This was the first R rated comedy movie I ever watched, it was Friday night I was 14 and my friend was sleeping over we'd been playing games and eating chips etc. and I asked my mom and she said it was fine but it was the unrated version and she forgot how bad it was. I never laughed that hard ever or since and my friend would rewind it because he was laughing at my laugh and she came in right as the bathroom sex scene came on and I was still laughing, and when I asked my mom why she didn't stop it she said because she saw how happy I was and how hard I was laughing and decided to just let us finish the movie

I saw this movie at 15 and have watched it at least a hundred times since then. This movie has been a leading factor in my success in jobs I’ve had throughout my life. Every foreman or manager I’ve had has been able to communicate almost exclusively with quotes from Step Brothers 😂

Mary Steenburgen is the mother in this movie. Catherine Keener was in "The Forty Year Old Virgin". But I totally get how you could think they're the same person. And don't get too weirded out by the nutsack...it was a prosthetic prop. Yeah, John C Reilly actually is a drummer, and actually played the drums for the Catalina Wine Mixer.

Catalina Wine Mixer is a thing actually, but THANKS to this movie. I guess some rich people liked the idea, and now it's a yearly event. It's not a corporate party like this one, but more like, you can buy the tickets online for a summer vacation with a lot of activities. From what I read from their web page, they do screenings of the movie in a theater in one of the islands.
