There were definitely things I wish they kept from the books, but some stuff I’m happy they didn’t put into the movies. I’m still kind of sad over the absence of Thomas and Brenda’s progress in relationship.

Thomas and Brenda were hiding from a group of them one time and the main crank was saying something along the lines of wanting to rip their ears off so he could have the ears because he lost a ear, and when he caught Thomas he tried to rip his ear off. but they were definitely way creepier in the books, really everything was

The other films are really good it doesn’t exactly follow the books but what’s introduced next with the other trials is so interesting and it’s a shame they never adapted the prequels in any way because it adds to the story even more

I knew you would have liked this movie! Your reaction to Chuck - honestly, the whole fandom was with you. I don't think there's a single soul who's read the books and/or watched the movies who didn't get attached to him and didn't feel what happened to him. I really hope you're gonna continue watching. The fact that „baby face“ aka Thomas Brodie Sangster was 24 when filming this movie is funny, especially when you‘ve seen him at 15 (what they would have been in the maze) but also you need to look up Will Poulter now, he got a nice glow up. Also he gets better in the third movie. The reactions were so funny, I love these movies and books to death, so this was very refreshing to watch lol

idk if people have mentioned this, but as someone who read the books, it bugs me that the sun scorched the world, and yet i the movies the maze is above ground and the guys get direct sunlight. In the book, the whole maze is underground, the sky is a ceiling, and it's all powered by electricity. They have showers, a kitchen with appliances even. So they are not affected by the sun that mind you after they leave it is described to give you terrible burns after a few minutes of exposure to it so they traveled by covering themselves with cloths. ofc there's other stuff that bugs me, but now that I re read these books recently, it is one of the things that just doesn't make sense in the movies. The point is that the sun never really stopped being dangerous even after it is said that it cooled down as time went on.

Yes, but in the films, the scorch is in the past, it's not on-going. The Earth is slowly recovering. The maze was built after the scorch (why would it have been built befoe?) The films are not set in the same universe as the books. The same characters in similar situations, but they evolve differently. The written word and filmmaking are two different art forms. They're going to be different.

It was very astute of this reactor to remark that maybe Thomas created the maze. He did, indeed. Of course, he doesn't know it, except, maybe, at a deeply subconscious level. To answer this reactor's question as to why Minho is attempting to bring Alby back after Alby was stung, I offer the following explanation. Recall there are three rules in the Glade. None concern being stung. Ben was not banished because he was stung per se, but because he tried to kill Thomas. Also, we know punishment for rule-breaking is decided by a "court." When Thomas broke rule #3, Gally prosecuted Thomas before a court presided over by Newt. We can reasonably assume there was a similar proceeding to decide Ben's fate, which I'm sure Thomas was not in agreement with. So, even if Alby was stung, it was not up to Minho to "banish" him ipso facto. Minho, out of loyalty and affection, attempted to bring Alby back to the Glade where his fate would ultimately have to be decided. However, Minho was not obligated to commit suicide to save Alby. When it became clear he couldn't save Alby, Minho should have left him and saved himself. A difficult situation to be in for sure, especially when being so close to his goal. Ultimately, Minho waited too long and so was trapped in the maze. That's when fear took Minho captive, and he subsequently abandoned both Alby and Thomas. However, Thomas, as we will see over and over, is absolutely selfless. He never abandons anyone even when it makes sense to do so. Accordingly, he enters the maze in an attempt to save both Minho and Alby.

The Maze Runner series is my favorite book series, and although the movies don't follow the books exactly, these are also some of my favorite movies. PLEASE watch the second and third ones, a lot of crazy stuff happens and I would love to see your reaction!! Also, I don't know if you are a reader, but the book series actually consists of 5 books, one which is a prequel, and one which basically explains the whole story and everything you don't get from the rest of the books. They are so good, but it's a shame they didn't make them into movies :(
