If your planning on gaming content/streams, they are good basic action RPGs that will last for a while. Plus the game collections were just released on steam. I like the story of the games aslong as you just turn your brain odd and accept the nonsense the game writing provides.

The story is pretty decent all things considered (gets pretty complex as it goes) and the dialogue is maximum cheese, like the other person said just turn your brain off and it's a great ride. The gameplay is great in the first game and amazing in 2, with the rest being good to great for the most part. Haven't played 3 yet. Wholeheartedly recommend.

So welcome to Kingdom Hearts. It's a hell of a ride, but it's a pretty fun one in my opinion. Lots of lore dumps and little side games that are sometimes essential to the story later on. Tetsuya Nomura is infamous for having a certain style, both in character design and storytelling, that absolutely shines through in KH. Expect lots of zippers and belts, and lectures on darkness, and the power of friendship.

So…KH was my life thru my mid teens and 20s. I have some 60 old (mostly) KH AMVs on my channel. My name, Riku, is taken from the silver haired kid. Riku, the character, was overtaken by darkness at the beginning of KH1. Spent the next two games (Re: Chain of Memories and KH2) making up for what he did. The story of KH is phenomenal. You will be jumping down a rabbit hole you won’t wanna leave.

these are great games! this is the 2nd games opening btw, theres WAAAAY more htan just 3 or 4 x3, theres the original kingdom hearts, chain of memories(the one where scythe boys from) theres birth by sleep which i recommend reacting to , theres re:coded, theres 358/2 days, theres dream drop distance, union cross, x (pronoucned ki), 2.8, 3, dark road, and of course the announced 4 and other mobile game coming soon. each world sora visits has a disney companion in addition to donald and goofy who always stay with sora, mickeys sort of around sometimes doing his own thing, but the story is so good while convoluted at times its just so emotional and a great ride, and the music is just phenomenal as well.

so just a few things. Sora, Riku (the guy at the beginning with silver hair), and kairi (our "zelda" as you put it), are all best friends who live together on this place called destiny islands, and they dream of sailing into the sea and finding new worlds. the girl with blonde hair is actually a sort of doppelganger of kairi's named Namine, and the guy with blonde hair at the end is the same for sora named roxas, it goes deeper but itd be a really long explanation. the reason that riku wound up looking kinda evil at times is because he was being manipulated by the guy he transformed into named ansem, who was trying to claim the power of "kingdom hearts" for himself through riku and using kairi and sora to do it. the story goes bonkers throughout the games and trying to explain it all here would be folly, but yeah i hope this helped at least a little.

The gameplay is p much solid and def can be challenging in amazing ways. The story is memed for being winding and out there in some cases but it is so good. I have seen grown adults cry when hearing someone asking who will eat desserts with them. It's just a good experience

I hope you enjoy the games, this is my favorite franchise. BTW people usually says that the game's story is so complicated and has no sense, but I was 9 when I played it, and I didn't know any english back then, and I understood everything despite only playing the main games. I never played chain of memories, 358/2 days, 3D, nor the mobile games, only KH 1, 2 and 3, and Birth by sleep just because I had the PSP emulator. Also, you asked I deliver, no spoilers tho... Yes, you meet other Disney characters and they can help you as well, Donald and Goofy are the first ones and you start travelling through different Disney worlds and meet new allies, however you have to leave one of them behind, you can only go with 2 members on your party. And why Donald and Goofy, because in their world Mickey is the King, Donald is something like a counselor and Goofy the Captain of the Royal Guards. However Mickey disappears, so they have to search for him thus beginning their story... see, even as a kid I understood that :V

Donald, loaded with potions, goofy loaded with ethers , and mp raising gear, and party members equipped with decent gear. Is one way to go. Goofy, on a similar build, damage shields and goofy tornado , rage, and and evolution is another but you’re right. Goofy becomes an mp slave as soon as he gets the skill. 😅

KH1 Sora (spiky brown hair guy) and Kairi (redhead girl) are 14 years old, and Riku (silver haired guy) is about 15, if I remember correctly. KH2 they’re all roughly a year older, but I’m not sure about their ages in KH3. But yeah, the intro for KH2 is basically a recap of KH1 and KH Chain Of Memories, so you were slightly spoiled about those two games, if you haven’t played them, by this point.

