People sometimes forget what a talented writer Stallone is. The movies have heart and soul and have moved many people even today.. He also wrote a great character in Apollo Creed. He could have easily written him to be one-dimensional but he gave him an incredible arc.

Stallone also directed Rocky 2, 3, 4, 5 and Rocky Balboa. The producers didn't let him direct the first ROCKY, that's reasonable.

To me, Burgess Meredith (the actor who plays Mick) is one of the greatest character actors of all time. he was awesome as The Penguin in the Batman TV series. Much like William Shatner his appearances on the Twilight Zone were epic (and soul scarring). And of course, the 1939 film adaptation of John Steinbeck's "Of Mice and Men"...never been reacted to. 😉

It makes me happy to see younger generations go back in time to see the great movies we grew up with. The 1960s-1980s have been ripped off by culture for the last 30+ years. There is a reason they do that: our stuff was that good. Keep up great reactions.

It's not surprising that Rocky was a good sport after the fight, but I think it's worth noting that Apollo was very sportsmanlike too. He showed a lot of maturity and class if you see his interaction with Rocky.

If you think about it, both fighters ultimately got what they wanted. Rocky won the title and the means to provide for his family. Apollo got back the respect of the fans for facing Rocky head-on and losing fair and square (rather than relying on points.)

@@terminallumbago6465 honestly even If he did decide to back off and not go for the knockout win. People would have to be blind to say Apollo didn't beat the shit out of Rocky and won. Rocky was just a mountain Apollo couldn't knock out. Apollo honestly defeated himself. His pride as an undefeated heavyweight boxing champion for 40+plus wins majority ko was too much to hold back.
@terminallumbago6465
@terminallumbago6465 7 ай бұрын
@@darren092188 But sports fans are like that. They couldn’t see that Rocky went the distance on his own talent and determination. They thought Apollo carried him or took it easy on him. Of course this is partly a self-inflicted wound on Apollo’s part because he was going around saying he would knock Rocky out immediately.

The left versus right stances and guards can be difficult to understand for a beginner. The right-handed fighters are the most common. They usually put their left foot and hand in front with their right hand almost cocked back. They jab with the left hand. They also hook with the left. Most of the power punches come from the right, like the straight right hand or the uppercut. You can also see the occasional left uppercut from a right-hander. Left-handed fighters do all of the above in reverse. Some people can switch back and forth from left and right-handed boxing. You can also have fighters who mix these stances and guards up a lot, throwing hooks with either hand or whatever. And yes, each round is scored, in case the fight goes to the scorecard (the distance), like it did in the first movie. Usually, the winner of the round gets 10 points, and the loser 9, unless there is a knockdown. The fighter knocked down usually gets 8 if knocked down once and 7 if knocked down twice. There are quite a few other details when it comes to scoring a round. There were 15 rounds for these fights, but usually 12 rounds in championship fights today.

Every time I watch these movies with you and you begin to cry and laugh it starts making me cry and laugh. I've already seen them several times over, but never gets old. Thanks for keeping it real. Feels like the first time I saw it in the movie theater when I was a young boy. Very refreshing. Never gets old. They just don't make em like they use to. It's like a emotional roller coaster. It's easy to become emotionally attached to these characters. That's why they call them classic movies. I remember the movie theater audience laughing, cheering then clapping out loudly when Micky says out loudly, "What are we waiten fur?". I had never seen an movie audience crowd start cheering like that to a movie. It was awesome. That's one of the most epic classic lines in move history you always remember. I enjoyed watching you laugh and cry to it. Great job. Thanks

I did it again. Everytime I see this film I fast forward past Rocky making his first commercial. I do it with reactors too in that scene. I just feel so bad for Rocky. That scene with Rocky asking Mickey for a job breaks my heart everytime. Incredible scene with both actors. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen this film, but your reaction to hearing Adrian in a coma got to me. First time I choked back tears. “WIN!” Forget it. I am a blubbering mess. Rocky! Rocky! You asked yourself where you were when this film came out, that you didn’t go see it then. In my case, seeing it again through your eyes and those of other reactors, Rocky and Rocky 2 have aged very well. I didn’t appreciate them as much then as I do now. With one’s own disappointments and hardships to look back on, Rocky 2 has become even more meaningful. Like everyone, I related to Rocky, but at my age now I started seeing myself more in Mickey’s character.

