Doing fancy and sometimes unnecessary moves may be what you are talking about as skills, controlling the ball and doing whatever you want it to do is skills. Real footballers know what I am talking about. Both players are exceptional but Messi is way better. Zidane is my favorite player by the way so this is not a biased opinion. Ronaldo can run faster, jump higher, seems more determined and committed, can kick the ball harder and is more of an athlete. Watching both of them play shows that what Messi does is way above any other player, Neymar comes the closest to this. If you take away the goals that they score, tell me which one of them is the better player?

However, Ronaldo only beats Messi in 3 things: -Penalties (more goals + higher percentage scored) -Number of goals (but alot more games) -Headings (goals + duels won) Messi wins out in all other aspects. -More g/a per game/minute -More goals if penalties are removed -More dribbles -More passes (completed + accuracy) -More assists -More trophies -More plays created(!) Messi has been named MotM (Man of the Match) in 52-53% of ALL his professional games. That's insane playing with a stacked Barca squad + an entire opposing team of professional, great players. Ronaldo has been MotM in 30-31% of all his games which is also absolutely insane. Everyone who has played with Messi say the same thing: "I've never seen anyone do what he does". Even in training he would take the ball, dribble the whole team and score... Like Zidane said: "I was 1sec ahead of the rest, but you (Messi). You are 3sec ahead of everybody. The only one".
