“Your mercy killed the king.” He means that because Ned warned Cersei of what he knew, and gave her a chance to leave with her kids before Robert returned from the hunt, Cersei likely sent word to her cousin (Robert’s page) to make sure he didn’t return alive. The page kept Robert drunk, so the boar was able to get the better of him.

The Umbers (the Greatjon Umber is the chap who had his fingers bitten off) are simple but loyal folk. They and the other hill clans that live north of Winterfell are more akin to the clans in the mountains of the moon in the Vale than they are to the Andals. They respect strength not niceties. Robb won his respect by standing up to him and although it also took Grey Wind ripping off a few fingers, he respects Robb all the more. The lore in the books hints that the Starks originally gained power with direwolves at their side. Tyrion knows that you have to be assertive when dealing with such people too, which is why he welcomes the Stone Crows and treats them with respect but stands up for himself and Bronn assertively while still trying to avoid open conflict. He too wins respect of a kind from the clans of the mountains of the moon in the Vale of Arryn.

We of course would love more but those who understand life know that it is a bit of work to get this up on a regular basis when you’re doing it all yourself and have multiple people’s schedules to work around…now we have the holidays. So just keep at it a schedule will develop on its own eventually. P.S. After a particular it may help them a bit by thinking of what they have seen thus far as the prologue of the series. Meaning it has the purpose of setting up the stories and setting up all the chess pieces to prepare to tell the epic story that will unfold over the next 61 episodes. And yes I know there are 65 episodes left I said 61 on purpose lol because 2 episode are still left of Season 1 and 2 episode are just something I would like to erase from my memory and wish I could erase from the show all together lol. It may help them think of it as a prologue because I personally wasn’t very interested in continuing to watch the rest of the series after Season 1. But had I been told that it was only just the prologue setting everything up and placing all the little game board pieces I would have been more enthusiastic going forward with the show.

As I understand it Forel's religion would not allow him to pick up; let alone use a dead man's sword to defend himself. I think this would cover using another man's swrod in the midst of death match as well. Varys is right about Ned Stark; his sense of honour and mercy condemned Robert to death more surely than anything Cersei might have been planning. He left her no choice, but to kill Robert, and that same sense of honour is what necessitated, in Cersei's eyes, Barristan's departure and his skill meant it was necessary to force him out, rather than risk a bloodbath by removing him more violently. I forget which one said it, but you were right in thinking this episode should have been called Not Today. kerk

i always find it interesting that people don't seem to have any issue when it comes to the dothraki plundering villages and murdering every guy they come across, but as soon it comes to the women - who mean as little to the dothraki as all the men they kill and buildings they burn - it is a no go and needs to be stopped... how about we judge the dothraki for the horrible people they are as a whole instead of one aspect of their barbarism? the dothraki and khal drogo are nowhere close to being good "guys".. it's not like they fight or kill other fighters or soldiers, it's normal everyday people they slaughter

Yes, it is noticeable how reactors all seem to glory in violent deaths for boys and men, but are horrified at violence directed at women. It's quite the double standard. When Arya killed the fat boy, while she certainly had the right to defend herself, it should be shocking but most reactors seem to see it as a thoroughly good thing instead of being a necessary but horrific thing.
@crappiefisher133111 ай бұрын
@@alexmckee4683 i agree.. i also don't understand how you can celebrate that scene... even the look on arya's face makes it obvious that this is not supposed to be some glorious thing that just happened, but something horrible.. arya for sure wasnt like "yeah nice i just killed someone, amazing" i mean some of those things are ofc exciting to watch (thats what movies and shows are for), most of us probably thought "damn nice speech kahl drogo" after the attempt on dany's life, but when you wanna analyze the things he says it gets weird if 99% of his kill, burn and plunder speech does get you hyped but this 1% of what he says is a no go... everything he says is horrible, even if it is hype and cool af to watch ^^
@mclizzard292811 ай бұрын
Because to most people, a violent death is endlessly preferable to a prolonged life of seggsual slavery and gr@pe. While men are often victims of similar treatment, we only see it a few times in the course of 8 seasons. And, when we do, the audience is usually just as horrified as they are when the victims are women.
@michaelhenry323411 ай бұрын
@@crappiefisher1331 SHOW SPOILERS: Tbf, the show does somewhat glorify what Arya becomes. I think I got the sense more in the books that Arya's circumstances and what she was becoming was a tragic, awful, kind of scary thing. I watched the show first, though, and those same moments felt more "Wow, she's badass!" Which isn't necessarily bad, and there's definitely badass Arya moments in the books too (Weasel soup didn't even get adapted and that's one of my favorite moments), but the vibes are definitely different. I feel like in the books I'm rooting for Arya to find her way home and reclaim her Stark identity, whereas in the show I'm rooting for her to get even more scary so she can kill all her enemies.
