The Wood is the movie of my life. Here are some fun facts: Malinda Williams who played young Alicia was 28 or 29 years older in this movie. She is older than Sanaa Lathan who played the adult version of her, six years older than DeAundre Bonds who played her brother & 10 years older than Sean Nelson who played young Mike. She played a junior high & high school student & she was believable. Li’Maya Good (The sister of Megan Good) was in the movie. She was the girl who Mike was trying to lose his virginity to. Malinda Williams DeAundre & Boo played by Antwone Tanner were also in Sunset Park. Omar Epps & Sanaa Lathan were also in Love Basketball, Taye Diggs & Sanaa Lathan were also in The Best Man, Brown Sugar & The Best Man Holiday & Richard T. Jones who played adult Slim & DeAundre Bonds were also in Lockdown. The director Rick Famuyima & his friends were in the convenient store when Roland was drunk. I LOVE my era man......Entire movie, from when they were kids until they were adults, no cell phones, no social media. Having fun and experiencing life, without their face planted in a phone half the day. Without taking a million pix. Its like a time capsule. Much simpler times. I appreciate this movie even more now.

The Wood has always been one of, if not my favorite hood classic that doesn't involve us getting killed and being on drugs. Beautiful movies, I think another good one with Mos Def called Brown Sugar is another one, MAJOR underrated movie
