This actually came out around Johnny's 40th birthday. As a weird fact, the second and third movies were filmed together and he rented my old boss' vacation house in The Bahamas for the entire shoot. He ended up breaking the bed in the master bedroom (write your own joke there) and paid for a new one. My boss never met him but they (probably Johnny's "people") left a nice note apologizing for the bed and thanking them.

I know this is old but jack got cursed not because he touched the gold but specifically because he stole one from the stone chest. That's why Elizabeth was never a skeleton at night despite having the medallion the entire film because she just found it after it was stolen. The curse only applies to people who steal directly from the chest.

Literally a staple of my childhood, have watched it at least 50 times, like the first 4 & will always remember the Disney land I think it was, pirates of the Caribbean ride. As a kid & that I loved the movies it was awesome. Johnny depp winning his case against amber heard is the icing on top, love him. Had a salty ex gf try to make up lies ab me a few years ago, had to pay thousands to lawyers but proved my innocence & was cleared, so I’ve got a lotta respect for any man falsely accused who fights the lies in the legal system & wins. It’s extremely hard to do, now if you actually did it & are found guilty then fuck you but if you were innocent, fight that shit tooth & nail in court

I know they have only seen the movie once now, so they weren't able to get fully enthrawled in it, but I dislike when people consider Barbosa to be the "bad guy" or "evil". Yes, he is the main antagonist, but what really makes him any more evil than Jack? Mutinee I suppose. But other than that... they're both pirates, pilagers, thieves, killers who lean more toward the side of selfish. Interested only in what they can get out of others. I think Barbosa (in this movie anyway) has more depth than what a lot of people assume. The fact that they didn't include, in their reaction, the parts where Barbosa shows a lot of sorrowful emotions in light of his curse shows me that they didn't fully grasp the weight his story carries. Or they simply weren't interested in it. But I assume the former. The subtle releif in his face as he dies... the delivery of the lines "I feel... cold" by Geoffrey Rush. It moves me now as it did the first time I saw this movie. Every time, giving me chills... SO many people don't really WATCH a movie when they watch a movie. They just go through the motions. I dislike it when I see that in someone. Almost to an unhealthy point. I"ve broken up with a girl because of that lol

wigs were used for many reasons, formality mainly, but they also served to keep your head warm in colder areas, which is why sometimes you'll see Napoleonic war soldiers having hats and wigs, particularly from England, Russia, Prussia, and Sweeden.

Wigs were worn by men as a fashion accessory after kings started wearing them to cover their hair loss. Upper class men started to wear wigs to appear more kingly and the trend also caught on with men among the general population. Also, head lice was a reality of the day back in the 1600s & 1700s and wigs were used as a head cover against infestation or to cover scalp infections. Those men who had full heads of hair typically would not wear a wig unless attending a formal dinner then it was fashionable to do so. BTW I really enjoy watching your reaction videos. You're a great couple & watching your reaction videos is like watching a movie with you guys.
@maurivid83 Жыл бұрын
Plus, a lot of people would shave their heads in order to prevent lice, and so they wore wings so they weren't so unsightly.

I can't remember where I heard it but my understanding is the wigs were a trend set by royalty who were trying to hide hair loss caused by syphilis or something. I could be wrong lol
@HugeFilmFan2 жыл бұрын
Also lice I think.
@Comissar_Carolus2 жыл бұрын
It was mostly a trend. Some kings would use it to hide their loss of hair because the way you looked was very important back then, it was a sign of your wealth and prestige.

It's not anyone who touches the gold that gets cursed. If you take one, but don't return it immediately, then you're cursed. Sparrow took four, but quickly brought back three. The fourth one cursed him, but then he cut himself, just as Will cut himself, and then the curse was lifted.
@alinac55122 жыл бұрын
Honestly Ive never though about it but where is the "quickly returned=not cursed" part clarified? Thinking about it Jack should be coursed either way for taking some pieces out of the chest and not paying the blood.

Pirates 1, 2 and 3 tell one big, overarching story that has a beginning, middle and end. Pirates 4 and 5 are standalone stories starring Jack Sparrow (and aren't as good as the OG trilogy).
@s1ugtrail9782 жыл бұрын
Wigs: One reason wigs were popularized back in those time periods was because baldness was a symptom of syphilis or leprosy I can't remember which. Probably the latter of the two considering the leprosy plague... Anyways so those whom were affected in such a way would wear wigs, white powder wigs to be specific. However because of this fact if you went naturally bald you ended up wearing a wig anyways so that you would not be perceived as having such a disease. Leading to even more people wearing wigs.

I actually rode the original Pirates Of The Caribbean ride at Disneyland in the late 60’s /early 70’s as a wee lad. The movie os based e to off that specific attraction. It was- amazing. The dog with the Bone, and the keys, is in the ride- as are many other key elements of the film. I hear the ride is now based off the movie. I haven’t been to Disneyland in over 20 years now, so I have no idea. You should look up “Disneyland in the 60’s/70’s” somewhere on KZbin there must be footage There’s probably even footage of the original ride or “attraction” Which was an “E-Ticket” Ride As back in the day, one purchased a book of tickets lettered A-E E being for the big attractions such as Matterhorn or Pirates, A being a carriage ride or similar It was not one price- ride all you can. You two would have LOVED it. Much different than it is now.