I think it was Stallone who said that the Rocky movies pretty much mirrors his career at the time the movies were made, especially the first five ones. And even though he wasn't happy with the fifth one, it is a must watch to get the full Rocky experience. And because of that he made Rocky Balboa 16 years later, which is sooo good! So I look forward to your reactions to all of them. I really wish there could be a CD release of the actual arrangements of the songs from Rocky II. The bits from the Training Montage and Gonna Fly Now are the best one in the series, even though they are reworked from the ones in the original, but they got so much more Oumpf! here. (minor edit for clarity)

I feel like Mickey knew exactly what Rocky needed in a given situation. When Rocky was struggling to train, Mickey was the trainer being hard on him and trying to push him to be better. When Rocky was sitting in the chapel while Adrian was in a coma, Mickey was the father figure who never left his side.

Wonderful and beautiful and authentic reaction, Bunny. One of your best ever IMO. Soooooo authentic. Really appreciate that as an audience member of yours on this video. It was all very moving. Very. Thank you. This brought home a lot of memories, brought them right to the surface for me...........When I saw Rocky 2 for the first time ever many many years ago, I somehow went into it without any spoilers of any kind whatsoever to mar the experience. I mean as I watched it back then I honestly had doubts that Rocky would win as the final fight proceeded---and this was really upsetting me. I was so emotionally involved, my adrenaline must have been all over the place ---I mean I was really pulled into this movie. VERY far in. That doesn't happen to me too often, but any time it does...those end up being the best and most profound movie experiences of my life. The ending of Rocky 2 was such a joy for me...for more reasons than I can grasp hold of. Honestly, I had started to convince myself that there was going to be a let down. That's REALLY where I was in my mind, late in the fight. It didn't help that even though Apollo went down in the 15th round, so did Rocky. Then both of them trying to beat that ten second count....with Apollo seeming to be doing a better job getting up than Rocky (at least at first). For a moment or so I wasn't even convinced that Rocky had actually beaten the count. For a moment I was like, "UGH!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE THIS END IN A DRAW!!!??? WHAT!!?? UGH!!!!! I NOW HAVE TO WAIT FOR A ROCKY 3 !!!????" smh smh smh lol Sorry for writing a book, Bunny.

Fun Fact: no chickens were harmed in filming this movie. Another Fun Fact: the infant is actually Sly's 2nd son in real life. They could have cut out the end credits in rocky 1 and the intro in rocky 2 and it could have been 1 whole movie. Also if a boxer gets knocked down 3 times in the same round, that's an automatic knockout and that person loses the fight.

You have one of the best reaction to this movie I've seen. Its strange but this is an old movie for many. However, you watching it for the first time, in a way brings it back to life. Everyone has their favorite Rocky movie. For me, this was the best one. I heard that when they approached Sylvester Stallone to make another movie all he did was borrow from his own life. The making of the first Rocky movie was the success we see at the start of the movie. The follow up with success fading away was life after the movie. The winning at the end is the bigger pay they gave him to make the squeal. Sylvester Stallone always has a theme in his movies. He believes its only the winners that get back up when everyone else won't that makes all the difference in life.

Interesting tidbit of trivia: While the fights in both this movie and the original were _set_ at the same venue (the now demolished Philadelphia Spectrum), only _this_ movie was actually _filmed_ there. The original was filmed in L.A. at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Also, during the opening credits the ambulance transporting Rocky to the hospital is seen crossing the Girard Point Bridge, which spans the Schuylkill River. But both the Spectrum and the Philadelphia Hospital (where Rocky is taken to) are on the same side of the river. Thus, there was no actual need for the ambulance to be on the bridge in the first place.

19:07 I know that feeling. I played hockey from the time I was 6 until 12 yrs old. Every time I walk into an ice rink it has a certain smell that kinda makes me say "Man I miss being here."

