Before they got Tim Allen for Buzz, they offered it to Billy Crystal, who turned it down. He still says to this day it was the biggest mistake he ever made, and so when he was offered Mike Wazowski in Monsters Inc, he jumped on it.

Absolutely a franchise that you should see through to the end. 3, in particular, I find to be a stellar film. Just remember to watch all the way through the credits! Pixar was famous for their mid- and post-credit fun long before Marvel made it a thing.

This movie was groundbreaking because it used the CG animation in a smart way: make plastic toys the main focus instead of fleshy characters. I suspect this is also why Pixar loves anthropomorphic main characters.

This was completely state of the art in '95, huge crowd pleaser at the cinema. Even jaded 17 year old me loved it, but then I was already fascinated by PIXAR's work - so an entire feature by them was always going to be exciting to me. Toy Story 2 is just as great if not better. Bring tissues.

And for ME, for Toy Story 3... the anxiety "won" lol. BUT on the OTHER hand... recently, certain scenes from the movie "Nimona" got me JUST AS BAD as Avengers: Endgame got Seb(!). In fact, Nimona was the FIRST movie to "get me" during RE-watches times (11 times total)! I was totally shocked at that, because it's usually difficult to find a movie to make me cry at all, and until "Nimona", NO movie had ever made me cry more than once (!)

Toy Story 1, 2, and 3 are all masterpieces I highly recommend watching those. Toy Story 3 has a perfect ending that was supposed to be the end but Disney is greedy and made an unnecessary 4th and an even more unnecessary 5th confirmed.

The Toy Story characters did at one point fall to the ground and play dead at the phrase “Andy's coming”, but once people became aware of it, they started doing it so much that the staff ended up injuring themselves, so it was stopped.

They were originally supposed to have a GI Joe blown up, but Hasbro refused, saying they were upset with them blowing it up. The compromise they reached was that they could have Potato Head instead. Pixar agreed, and they made it a Combat Carl instead.

I love how perspective works with this movie. Lets say the toys weren't alive. Sid is just a normal kid doing stupid things unsupervised, but its just how he plays. Teases his sister. And is actually really creative with mixing up the toys. His dad was hinted to being a drunk, and obviously not having good parents. Another thing I like is when Sids door is opened, the toys immediately tried to block the door, the spider baby head shook their head, and the doll head on the rolling toy was on lookout. I never noticed that hint that they were good for the longest time Lol.

You used to be able to shout "Andy's coming" but they stopped it because it became a hazard and once people caught on, they were doing it all the time so it became a hassle for the performers. But yeh they did used to fall to the ground :)

Woody was originally supposed to be the main villain and also a ventriloquist's doll. During the window scene, Woody pushed Buzz out instead of Buzz being knocked out by the lamp.

All Toy Story movies are great. Even the shorts. That being said, I would watch only 1 - 3, because the third one is not just a perfect movie, but also a perfect ending of the whole story. Number four is technically awesome, but feels absolutely unnecessary.

The reason the movie focuses on the toys is because they just couldn't get human models to look good enough, that's why they severely limit the screentime of humans to only what is strictly necessary, with the toys it's easier to make them look good since the audience expects them to have wonky proportions and plastic-like textures. Now that they have the Toy Story 2 and 3 human models maybe they should go back and revise the ones in this movie, not just replace them but maybe just make the old ones look less creepy.