The story of Kingdom Hearts is, no joke, thesis levels of complex, with twists and turns and reveals all over. But here's an important thing to note for anyone who feels iffy about the Disney stuff. When you get down to it, everything "Disney" is set dressing. Every Disney character and location could be replaced with original characters and places and the story would still chug along with barely a hiccup. But the Disney stuff juxtaposes the darker themes in a unique way, like blending something sweet with something sour to create a unique taste. To put it as painfully simply as I can, for just the first game released for the franchise mind you. Sora is living his life on the Destiny Islands with his friends Riku (the silver haired boy) and Kari. Meanwhile Donald and Goofy are told by King Mickey via a letter to search for someone who has a "key" that could save the disconnected worlds from blinking out of existence. One night a storm ravages the Destiny Islands and Sora is attacked by monsters of darkness known as The Heartless. But a strange weapon known as The Keyblade appears in Sora's hands to help him fight them off. But the Destiny Islands are destroyed and Sora, Riku, and Kari are scattered across the disconnected worlds. Sora eventually meets Donald and Goofy and travels with them to look for his friends, fighting Heartless along the way. The Heartless are the manifestations of darkness in peoples hearts. They seek other hearts, stealing them away, turning more beings into heartless in the process. What's more at the center of every world is a great heart that the Heartless seek via a 'Keyhole'. And when they find it that world is consumed in darkness. To protect a world from being destroyed by the Heartless Sora has to find and lock the keyholes of the worlds he visits. There's a lot more to the story obviously, but that just the setup for the first game that was published, further games are prequels and sequels and sidequels and all sorts of stuff. In total there's ten (eleven maybe) games in the chronology of the Kingdom Hearts (first) story. The original Kingdom Hearts actually comes in at number four in the timeline. And Kingdom Hearts 2 you reacted to here is number seven in the timeline. If you want to know more about the games I recommend watching SuperButterBuns "For Beginners" series on most of the games. They are crazy and complicated and will sound nuttier than a squirrels breakfast in plain text. If you absolutely cannot play the games for whatever reason, watch playthroughs or at least the compilation of cut-scenes, because the story is good and emotional and us fans who grew up with it will swear to high heaven it is worth experiencing "properly". This is a deep rabbit hole and for all the silly imagery, it's not one that can be understood by casual outside observation. There are complex character developments that have had fans LITTERALLY crying by the end of Kingdom Hearts 3. These are characters fans are passionate over, and making a casual attempt and giving up is going to have fans beating down your door screaming to 'keep going' and 'it gets really good soon after where you stopped'. I'm not saying you need go any further. I'm just warning you to just be aware what you're getting into. You take the plunge and it is a surprisingly deep and complex story, but you really have to be willing to make an effort and grasp the story beyond 'original characters go to Disney worlds'. (Whew, sorry for the long comment, but you see how much this game can work people up.)

The PC version for all the games released on steam recently it's currently like 70 bucks for all of them (cutscenes for the ds ones included) There were 3 main games and multiple side games that are still story relevant. This is the entire package with everything you need and a slight update to the ps2 graphics. While the first is a bit clunky it's still pretty fun especially if you know Disney or some Final Fantasy.

Right, lets see if I can explain really quick. Three friends, Sora (brown hair), Riku (Silver), and Kairi (Red) are building a raft to go on an adventure. The night they were going to leave their home is attacked by unknowable horrors (the dark bug looking things), separating the trio on distant worlds. Sora finds help in the form of a court mage (Donald Duck) and guard captain (Goofy) who set out across the many worlds to hunt for Sora's missing friends and the mysteriously missing king (Mickey Mouse). The vast majority of the worlds are based on existing Disney properties. Anything more specific will be explained in the games if you decide to go through them. Despite what people say, Kingdom Hearts is not that complicated. Its just long.

