Something that I love about this film is how Shen basically created Po by trying to destroy the threat. The soothsayer only said that he would be defeated by "a warrior of black and white", not a panda, yet he went on to kill the pandas making Po meet his father and, eventually, Shifu and Oogway, going to show Oogway's words about trying to avoid fate. And the more that Shen tried to avoid it, the more of a monster he became. Until, finally, he accepted his death without fighting it, showing that he truly didn't care. Furthermore, the answer to "Why is the soothsayer with him still" is because she still saw redemption in him. If he had found inner peace and had let go of it, he could've changed. But she found out after talking with him, that he was too far gone. His "happiness" was like a black hole, no matter what you throw in it, it would never be filled. And he would never let go. Goes to show how much they cared for each other, with Shen letting her stay around him without filters and free, and how she simply stayed to try to help him. Honestly my favourite film, with the best antagonist in my opinion

Its the running theme of the series. Even in the first movie when Shifu sends the goose to 'double the security' of the prison, his feather is the reason Tai Lung escapes. Shifu meets his destiny through the path he takes to avoid it

32:46 an interesting little detail that is very easy to miss, is that Po’s Dad hit that one wolf so bad it lost its eye. Not only is that same wolf shown chasing Po’s Mom. It also means that he’s the same wolf that Po has been fighting in this movie.

It's amazing how this movie can make a peacock so scary. I love Po's struggle to learn about himself and find his true self and inner peace, and that "Po Finds the Truth" sequence in the panda village is so beautiful, yet so heartbreaking.

Fun little detail, Mr. Ping mentions in the first movie he had always wanted to sell Tofu, but was made to sell Noodles. Well in this movie we can see him selling Tofu dishes too. Like his son, he’s following his dream too.

This movie takes "One often meets his fate in the road he takes to avoid it" very seriously. Shen tried to avoid his fate by killing all the pandas, and in doing so, created his nemesis.

Shen... Lord is my favorite character in entire trilogy. I mean, just look at him! This peacock has so many inner demons, pain and pride in him, which I just Love! Plus that elegance.. Oof.. Authors regularly hinted what he think, what he couldn't overcome like Po did. They are like funhouse mirror to each other... And his probable death. That acceptance... He was broken befor that, but his defeat just crushed him completely, I even !think! that was kind of half intentional suicide. But who knows.. This monster in heaven birds clothes is mesmerizing. My heart of "Angst villain sucker and all sorts of pain eater" is fluttering in pure joy right now. :3

Everyone believes that po was the worrier of black and white because he was a panda bear, but they never said it was a panda. Multiple times in the movie they depict shen as black and white. And at the end his feathers were cover in black dust. Po didn’t try to end shen but help him. Shen refused and was the reason the canon fell on him. And he basically made po by killing his mother and village. I believe Why shen was at peace with it at the end and just accepted his death was because the worrier of black and white that was gonna stand between him was himself. Brings back the line ougway said at the first movie "one often meets his destiny on the road to avoid it"

If you also think about it...depending how fate had gone, example, if he made the cannons anyway but didn't attack the pandas therefore not causing Po, then Tai Lung was potentially a 'warrior of black and white' as well...depending what shades you think Tai Lung is. Some people may say he's grey and black.

This movie has always been so amazing to me, because it is maybe the only time where I find the sequel to be even slightly better than the first one. It is outstandingly hilarious but at the same time doesnt make you take the emotions and themes less serious. It covers pretty heavy topics for a childs movie, but still does not loose its wholesome and funny spirit. And Shen is one of the best animated villain ever. I am just in awe of this movie

The great thing about 28:19 is that the Legends of the Furious Five movie revealed that Tigress grew up in an orphanage until she was adopted by Shifu. Po's questions about who he is, where he came from and what happened to his parents are questions that Tigress certainly had herself, and if she was in Po's shoes, she would probably find herself going off script and doing whatever it took to find out what happened. At the end of the day, no matter how hardcore Tigress is, she is still (for want of a better word) 'human', and no one in this moment can relate to Po more than she can.

There is actually quite a bunch of Palaces like the "Gongmen" one in China, all of which are preserved and mostly are open for visitors. I think that the "Gongmen" one is a direct reference to the Tiananmen square in Beijing, and i must say from my visit there that it is pretty spectacular

I think the temple you are referencing is the Tianning, there is many more of similar appearance such as the Cishou. In China it's always good to consider, unfortunately, which buildints are original and which ones have been rebuild in an effort to pretend the culture isn't dead. It can get a little tricky outside of Beijing to investigate the history of the buildings.
