so i only recently learned this bit of trivia: the ship the thing crashed in was not it's own. it was ANOTHER alien species that it had infected and THEY crashed into earth so it wouldnt get to their home. and they werent transporting it, it attacked/hitched a ride with them

This movie was one of the first to genuinely have me on edge and I still love it. The fear of the unknown, the fear of betrayal and realizing you don't really know people at all, the body horror, and finding out what kind of person you are and doing what's right when it matters most, all on the back drop of the very real fear of being hopelessly stuck in an isolated and hostile environment - gah, it's just chefs kiss. The ending is still soo perfect for the story too. They freeze to death as they should or maybe one of em gets got by the other bc surprise monster. I don't know, I don't care - either way ty for nightmares I guess.

I recommend Stir of Echoes. Good creepy ghost story mystery 👻 and it has Kevin Bacon 😜 One of my favs and it doesn't get enough love. Blair was himself when he sabotaged the communications. He didn't want the Thing to spread. When they put him outside someone got to him. You can see the noose where he was going to take himself out but didn't get the chance. This is one of the few ambiguous movie endings that I really liked.

I love a lot of types of horror movies so here is a big list. Hope you enjoy: Killer Klowns From Outer Space (a campy horror comedy ❤) Trick R Treat ❤ Tucker and Dale vs Evil (this is a satire for horror films like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, it’s really fun) The Final Girls (also a satire but for the summer camp horror movies) Southbound (this is a horror movie I love but I don’t ever see get movie reactions, I don’t hear it get talked about much and I think that is a shame, I won’t explain anything cause I would love to see your reaction going in blind but it is definitely a take more serious one) It Follows (i enjoyed this one) Prom Night 2 (no, it has no connection to the first original Prom Night, very different, might as well not be related) Rosemary’s Baby (it’s a classic horror and yet I don’t see much reactions to it) The Stepfather 1987 (also a classic that got a remake, can ignore that) If you are open to foreign horror films then… Train to Busan (amazing South Korean zombie film from 2016) Tigers Are Not Afraid (💔 A Mexican crime-fantasy horror film from 2017) Las Brujas de Zugarramurdi (sometimes found under the name “Witching & Bitching”, a horror comedy from Spain) I have so many more I can suggest but I’ll stop here for now 😊🙃

Unrelated to The Thing lol, but if you want to watch something else with Wilford Brimley in it, there's a really fun queer comedy called In & Out (1997) that I think you guys would love. He plays the main character's (Kevin Kline) dad, with Debbie Reynolds playing the mom, and it's got a mustacheless Tom Selleck and a hysterical Joan Cusack and it's honestly just such a fun little movie lol. Hope you guys check it out sometime 😁

The Blob (1988) is a great reaction option. (also, i don't think it would make a great reaction, but Society (1989) is worth checking out, just for the special effects craziness in it at the least. the imdb synopsis spoils the movie a bit tho, but it's a great one to go in completely not knowing anything about it beforehand)

I watched the original Blob (1958) on Creature Feature in Tampa, FL in the 80's. It was a local-ish show where a host in full-on campy, creepy makeup introduced a scary movie on Saturday afternoons. Scared the crap outta me as a kid. So I have a fondness for that version, if only for the banger of an intro song. 🎶 It creeps and leaps and writhes and slides across the floor 🎶

Great reaction. This is my favourite horror movie. It's based on the 1938 novel Who Goes There? Written by John W.Campbell Jr. It was first adapted as a film in 1951 which was called The Thing from Another World. This 1982 version is actually very close to the original book story. The 2011 prequel isn't nearly as good, but is still worth a watch. Subscribed 😊

This is my first time seeing your videos, glad you picked this movie! It is, literally, the pinnacle of practical special effects. I will say, dim the lights and try to stay off your phones to give these amazing horror films the chance they deserve to work on you! The other one that is in this league, but is also a (very, very dark) dark comedy is An American Werewolf in London (1981), looks like you watched Evil Dead but the much better, wildly fun one is Evil Dead 2 (1987), even Jaws (1975) may not be considered horror (?) but is very good - and more recently check out It Follows (2014) and Barbarian (2022). Enjoy!