All three chilling on an island and planning to explore "other world's" before darkness eats up their home and separates them, silver hair guy ends up losing himself to darkness and ends up being a host for the older silver hair guy. Red hair loses her heart and is rendered unconscious. Sora (clown shoes) meets Donald and Goofy in a "world hub" and goes with hem saving different disney world's while looking for king mickey and his friends. The trio reach the end, the real Riku (silver hair) stays behind in the realm of darkness with Mickey, kairi (red hair) goes back to the island, sora and gang continue to find Riku again. That's kh1.

Chain of memories is split in two stories. Sora and gang find a strange castle after chasing pluto, we meet organization 13, they retread worlds from the first game with each world completed draining memories from the group. Blonde girl replaces memories of Sora, forced to do so by organization so they can use Sora for their own purposes. Reach the end, blonde girl apologizes and the group is out in cryostasis to get their memories put back. Riku ends up in the same place and ends up fighting other organization members, learns to control powers of darkness explaining the edgy form, fights the darkness in his heart then teams up with Mickey to find a way to help Sora recover quickly.

Kingdom Hearts is my favorite series!! Once you play, you can't stop because you'll be grabbed to want more of this franchise. If you love Disney and Final Fantasy, HIGHLY recommend. KH2 specifically is considered one of the best games in all of history, you won't find a single person who played hate KH2.

The sudden underwater thing at the end is the border of something called The Final World. It's the afterlife of Kingdom Hearts. As the guardian of that place says, 'the edges of sleep and death touch, and one can't help the occasional crossover'. The stained glass floor it ends at is something called the Station of Awakening. I don't think it's ever explicitly stated what that is, but the game often uses it for foreshadowing. For example, in the first game the tutorial is played out in the Station of Awakening. Sora goes to multiple different stained glass platforms, and each one is decorated with the image of a different Disney Princess. Later on we learn that each of the Princesses that featured in Sora's journey through the Station of Awakening had been captured by the Disney Legion of Doom for use in their plan before the start of the game. That character at the end of the opening of Kingdom Hearts 2 having Sora feature on his Station of Awakening is foreshadowing the deep connection he has to Sora. That character also goes to multiple platforms during a journey through the Station of Awakening, but each of his has the exact same design.

Hey man, I really liked your blind reaction to the opening and speculating about what is happening. If you plan to react to more Kingdom Hearts openings I'd recommend the following openings in the following order: KH1 opening - KH1 secret ending - KH 358/2 opening - KH2 secret ending - KH Birth by Sleep opening - KH 0.2 A Fragmentary Passage opening - KH Dream Drop Distance opening - KH3 opening. All in all it is about a 30 minute watch. Do keep in mind that some openings reveal important events from the games . So if you want to do a completely blind run off the games I would avoid the opening for Dream Drop Distance since it basically recaps the main story plot points up till then. You might also want to skip the 358/2 opening for similar spoiler reasons.

Aint no way he started with KH2 lol teasing aside because this is tech a a final fantasy game the music is guaranteed to be 11/10 and it will also have several diff variations (all of the orchestrial arrangements are amazing), when you get around to KH3 they did an out of left field collab with Skrillex, song is 10/10 Face Your Fears its great buuuut, they also pretty recently did a First Takeish style video where Utads Hikaru (shes been the singer for all of the games) sings it live in studio with a live band too its absolutely amazing. ALso this video was super fun to watch you try and piece together the lore when even a KH fans can barely barely do it lol. I approve of this rabbit hole and the games are finally starting to trickle on to pc cough cough

