It’s always important to think about the times. Tina blew the tv screen out when she came on. The tv was a vanilla landscape at the time. Fantastic artists but No diversity other than jazz performances and a select few, all very highbrow. She was impossible,it was fantastic! Rock blues woman who was so physical it was unbelievable. I see a lot of young that are unaware of how much as changed. ☮️

The first time I ever saw her was when I was probably around 10 years old or so back in the 1970s on a latenight TV program called the Midnight Special. When I heard her begin to sing, I looked up at the television set. All I saw were legs. An incredible pair of legs. I have never forgotten the experience. I have never gotten over the experience. I don't want to get over the experience.

She’s singing about the Mississippi River & the ‘rolling’ is talking about the old paddle boats that used to go up & down the river, back in a time when rivers were the highways of the country.

It's about a steam-riverboat called PROUD MARY and how the riverboat supplies food and Trade Goods that supports the river communities along the Mississippi.

ICON! LEGEND! and every other word that goes along with it. Tina Turner was a force of nature. I was lucky enough to see her live in Boston for her farewell tour. That woman didn't lost a thing with age. She commanded that stage, and had the audience in the palm of her hand.

💯% classic & iconic TnT song!💥 Loved this song request & song reaction! Great performance video!

Classic! "Proud Mary" was a huge hit for CCR in 1969. The success of Ike & Tina's version gave Tina enough star power to get away from Ike. "What's Love Got To Do With It", from the eighties, was her "comeback" hit, so to speak. Ike arguably released the first rock and roll single, "Rocket 88", in 1951. So he's due that prop, but he's problematic otherwise. More interesting to me, and something I did not notice the other times I've watched this clip, that's Claudia Lennear with the Ikettes, standing closest to Tina during the slow parts. She is often credited as the inspiration for The Rollng Stones "Brown Sugar" and David Bowie's "Lady Grinning Soul". She also sang back up for Joe Cocker, including on his legendary live 1970 album, Mad Dogs and Englishmen, recorded over two nights at the Fillmore East. "The Letter" is a great track from that album.

couple things. Prince once said this is the 1st song he learned to play on the guitar (BTW, we haven't seen a Prince reaction for a long time. Maybe dedicate your 4/21/23 show to a Prince by reacting to nothing but Prince videos, that would be cool) Also before there was a Beyonce, there was Tina Turner, of no one can see the similaraties , i got nothing for you.

Yeah there honestly hasn't been anything to do besides unreleased stuff. I'm kinda just waiting for the next album.

@@JustJammin Maybe a live clip or show- Although I know you said you’ve watched a lot of those already on your own. I’d guess you’ve already watched the entire August 3rd ‘83 First Avenue show where he premiered some songs that were on the Purple Rain album? I think you said you’ve seen the Montreaux shows. The North Sea Jazz Festival shows are great too, just in case you haven’t seen those. There are some great clips&shows from 2013, ‘ 14, - with both NPG and 3rd Eye Girl. Of course it’s all great ! ( IMO) 🙂

No 1, Tina Turner has no peer ! You want to check her live performance " Nutbush City Limits " Cher show 1975 ! Nutbush is tiny Tennessee town she is from. This clip shows her at top of her game, nobody does it better than her ! Lol, you can write that down !

Check out some CCR Credence Clear Water Revival wrote it and Tina and Ike covered it

I bet you enjoy reacting to the Creedence version now. Creedence wrote it and had a massive hit with it in 1969 and then far from being a Revival for Tina Turner, this was one of their early Smash Hits, Ike and Tina Turner doing is cover two years later in 1971. They also had tremendous chart success with it and in the end, both the Creedence and the Ike and Tina Turner version won Grammy Awards.

You are so caught up in whether you recognize it or not and trying to place all that and I get it man but you're missing what is cool about it. She is commanding from the get-go. And you're missing all of it. Every little Nuance every little thing she does. And it's just going over your head because you're so focused on do I remember the sarenot or where do I know it. And I totally get that I would do the same thing with somebody showed me music from that long before my time. I'm just trying to tell you man go back and look at this and look at every little bit of it. Cuz this was something amazing.
