Everyone talks about how Anxiety is so well portrayed, but I want to highlight how the other emotions were portrayed. 1. Sadness was immediately interested in Embarrassment when he first showed up; later that day, Sadness helped Embarrassment to operate the console when he struggled to cover it all (I think some people call the mixture of them both "shame"). These were additional proofs that Embarrassment and Sadness have chemistry together as emotions, besides the moments in which Embarrassment helped Sadness stay hidden or stopping Anxiety. 2. You could say Embarrassment is built as a big and strong emotion, to the point of being able to grab and restrain 5 emotions at once. in real life, embarrassment is an emotion that would chemically prevent you from doing anything out of an emotion if you're in public (say, acting too goofy, or crying, or wimping out of something you're afraid of) in order to not cripple your social interactions. Embarrassment will often prevent you from doing wrong, but can also prevent you from doing right (you could probably lie out of embarrassment in order for people to not think something about you). 3. We often connect envy with jealousy, but here Envy is portrayed as a desire of fitting in or imitating attributes; Anxiety couldn't make Riley get off from bed, but Envy could because she was pushing her with the desire of knowing coach's opinion. When Anxiety wasn't operating Riley, Envy was, which means that you can pretty much _afford_ suppressing your emotions if you're driven by Anxiety or Envy, because they can make you _act_ , rather than _feel_ . Besides, Envy was constantly trying to imitate Anxiety, or contribute in ways that were close to Anxiety's course of action. 4. I definitely loved Ennui, and I understand why they didn't elaborate on her presentation as "boredom", because I mostly see her as "indifference", that one attitude you need to show in order to keep your cool or save physical and emotional energy (because it takes much more energy feeling angry or sad at someone's insult than just "whatever-ing" it off).

It was an anxiety attack. Panic attacks happen suddenly, often for seemingly no reason, and often without warning or significant build-up. Anxiety attacks happen after anxiety gradually builds and builds and builds and can no longer be suppressed or controlled. (This is from what I remember reading about the two, but it's been a few years since I've read up on it, so I may be missing something.) I myself have Generalized Anxiety Disorder and have had a few anxiety attacks throughout my life, they're not fun and can be really scary when they happen. They're the type of thing you have to just ride/wait out. I actually had an anxiety attack a couple days ago -- I got news of something that I couldn't fix until the next day and because I couldn't do anything about it right then, my mind started slowly spiraling. I tried shoving those thoughts aside and *not* thinking about them, but in not dealing with these thoughts and feelings, they kept building until I couldn't stop myself from freaking out. Fortunately for me, I texted my boyfriend and a counselor on an emergency line, the attack didn't last too long, and I was able to calm down fairly quickly.

most likely anxiety attack imo. Anxiety attacks have specific stressors and usually last longer than panic attacks, which in contrast are unexpected, sudden, shorter lived, but more severe. But they're not mutually exclusive.

I love that embarrassment is the one that helps sadness bc embarrassment can also be seen as shame and doing stuff that riley does can make people feel ashamed. I love that nostalgia keeps trying to come in since it feels like people get nostalgic so young these days. And i love how anxiety, despite having the idea, is not the one to take the action to actually sneak out and look at the notebook, as that in of itself is anxiety-inducing. I love how they make anxiety comfortable by giving her an outlet that allows her to be more calm without losing the actual benefits of having a healthy form of anxiety. Superb movie, i wish i watched it in theatres.
