons before it was canceled but it was a really fun ride while it lasted. I wouldn't expect a reaction video for an entire series but if you really loved these movies then you should give the show a chance.

Just so you know, there is 3 books confirmed and all evil deads will tie together, including the new one. And no they wouldnt have said its woke, Also in comparison, Mia is more like Cheryl and David is like Ash, they just flipped the table at the end.

God damn I love how fucking brutal this film is. A lot of people forget that Evil Dead 1 was a straight horror film, the comedy aspect wasn't introduced until Evil Dead 2 came out. As far as pure horror goes, this film made me as uncomfortable as the original did the first time I saw that, it's also the only filmed I've ever watched with my best mate that he made me stop 3/4 the way through so he could get some air, so 10/10 rating from me.

I really liked the girl in this movie she had a look about her thats kinda iconic she is like short and stocky with that bright red dress I can see her being a fun lead if they ever bring her back, but she gotta wear the red dress like ash wears the blue shirt and brown pants. I think this one is wayy better than the new rise one, it had more heart where as the new one just kinda went balls deep on the violence but I care about none of the characters and the acting was kinda bad too.

Originally if this film was successful, there were talks of making sequels to Mia and Ash. Ash's films would be Army of Darkness 2 and 3 while Mia would return for Evil Dead 2. But Evil Dead 3 would be set to have them crossover. But instead, we got Ash vs Evil Dead the series and Evil Dead Rise.

The film was more than successful , it made 10 times it's budget but overall the plans they had just eventually changed and Raimi and co decided to go with Ash vs Evil Dead instead. I personally think they missed a huge opportunity to create yet another iconic horror movie lead in Mia

In the UK, an alternate uncut version was screened on a channel 4 a non cable channel. C4 requested the theatrical cut but the supplier sent them the directors cut by mistake, I had already seen the film prior at the cinema and noticed the added the scenes

Here in the UK. an extended Cut of Evil Dead aired in January 2015 on Film4, which has additional plot scenes, a ton more violence, as well. Among other things, the MPAA cuts have been reversed and the infamous chainsaw scene from the trailer is back in the movie, too. It was available via Blu Ray from Germay and Japan afterwards. I believe the scenesare on youtube somwhere as well