Donald and Goofy are Sora's constant companions because they're the court wizard and captain of the guard specifically of Disney Castle, of whom Mickey is the king. When stuff starts going down with darkness (those little shadows and things like them), Mickey disappears but leaves a note instructing Donald and Goofy to go looking for someone with a 'key'. That 'key' is Sora's keyblade. They were instructed to find him and work with him to fight back the dark tides. Other Disney characters do join Sora, but they're temporary. There are multiple 'worlds' that are each the setting of various Disney movies, and the temporary party members are 'world' specific. For example, Aladdin accompanies Sora in Agrabah and Ariel in Atlantica. Antagonists from the movies also serve as bosses in the 'worlds'. Jafar is fought at the end of Agrabah, and Ursula at the end of Atlantica. The Disney worlds were more important to the story in the first game because the Disney villains had a Legion of Doom kinda thing going on and the Disney Princesses were like living macguffins for their plans. However, all of the subsequent games have series-original villains that tend to stick to series-original worlds, so the Disney Worlds begin to feel like padding. Especially in Kingdom Hearts 2 where Sora is just world-hopping with Donald and Goofy looking for Mickey and Riku (the white-haired kid). Kingdom Hearts 3 tries to make them more relevant again by having a member of the series-original Legion of Doom show up in each world to antagonize Sora, as well as reusing the princesses, but only two princesses are seen (the magic number is 7) and nothing ever comes of that so it just feels completely unnecessary. Especially when Sora suddenly decides to say 'how 'bout I do, anyway' to the thing he's been wanting to do all game but he's been repeatedly warned he's not ready for, and he winds up being the deciding factor for the thing, so what the heck?

There's actually many more openings than this. All the side games actually have an impact on the main story. And I mean ALL the side stories. Timeline order, the games would be: Kingdom Hearts: Unchained X, and later rebranded Kingdom Hearts: Union X, both having different openings. Set in ancient times, but effecting present times Kingdom Hearts: X Back Cover, (set at the same time as Union X, but focusing on different characters) Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link(yet to be released, though there's a demo out) Set the next generation after Union X Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road. Set in the youth times of series main antagonist Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep. Prologue to main series timeline. 7:48 while we only recently got kingodm hearts 3, there's closer to 10 installments of the franchise out. all of them are canon, all of them (except for the mobile game and recoded) are needed to understand the plot

7:57 they are very solid games, multiple builds to play, but every just reverts to the “hack and slash” way, as it’s easier Kh1 had the rpg loop, platforming. evolving combat, magic, special attacks, and summons. With Disney. Kh2 had this stuff too, but added combat overhaul modifiers, and the summons had their own kits as well. Not to mention the smarter secret bosses. Kh3 was spectacle. Fabs complained because the game was just gifting overpowered attacks that could even be stacked. The non numbered titles gave the players full control over the load out. They could have a large variety of abilities, in exchange for a limit to the amount of abilities they could use at a time. “The deck system”

The Kingdom Hearts series is an absolutely wild ride. It's basically Disney the anime but it has a Final Fantasy-esque plot. It has a ton of wild twists and turns with concepts that just kind of blindside you. Some of them are so out there and over the top that it's just silly but that's why we love it. Then the main numbered entries aren't the only entries that push the main story. They're more like the Avengers movies where the major conflicts take place. Every single game in the series is super important and progresses the story. KH3 wasn't just a sequel to KH2. It was the conclusion of a 20 year storyline that started with KH2. Hell, the next entire story arc is likely built on the foundation of the mobile games. People think "oh yeah, Kingdom Hearts. It's a cute little Disney game series with 3 games." No. It's a big universe with 13 entries out currently. 15 including the upcoming mobile game and KH4. There's so much to sink your teeth into.

This Opening shows the story thusfar luckily as not many played the in-between game back then on the Gameboy Advanced/ Nintendo DS. Mostly Donald and Goofy but you meet almost every single Disney character. The story and characters can get really confusing over the span of the games: lots of alternate world/rebirth shenanigans.

You should definitely watch the other KH openings. Some of them you should skip because they just show clips of scenes from the other games instead of interesting visuals. So the ones that would be the best to watch are the KH1 opening, KH3 opening, KH birth by sleep opening, KH dream drop distance opening (this one is my favorite), and the KH 0.2 opening.
