Michael Jordan is the undisputed greatest of all time. You go anywhere in the world where basketball isn’t even a thing and they know his jersey and name. His name and legacy transcends basketball, he defined an entire era and owned the 90s. The goat debate is simply pointless. The real debate is, who is in second place?

I lived through his entire carrer. I remember watching him play Georgetown and he hit that last shot. I hated him. Then i went to a game and was in awe. And you're correct, him diving for the ball and not taking games off made me appreciate him. Don't see that nowadays. Kobe is 2nd in my opinion. Just because of his mind set.

The amount of games he played every season with no time management games off, the multiple deep playoff runs, the intensity and effort he gave every time he was on the floor on both ends of the court, the work he our in during off season ( and played high level pick-up games in the summer, the Olympics all had an effect on his body and his longevity. Then there's the physical nature of the game when he played. No private jets and technology they have today was brutal on the human body. Imagine if Bron went through all of that and more do you think he longevity would be the same and why? Think about it all. and not with what they have today but what they had back then.

Just remember this, Jordan as great as he was, had to wait for Larry Bird to retire before he won one Title. Every time they met in the playoffs Bird won.

Gambling didn't play a part im whether or not Jordan would have won more championships. Retiring after the first three peat and then management breaking the team apart after the second three peat is the only thing that kept him from possibly winning more titles.

One of the greatest defenders in history Dennis Rodman said that he would lock LeBron down easily because Bron has no moves. I'm sure to today's generation that sounds ridiculous. However those that were around when Mike played can imagine Rodman or Pippen picking up LeBron full court and making it extremely difficult for him because he is not a great ball handler and needs open lanes to get downhill. He is not nearly as good off the ball. Bron is a more athletic Magic Johnson with less ball handling skills than Magic. He compares more to Magic than he does to MJ. He even compares to Pippen but Pip was a much better defender and even got his teammates more involved than Bron does.
