When movies claim a film is "inspired" by true events--they take enormous creative license. When movies claim a film is "based" on true events, there is considerable effort to retain most of what actually happened with some creative license. Typically, those films use individuals who were a part of those events as consultants to ensure accuracy. In this case, Lorraine Warren, who consulted on the first two Conjuring films before she died. The one event she said she would not participate in, was the Amityville haunting because it was too traumatizing. There have been skeptics of the warrens, but hey, aren't there always?

This film is by far one of the scariest movies ever made and it really well made!!! I never found anything scary other than Dead Silence but the reason Conjuring is no 1 for me is that it doesn't playoff jump scares in stereotype way. Another thing is that conjuring franchise actually give us time to have attachment for the character while also maintaining the suspense rather than just forcing the struggle immediately.

Hmmm . Horror movies. I’d suggest the classic “ The exorcist”. Because it’s the quintessential cult classic and the original Japanese. “Ringu” because it’s absolutely horrific and tense to watch. The American remake The Ring was well done but it doesn’t have that same atmospheric tension that the original has in spades.

The freaky thing is one of the daughters has released books about her experiences and she has openly said the movie was toned down. Usually, it's the other way around. Apparently, some things were changed for better cinematic value, naturally but many experiences were deemed too terrifying to include. Which blows my mind.
@ScientificallyStupid

I listened to a podcast (I believe it was Spooky Southcoast)where Andrea was interviewed promoting her books and she said (weirdly) that the children loved that house- It was a great place to grow up bc it was a big old farmhouse with lots of places to explore and play, etc. She said that a lot of what went on with their mom was kept from them as kids and they didn't find out the extent that mom was haunted until later because they didn't want the children to be afraid. She mentioned that there were isolated incidents that were frightening but that overall even though the occurrences were extensive, the kids became used to it the same way you get used to that awful "air in the hot water pipes" groan in the walls. Most of the really intense stuff was focused on mom and mom shielded the children because they had to live in the house- they couldn't exactly afford to just pick up and leave. I bought all of Andrea's books about the haunting on the strength of that interview yet I've never read them because I don't believe in this stuff at all and I don't want my impression of her as a rational and likeable person to be demolished. I also don't want to read something presented as nonfiction and be thinking, "this is 100% bs" and feel like I'm being hoodwinked.

Hereditary is SO GOOD! Midsommar too! Both are psychological horror movies with minimum of jump scares and such an amazing storyline! I was traumatised afrer Hereditary for weeks!

I suppose the assertion "Based extremely loosely on a true story" wouldn't sell as many tickets. The shocking true story of Annabelle was that a pair of roommates claimed that their Raggedy Ann doll-not that creepy-ass doll in the movies, but a perfectly normal, mass-produced Raggedy Ann doll-kept moving around their home, so the Warrens took it. Story ends there. My guesses: 1. Pets love to move stuffed toys around. 2. One roomie was pranking the other. 3. It never happened in the first place. All infinitely more likely than demons using a doll to attack people. Oh, and you should absolutely watch Poltergeist. It's sort of the blueprint for this kind of film, except it doesn't try to pretend to be real. It's just a great movie.

Hey guys. Since at least one of you didn’t know about ghosts and cold spots, which tells me ya haven’t seen it yet, you should consider reacting to the show ‘Supernatural’. It’s frigging AWESOME!!!!

I recommend THE CONJURING 2 (based on the Enfield Poltergeist hauntings) and POLTERGEIST from 1982 which is co-written by Steven Spielberg and in a similar vein. POLTERGEIST especially has some great practical effects. Like the first CONJURING, both movies do a great job of balancing out the dark elements with light and wholesome scenes, not unlike the Harry Potter movies you're currently watching.

Fun Fact: If you look at your video reaction of this movie and stop around 12:38 in the first row with the old woman in black that's the real life Lorraine Warren that made a cameo in the flim.

3:36 same sometimes when I want to live in a place that has a little bit of big land cause like that you can have a big space on your house like that house but that isn’t haunted. Ever since I saw clips of that movie and since it was based on a true story makes me not want to move into a lace like that

You should definitely read their books. They're pretty easy and quick to read. I read three of them and so far The Haunted was the best because you actually follow what happens to the family.

The scariest part about Annabelle is that unlike in the movie where it is portrayed as a doll that is so creepy you don't understand how anyone would want to own it.... the real Annabelle is a big fluffy Raggedy Ann doll that every kid in America had once upon a time.

One of the children of this family wrote a series of books called House of Light House of darkness and she says that it was actually worse than what they portrayed in the movie! because the director was trying to get a PG-13 rating but even with watering it down he still could not get it and it became an R rating.

This is one of the movies you would just love to see the reaction for , love the dynamic you guys have. Was thinking it would be great for you to make a few polls for underrated movies and review them see if they actually deseve more credit. Just an idea that popped in my head and didn't see anyone do yet i personally think it's worth it but am not sure what's the viewers demographic would be for it , doesn't hurt to test the waters anyways. Hope you consider it , there is one I would love to know your honest opinion about it's an M.night Shyamalan called Lady in the water ( a bed time story ) So viewers here were looking for CGI but this movie didn't get the Cgi budget it deserved so this made into much more, i feel like having a small budget for this story forced this movie to be a hidden gem with beautiful acting and story threadin the main leads are Bryce Dallas Howard and Paul Giamati so I mean what else could a person ask for they are both acting legends in my humble opinion. I rated it 8/10 because I'm a sucker for good story threading and unique heartfelt music which this movie definitely nailed. Have a lovely day guys stay safe, kind and free, I'll try to support the channel as much as i can you deserve it 🤍