Rocky the movie franchise is about the romance between Rocky and Adrian as said by Stallone himself. It is a love story with drama and struggles that happens to have boxing in it.

Loved how you found answers to your own questions. Yes, each round is scored on points. That is why there are 3 judges to independently score the fight so there will have to be a winner. Each round is worth 10pts. Winner gets 10 loser gets 9 or less. This is why Apolo in won the first fight. They are left handed or right handed fighters based on how they stand. Weak foot usually in front. Your strong hand more to the back. You generally jab with weak hand. Feeling out distance, testing the waters and trying to create the opportunity for the back strong hand knockout punch. That way you more likely to be safe when you throw it

Its lovely to see Mick attends Rocky's wedding, shows that Mick really cares. He doesn't come across as being a churchbody, and he's not Catholic because he comments that he gets "noivous" when Rocky crosses himself.

Fighting with his right he would hold his glove up by his eye protecting it and his left would be out jabbing him and then he would use the right for the power punch. The exact opposite would be southpaw which is left

You were touched by the emotions in Rocky II. Another exhilarating but true sports movie is “Miracle (2004)’. I remember watching that final USA/USSR hockey match in the 1980 Winter Olympics. Just a couple of months later America failed a military rescue attempt of the Iranian hostages and there had been almost 10 yrs of economic bad news. These 2 events meant quite a bit to the morale of young people in America going into the Reagan years. Please consider watching it.

Boxing point system crash course: 1. There are 3 judges outside the ring keeping track of how many punches are thrown and how many land accurately. They also look for things like who is the most aggressive, who has the best defense, and who is controlling how the fight is going (who sets the tempo or who is following who). 2. Each round both fighters start with 10 points. Based on the above whomever the judges decide won a round keeps all 10 points. The loser loses 1 point so typically it ends 10 to 9. However you can lose more points. Things like low blows/illegal actions can cost you points. Famously Mike Tyson lost 2 points for biting Evander Holyfield's ear before doing it again and being disqualified. You can also lose points for getting knocked down. So since Rocky went down twice in the first 2 rounds those ended 10-8 instead of 10-9 so by round 3 Apollo was as ahead as he'd normally be by the 5th round so really by that point Rocky's only chance to win was by knockout. Hope that's not too difficult or odd to follow and that it helps.

As Sylvester Stalone said Rocky is not a Boxing Movie, it is a Romantic Saga that happens to be about a Boxer. Adrian is his Rock.

BT, you showed us your heart and now all of us say and know what I learned when I first saw you reacting to Terminator. You have a incredibly special heart and your gift to empathically share it with others, is something that world needs desperately. I can never thank you enough for sharing it with us. I am grateful to you and your husband that gives up time he could be experiencing this gift just for himself, he supports you in sharing it with the world. Please thank him for me and I can only imagine how proud your father is of his princess shinning a light in the darkness the world is enveloped in. We love you and your ability to help us forget the negativity in the world for a while and bathe in the love and emotions you let us experience. May you feel and experience the love and joy you bring and share with us.

Boxing has a unique scoring system. From what I understand, individual rounds are awarded to each boxer based on the number of quality punches thrown, quality of defensive efforts, minus any deductions for rule violations, you reach a point where a boxer is behind and can't hope to win on points and must KO his opponent. The tricky part is figuring the points into the mix, because most rounds give the winner a one or two point advantage (10-9 or 10-8) but I believe it is possible to have fewer points to the loser of a given round. For the most part, scoring a boxing match is as much of an art as it is a science, which is why KO's or TKO's (technical knock outs) are preferred outcomes.

Nice reaction! This film has always been my personal favorite of the franchise. Not to speak negatively about the other movies, but the way this one progresses the story and characters was great. I also enjoyed how they didn’t make the Apollo Creed character an archetype antagonist, but one who has a relatable story like the hero. There’s an interview in which Stallone has said this series was designed to be a trilogy. As you watch the rest of the films, you’ll see how prevalent his words were. Cannot wait for your reaction to the 3rd film. That movie has some pleasant surprises, as it relates to progression of characters.
