With Pycelle pretending to be older then he is, it reminds me of that deleted scene that 100% should have been kept - with Tywin fishing and Pycelle doddering around until Tywin tells him to drop the act, and Pycelle stands up straight and talks boldly and clearly for a few moments before reverting to his normal self. It was such a good scene.
@MugShotzReactsАй бұрын
We’ll have to do a deleted scene reaction video!
@dunringill1747Ай бұрын
@@MugShotzReacts Yes, please on deleted scene reactions. I agree that the Tywin fishing scene where he calls out Pycelle should have remained in that episode. It adds to just how sharp and on top of things Tywin really was on everything -- with the exception of his love and understanding for his own children. That was his biggest weakness and his poetically real demise.
@JaymzShikariАй бұрын
I suspect that scene was cut because it was a little overdone, GoT has never really done obvious like that and it sticks out a bit. Pycelle instead remains as an INT skill check to the fanbase What is sad about it being cut is that Tywin was gutting a fish right before the Tullys got screwed over, was a cool foreshadowing that's happened a couple of times
@dunringill1747Ай бұрын
@@JaymzShikari Part of me feels like there might be some hidden time and / or cost restraints that caused the deletion of that scene. I feel the importance of the Tully foreshadowing alone is reason enough to keep it in, but not the only reason. I don't see anything over-the-top blatant or even a redundancy is giving another example of Lord Tywin's perceptive strengths. I think it adds to the character dynamic between Tywin & Pycelle. Plus it adds story depth as well. Tywin did once serve as Hand of the King before. He therefore was given ample time to observe Pycelle over those years. He would have the insight. Pycelle would recognize the full measure of this insight. Especially once it was called out to him in private. It would be unwise to insult the intelligence of Tywin, especially when you are asking him to [A] restore your position plus (without blunt dialogue) [B] maintain your secret of faking the old & feeble act. Both favors buys Tywin more of Pycelle's loyal servitude.
@jeffbachman2949Ай бұрын
@@dunringill1747 it makes sense to cut it. We already knew Tywin was fairly clever and reminding the audience Pycell is faking it again is just repetitive

The execution scene reminded me in contrast of what Ned said in the very first episode: "the man who passes the sentence should swing the sword." That doesn't necessarily mean Dany was in the wrong here, but they are definitely highlighting the different leadership philosophies of Ice -the Starks, and Fire - the Targaryens. And it won't be the last time :).

So, this is for Lindsay: Concerning Lancel and Cersie's interaction, keep in mind, she still needs to put up an act. And now add to that, the fact that Lancel is part of the group of the high sparrow. Now, there were people in the background, when Lancel said sorry, she might have been keeping up a view just incase anyone heard him. Also, knowing that he had become religious, she might have considered, "if i admit this to him, then i might get drawn into a religious issue with the high sparrow". So, her "appearance of confusion" should be considered with all other factors at hand

The Law is the Law. which is different from The Law is the law applied with compassion and understanding. The law has room for justice which in this case might have been weighing the mentality of years of slavery, and the desire to please resulting in this killing of the Harpy's son and subsequent execution causing further erosion of the fragile peace. Relying just on "the law is the law" is the very same rigid nature that Sir Barristan was warning against. there is "the law" and then there is the law applied with justice.

Imo what Daenerys did was worse than what Jeffrey did with ned...... Bare with me here..... Both made a "unexcusable offense" The consequence the same.. off with his head. The difference... We love Dany... Hate Jeffrey... We love ned.... The other guy is a nobody... From our perspective. The point being the man in this scene ment something to SOMEONE but the writing in this is just so damn good. It steers you where it wants you to be be. The crowd tho....Ned's crowd cheered for him to lose his head. The crowd in this episode pleaded for mercy. It leaves you so conflicted. Betraying your feelings of the past from seemingly so long ago. Or maybe it's just as bad no matter how you cut it... See what I did there 😆

I'm glad you seem to be having a nuanced discussion about Danni's actions and decisions. I have seen so many reactors who really start to dislike her at this point. And that always makes me angry. They criticize her for being arrogant to think that she could end slavery in a culture where slavery is ingrained for such a long time. But, there has never been a time in the history of mankind that slavery has not been abolished without bloodshed and political strife. At the end of the day, she is doing the right thing. There will always be consequences.

Dany was in a no-win situation there... with the action she took, she lost the support of the majority of the people, who had been slaves that were freed by her conquest. If she pardoned him, it would send the message that those in her inner circle were above the law. I think Hizdar actually had the best idea... that the execution should have been held in private rather than being the public spectacle that it became. News would have eventually trickled out, and there would be some dissent because of it, but not the mass uprising that occurred.

@@havok6280 Of course. A lawyer could find mitigating circumstances, like Danerys already said, she wanted an execution, but with a fair trial before. So he understood it would be a death sentence anyway. She could argue that he took away the chance of executing him herself (Who speaks the sentence should also swing the sword), but he spared her from showing her wrath and brutality to the people, so she can still look like a good queen. I would just sentence him to serve in her army, cause he showed he likes killing.