The best horror movie ever made in my opinion. I cant think of a worse scenario to find yourself in. You're battling an intelligent alien and you dont know if its malicious or simply trying to survive, it can only be deleted via acid/fire, you cant tell an imitation without a very specific test, it can end you just by touching you and if it gets to water or transportation its not just the end of humanity, but the ENTIRE world. Every winter when i hear the wind howl i think of this movie. The dog deserved all the awards for this one ! Also, this film inspires me to get a flamethrower, cause....you never know 😂 Btw Blair wasn't infected until he was put in the shed. He was human before that.

Fantastic reaction!, Benji?, in the pink Hoodie , when you said you think you saw the prequel, and you fell asleep on it, I was like huh, your not falling asleep on this one,..hmmpf, and when the thing breaks out, the dog, the chest huh, mouth crunching on doc's arms, the head dripping off the table, then trying to make it's escape (isn't that a sentence, the head trying to escape 🤢), and when Palmer's infected blood, huh, also trying to escape, leaping off the petri dish, ohh and Bennings thing, doing that God awful blood curdling scream,..just loved watching ya'll jump back away from the screen,..guy in the black shirt, honey you were just a deer in the headlights, mouth open, jaw dropped, not moving, I couldn't tell if you were breathing, huh,..when I went to see this 40 years ago, I was the same way,..unlike ya'll however, I made the mistake of buying a whole bunch of food, thinking I was just gonna chomp down through the whole movie, stopped eating after the dog break out,....had to cart everything home,..Benji saw you gag a couple times, ya'll were smart not to eat during this,..the critics weren't kind to this movie, but that's why I really don't pay attention to them anymore, just before this, Terminator came out,..Siskle of Siskel and Ebert wasn't keen on that one, Ebert was a more inclined scifi fan, think he liked the whole paranoia approach, but if I remember, not a fan of all the gore,..Carpenter, aside from, having it in for dogs😉, did a brilliant job here, the whole premise,.and the special effects people, magnificent job, detail, if this makes you sickened, like a first year med student carving up their first cadaver, then the effects are primo👌,.so thrilled that you recognized some of the actors, at that time, I only knew Russell, and T.K. Carter,..only reason I knew Russell, is because he did quite a few Disney movies, when he was much younger, it was quite surprising to see him play someone so hard, weathered, and yet still young(by the by, his son is his twin for crying out loud, and so you should see Gary Busey's son in Starship Troopers, he certainly is his twin!), and I can't remember if I recognized him, but Richard Dysart, aka doc, was in Prophecy(not Prophecy with Christopher Walken), before Thing,....do check that out, and you recognized Keith, yes, yess, he is certainly no stranger to scifi, do check out They Live, another Carpenter movie, and Wilfred Brimley,..I read an article that he was ex military, and the scene where they gang up on him to take him down, was no problem for him, the physicality of it, he took in stride,..I know he's known for the diabetes commercials, but he is a fine actor,..really,..so glad you enjoyed this, no cgi, all hands on sculpted, puppeteers, of horror,..do check out the trailers for Thing, first one deceptive, no clue what it may be about,, certainly not concerning aliens, The Hidden, as it's name suggests, an alien hidden, in plain sight,..also, check out Bad Moon,..another with a dog, but better story, for the dog anyway,..Godspeed, Peace ✌

Horror recommendations from me would be: Return of the Living Dead, Ginger Snaps, Suspiria (2018), Def by Temptation, Evil Dead Trap, Repo the Genetic Opera (because I want to see you watch a horror musical), Night of the Demons, Bloody Mallory (which is like gay Buffy Power Rangers), Reanimator, and From Dusk til Dawn (would be amazing if you went in completely blind). A non horror movie I’d love to see you guys watch is the Wild Boys by Bertrand Mandico.

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate the practical effects. Miles better than many more recent movies and especially cgi.

I was curious what exactly the thing was because we never get to see it in the I guess “original form” it’s described as a hive minded, shape shifting multi organism. I think the mystery of not knowing exactly what it is or looks likes makes this all the more creepy, i like in this one they did blood and in the remake it’s non organic materials like fillings.

The computer at the beginning was only for chess, and it actually did make an illegal move. So when he broke it and called it a "cheating b*tch", he was actually right. The computer cheated.
