Yep, she's supposed to be Voldermort's pet snake. Which makes her story extra tragic. I guess when you used to be human and now you're stuck as a snake, you really want to hang around (probably) the only person you've ever met that can actually still talk to you, even if he is a genocidal maniac.

@@tankosaurus It is also important to note that in the Harry Potter series Nagini is a Horcrux with a part of Voldemort's soul inside her and if you remember in the 5th book when Dumbledore learned of Harry and Voldemort being mentally linked due to Harry being the Horcux Voldemort never intended to make, Harry had to train his mind to fight Voldemort's control and we even briefly see Voldemort mentally take over Harry in the Ministry of Magic during the Dumbledore versus Voldemort battle, however this film shows that while Nagini is part of the magical world she knows very limited magic, and it is doubtful once Voldemort's soul resided in her and he had the same mental connection to her that he had with Harry that she had the formal mental defence training to combat it. We also know that for the creation of all his Horcuxes he lied and deceived people in order to gain the objects he needed. My personal theory is that since Voldemort is a parseltongue once he ran into Nagini, spoke to her and learned her condition he lied and tricked her into believing he knew a spell that could cure her and he made her into his Horcrux and than fully mentally took control over her. We also saw what reading the Diary Horcux caused Ginny to do, and what wearing the Necklace Horcrux caused Ron and Harry to act, and we saw what Voldemort was able to do to Harry. So you can only imagine what Voldemort was able to do and force Nagini to do once she became a Horcrux and had a part of Voldemort's soul inside her.

Imo the main plot for this film doesn't really "matter." In the HP films, unless your a descendant of Salazar Slytherin, which makes you able to talk to snakes, it doesn't really matter what your origin is. Actually, it's hinted quite often that the origin of a person doesn't equate to their power (the whole muggle-born, half-blood, pure-blood situation). So, the idea of "Credence found out he's a Dumbledore" only leads to "ok...then what?" for me. Also, it kinda bothers me that for some reason Credence can use magic as soon as he touches the wand, and even without incantation. It took people years to go to school to learn to control their magic, and you only learn how to cast spells nonverbally in year 6 (according to the HP books). Will say it seems like the series is going down a path surrounding the politics and events between Dumbledore and Grindelwald, and tbh I would much prefer it stay closer to Newt and his adventure with numerous magical beasts (like the first movie)

But in this film, you can see that Credence intended the wand to act that way, but yeah this is just what I feel. Nagini, the snake lady, is a maledictus It's like an animagus, but animagus can learn how to change into chosen animal and do it when they want, while maledictus is cursed and after some time they will turn into the animal forever, that's why Nagini later is only in her snake self and Voldemort makes her into horcrux Also this movie made some mistakes and I don't even know why since J.K. Rowling was directly the woman behind a story Dumbledore here is teaching Defense Against Dark Arts while in reality he teached transmutation before he was headmaster And McGonagall is here as a young teacher while she shouldn't even be alive at that point, because Voldemort was just born couple months before this movie takes place and McGonagall is couple years younger than him (Voldemort completed education in Hogwarts in 1945, McGonagall around 1952-3, it's not clear)

The plot in the movie is such a mess lol. Theres so many storylines going on all at once and not all of them served the plot, so usually in storytelling, youre supposed to leave out things that dont move the plot forward but this movie felt like they had ten people writing it with different ideas and trying to mush them all together. The next one's story is more coherent lol. But glad you still enjoyed it either way. I love the world this film is set in, i just hate the story telling techniques they used (or abandoned lol) for this film

Right before Newt suggests on how to erase the memories of muggles, he looks up and sees him escaping, camera specifically shown a close-by of it. His survival never was an unexpected event.

@@ItApproaches I disagree, _Crimes of Grindlewald_ was my least favorite of the _Fantastic Beasts_ film series and I didn't enjoyed this film as much compared to the first film and _Secrets of Dumbledore._ Newt didn't do much, Queenie betrayed her own sister and her boyfriend, Jacob just to join Grindlewald, Grindlewald wins and Credence is alive despite his destruction in the previous film?!?!? _Crimes of Grindlewald_ almost resulted in dropping out and losing faith of the _Fantastic Beasts_ series and the Wizarding World Franchise, and while _Secrets of Dumbledore_ wasn't a perfect film it was a massive improvement than *THAT* hot mess.

@@EChacon Nope. Queenie wanted a world she could openly marry a muggle. Love is similar to madness. People do all kinds of crap in the name of love. Also it's not betrayal if you CHOOSE something others don't lol, that's called free will. Grindlewald winning was great. So sick of the lazy writing of directors with no balls, to scared to pull the trigger, always gotta have the good guy win to please the masses as to maximize profits as most humans are utterly brain dead. As for Credence, it's magic, he already lived longer then anyone of his kind before. Without him there's no reason foe Grindlewald and Dumbledore to be in the movies lol.
