The "Atom" kid is Astro Boy, that's his original name in japanese, in the west they named him Astro. This show is based on the manga of the same name by Naoki Urasawa, creator of "Monster", and the Pluto manga is based on an arc in the original Astro Boy manga.

The little kid is Atom/Astro Boy. This is based off the Astro Boy anime arc “The Greatest Robot in the World”

Imo Naoki Urasawa is the greatest mangaka of all time, nobody else has such a good record. Sadly so far the only anime adaptation was for Monster, so im really happy about this adaptation

He has two more anime adaptations, Master Keaton and Yawara!. So now he has 4 anime adaptation of his work. The problem is that the other two that came out before Monster are VERY underrated

Haven’t seen monster but I’ve only seen good things about it it’s on my plan to watch hopefully Pluto is on the saw level as his other work

I warn you the animation in this show is gorgeous but the effects are super cheap so hopefully that dosent ruin the experience

I disagree, it's certaintly has a style that's unusual, but it's actually a conscious choice by the Studio making it. It's based on the visual style of "Metropolis" anime film, which is another of Ozamu Tezuka's work, including Atom (Pluto arc).

@@luisalex.r.8992 I mean even the animators themselves were unhappy with the effects. That's saying something
