To be clear on a rather important issue from the start: Elliot Page was still closeted as a transgender man during the first two seasons of this show, and thus his character Vanya is presented as a cisgender woman. After he came out, the show's crew put out a statement that he would continue to play the role, and there are no plans as yet to change the character, meaning that Vanya is still properly referred to as female even though we now know Elliot is male. They actually handled the whole thing incredibly well considering this is the first TV show that's ever had to deal with a major cast member coming out as trans partway through, even digitally altering the credits to not deadname him.

I was pleased to see they updated the credits. And really, what is there to change? There's nothing unprecedented about a man playing a female character, so no reason to treat it like a special situation. The best thing they could do is not comment on it at all.

Truth be told, this show took a few episodes to really find it's stride in season 1, but season 2 is great. Without spoiling anything... they managed to turn my least favorite character in S1 into my favorite character in S2. I hope you guys decide to continue with it.

Love the range of shows y’all are watching! For context, the creator of the comic (from which this show was adapted from) is Gerard Way. He is the lead singer of the band My Chemical Romance which is think is definitely reflected in this show’s sound design/choice of music. Super cool for his background in both visual art and music to come together as one. There’s even a song in there that he sang on, I think it’s a cover of an older song. I hope y’all enjoy how ever many episodes ya end up watching!

I think what makes this show kinda unique is because normally we get the 'regular person learns how to be a superhero' plot, but here, we see what happens when you raise kids around having a superhero persona and nothing else. Even if you don't continue with the rest of the series, I'm happy you at least watched the first two episodes!!! Great reaction as always!

Its my favorite show aaaaaaaaa I love how they deal with trauma in adults and all the shapes it take, from drug abuse to the need of approval from even the abuser. I live for the sound track and the characters!!!!

I read the comics when I was in school simply because I was a MCR fan who wanted to support G. Way’s art - I fell in love immediately with The Séance (Klaus) and The Kraken (Diego), the show is a bit different and not exactly in order but it is a great show. Season two was absolutely fantastic and can’t wait for season three next year! In a way it’s the opposite of other comic troupes and that makes it fun.

I don't see this show as a superhero series, it's more of a parody of the genre, with as many clichés as possible. (really) It's funny, and that Five's actor is pretty good as well. To this day, I can't get Paloma Faith's cover of "Never Tear Us Apart" out of my head.

umbrella academy gets better as you go along, the first few episodes are definitely just setting up everything else that has to happen so i'd *definitely* recommend watching the rest when you have time!

This show is such a ride and I mean that in the best way. I can see why it might take a few episodes to get into it though since they sort of push you into the deep end and say, "Hope you can swim!" Gerard Way, lead singer of my chemical romance wrote the comics this show is based on, and has a hand in the show itself as a producer. My Chemical Romance also recently got back together on Halloween of 2019, and played one show in December after being broken up since March of 2013. They had a tour planned but then covid happened.

Yay I’m so happy you’re watching this series. It’s one of my fave super hero shows. It can get a little slow and choppy in the first season, but the 2nd season is a HUGE improvement and so good. So I hope you get to watch it.
